It is not who you call upon that is important here. If you call upon in dua/supplication anyone or anything besides Allaah, then it is Shirk Al-Akbar (the greater Shirk), which expels a person from Islaam. Indeed the Mushriks of old would also call upon the righteous such as Prophets, Angels & Awliya. The grave-worshippers of today call upon Awliya, Ahul Bayt etc. So whats the difference? Its all Shirk as the action is the same.

These grave-worshippers, such as Sufis & Shias (not all Sufis & Shias by the way), say that we have not taken the Prophets, Awliya, Ahlul Bayt etc. as partners with Allaah, rather we have only taken them as intermediaries & intercessors who bring us closer to Allaah. However, this is the same Shirk of the Murshrikeen of old.

There is on harm in this and in fact is may benefit us because the Imaam of the mosque may be a better Muslim than me, so perhaps Allaah may answer him more than me.

But calling upon the DEAD or ABSENT is Shirk. Dua is for Allaah alone.
Quraan :: Surely, the religion (i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allâh only. And those who take Auliyâ' (protectors and helpers) besides Him (say): "We worship them only that they may bring us near to Allâh." Verily, Allâh will judge between them concerning that wherein they differ. Truly, Allâh guides not him who is a liar, and a disbeliever. (Az-Zumar 39:3)
Those (eg. Sufis and Shias) who call upon the Prophets and dead righteous Muslims, the Awliya, Ahlul Bayt etc. say that what they are doing is not Shirk. They say this is only intercession and as they are sinful, they need to call upon someone who is closer to Allaah (like Prophets, Awliya, Ahlul Bayt etc.) in order for themselves to get closer to Allaah. Indeed this is exactly the same argument of the Mushrikeen (polytheists/pagans) of old.
Those who engage in seeking intercession from the dead righteous Muslims are indeed committing Shirk Al-Akbar , which expels from the religion. But they call this action of theirs, Tawassul. This is incorrect as there are 3 legislated forms of Tawassul and they do not include calling upon in dua/supplication to those who have died from the wordly life and entered the Barzakh (the period between death and the Day of Judgement). Changing a name of an action does not change the reality of Shirk.
Quraan :: And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright. (Al-Baqarah 2:186)
Those who call upon the inhabitants (some of whom were righteous) of the graves, seek to get closer to Allaah by going through the righteous dead Muslims. But why dont they simply draw near to Allaah alone, instead of going through someone who cannot hear you, as they are dead from this wordly life! Has Allaah closed His doors? Does Allaah not know about His creation? Does He not hear everything? Indeed Allaah is close and responds!
There is hope if anyone turns away from Shirk and comes to Tawheed during his/her life and repents to Allaah, The One, The Most Merciful. However, if one dies upon Shirk, then it is too late for him/her, as the following Qur'aanic verse states:: Verily, Allâh forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allâh in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. (An-Nisa 4:48)
Stop the bickering people, unity doesn't mean you need to compromise your faith and ideology, it refers to political and social unity. Without it, Muslims are and will continue to suffer as a people as well as earn Allah's (swt) wrath,
On the fundamentals of belief, the Shia supplicate (dua) to other than Allaah by their sayings O Ali, O Hussain, O Zainab. The Shia request from the dead to fulfil their needs. All of this is Shirk, which expels a person from Islaam. We have been commanded to call upon/invoke/dua to Allaah alone.
You may start to accuse Your own People first. Many Sunnis supplicates the Holy Prophet (saw), many Sufi-Sunnis also supplicate to Imam Ali (as) and their Sufi Sheikhs.
Shias always try to call for unity, but from amongs the Ahl al Sunnah, there is always someone who try to spread hatred. Would our Prophet (saw) act like this?
The Shiite Imamers are different from the majority of Muslims in the fundamentals. Shiites will never be pleased with Sunnis unless Sunnis curse Abu Bakr, Umar & other companions. These Shia want Muslims to disown Imam Zaid, son of Ali Zain-ul Abideen, son of Al-Hussain, son of Ali ibn Abi Taalib. They also claim the Quraan has been tampered with.
One of the tenets of the Shia is Taqiyyah (deception). So much of the call for reconciliation and unity between Sunni and Shia is clouded by the Shias use of Taqiyyah (deception). They say to us (Sunnis) that which is not in their (Shias) hearts. How can we trust those who practice Taqiyyah? The answer is that we simply cannot.
The Shia have a different version of the Quraan including a verse called Surat-ul-Wilaayah, which they accuse Sunnis of deleting along with other Surahs! How can this be? In fact the Muslims have unanimously accepted Uthmaans (3rd Khalif) Quraanic text, which does not include these Shia Surahs. In fact Alee (4th Khalif) adhered to and applied the Uthmaani text during his Khalifate.
The Shia have elevated their Imams to the level of gods of ancient times as occurs in one of the main Shia books, Al Kaafi. Some exaggerations are: that Imaams know when they will die and die of their own choice! (p.258).That Imaams have knowledge of the past and future and nothing is concealed from them! (p.260). That all of the earth belongs to the Imaams! (p.407). This is all false and the Imaams themselves would declare themselves free of these attributes.
Sunni Islaam promotes Tawheed (monotheism) only, which is the calling upon Allaah (God) alone, without any partner at all. One significant belief that the Raafidah Shia (most Iranian, Lebanese and Gulf Shia) have is that they declare the Sahabah (Companions of The Prophet) to be disbelievers! They curse and insult the Sahabah. So they hate those whom Allaah and His Messenger love!
The main body of Shia in Iran, Lebanon and The Gulf are Raafidah Shia, also known as Twelvers (Ithna Ashareeyah). Many of them differ with pure (orthodox) Sunni Islam in that the Shia go to the graves of their imams and make dua (supplicate to them) or seek intercession through them (even though they are dead and in their graves!). These acts are classed as Shirk (polytheism) in Islaam and in fact take a person outside the fold of Islaam.

