Curse me and my stupid teenage mind buying a piece of crap metal guitar. I could of got so much more out of a decent jazz guitar, but spikes and horns and that pretentious punk saleswoman distracted me.
I noticed everyone is picking on the shredders, telling them to "slow down and feel what they're playing." Well, the shred is what sets jazz and hard rock apart. Let shredders be shredders, alot of the time they put alot of work into their technique, and those players do feel what they're playing. Need I remind all of you that this is a jazz video? There are greats like george benson that play crazy fast. Should we pick on them? No. Let jazz be jazz, let shred be shred. End of story.
@mikecazzx Other Jazz guitars are like this, straying away from the Gibson type which I find the most aesthetically pleasing. I prefer this than to the headstock that starts wide near the fret board and narrows at the end. If you are into the music rather than the looks it matters not what the guitar looks like, see ya point though!
Oh...so sweet......so tasty.....when I was younger.....before the hearts I fixed....5000 in all...just so fine this guy...:)....like djk..makes me smile...
@Dictum1 I agree that shedders need to slow down and feel what there playing, but what i really love it when you go from a slow tempo to a