al-hadiths isnt words of normal ppl btw or about normal ppl, its about the sunnah of the prohpet(the way of the prophet. dont mean suni), u should try to read some hadiths to no wat its about, quran is wat we all follow 100%, but haddith is wat tells things like the coming of mahdi, the predictions of the prophet (of course from allah), smoking haram(la darar walla dirar) and other stuff which wasnt mentioned in the quran. now ofcourse it has to come from reliable sources.

It is not who you call upon that is important here. If you call upon in dua/supplication anyone or anything besides Allaah, then it is Shirk Al-Akbar (the greater Shirk), which expels a person from Islaam. Indeed the Mushriks of old would also call upon the righteous such as Prophets, Angels & Awliya. The grave-worshippers of today call upon Awliya, Ahul Bayt etc. So whats the difference? Its all Shirk as the action is the same.

If course we can ask those who are ALIVE and PRESENT to make dua for us and we can ask them to help us.
EG: One can ask the Imaam of the local mosque to pray for us.
EG: One can ask one's parents to pray for us.
There is on harm in this and in fact is may benefit us because the Imaam of the mosque may be a better Muslim than me, so perhaps Allaah may answer him more than me.

But calling upon the DEAD or ABSENT is Shirk. Dua is for Allaah alone.

Why were the Mushrikeen (polytheists/pagans) at the time of the Prophet deemed to be upon Shirk?
Because they called upon others besides Allaah in their DUAS / SUPPLICATIONS.
This is also what SOME Shias and Sufis do.
When the Shias make dua they invoke their Imaams eg. Ya Alee.
When the Sufis make dua they invoke their saints.
What is the difference in this action between the Mushriks of old, the Shia, the Sufis?
Shias, Sufis, Mushriks all make DUA to other than Allaah.

Those (eg. Sufis and Shias) who call upon the Prophets and dead righteous Muslims, the Awliya, Ahlul Bayt etc. say that what they are doing is not Shirk. They say this is only intercession and as they are sinful, they need to call upon someone who is closer to Allaah (like Prophets, Awliya, Ahlul Bayt etc.) in order for themselves to get closer to Allaah. Indeed this is exactly the same argument of the Mushrikeen (polytheists/pagans) of old.

Those who engage in seeking intercession from the dead righteous Muslims are indeed committing Shirk Al-Akbar , which expels from the religion. But they call this action of theirs, Tawassul. This is incorrect as there are 3 legislated forms of Tawassul and they do not include calling upon in dua/supplication to those who have died from the wordly life and entered the Barzakh (the period between death and the Day of Judgement). Changing a name of an action does not change the reality of Shirk.

But why dont they simply draw near to Allaah alone, instead of going through someone who cannot hear you, as they are dead from this wordly life! Has Allaah closed His doors? Does Allaah not know about His creation? Does He not hear everything? Indeed Allaah is close and responds!

There is hope if anyone turns away from Shirk and comes to Tawheed during his/her life and repents to Allaah, The One, The Most Merciful. However, if one dies upon Shirk, then it is too late for him/her, as the following Qur'aanic verse states:: Verily, Allâh forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allâh in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin. (An-Nisa 4:48)

On the fundamentals of belief, the Shia supplicate (dua) to other than Allaah by their sayings O Ali, O Hussain, O Zainab. The Shia request from the dead to fulfil their needs. All of this is Shirk, which expels a person from Islaam. We have been commanded to call upon/invoke/dua to Allaah alone.

One of the tenets of the Shia is Taqiyyah (deception). So much of the call for reconciliation and unity between Sunni and Shia is clouded by the Shias use of Taqiyyah (deception). In fact the Muslims have unanimously accepted Uthmaans (3rd Khalif) Quraanic text, which does not include these Shia Surahs. In fact Alee (4th Khalif) adhered to and applied the Uthmaani text during his Khalifate.

The Shia have elevated their Imams to the level of gods of ancient times as occurs in one of the main Shia books, Al Kaafi. Some exaggerations are: that Imaams know when they will die and die of their own choice! (p.258).That Imaams have knowledge of the past and future and nothing is concealed from them! (p.260). That all of the earth belongs to the Imaams! (p.407). This is all false and the Imaams themselves would declare themselves free of these attributes.

The main body of Shia in Iran, Lebanon and The Gulf are Raafidah Shia, also known as Twelvers (Ithna Ashareeyah). Many of them differ with pure (orthodox) Sunni Islam in that the Shia go to the graves of their imams and make dua (supplicate to them) or seek intercession through them (even though they are dead and in their graves!). These acts are classed as Shirk (polytheism) in Islaam and in fact take a person outside the fold of Islaam.

Oh brothers of Islam, imagine one thing, if the prophet muhammad was here right now, what do you think he will do, he wouldn't look at any of us either shia or sunni. Prophet Muhammad was never confused, and never have I read that in the Shia doctrine. Pray to a stone? Where in the world you get that from? I got to educate you, my brother. First of all, the 5 pillars of Islam, are intact by both sects of Islam: Sunni and Shia. So to say that they worship a stone or Hussain or whatever..I automatically know you are telling a lie..

You have obviously never met anyone from the Shia side. Most of the Shia scholars have said that Hitting yourself during ashura to bleed is Haram. Some people still do it, You can't base that on whether someone is a good or a bad muslim. Silly comment, I suggest you educate yourself before making comments like that.

al-hadiths isnt words of normal ppl btw or about normal ppl, its about the sunnah of the prohpet(the way of the prophet. dont mean suni), u should try to read some hadiths to no wat its about, quran is wat we all follow 100%, but haddith is wat tells things like the coming of mahdi, the predictions of the prophet (of course from allah), smoking haram(la darar walla dirar) and other stuff which wasnt mentioned in the quran. now ofcourse it has to come from reliable sources.
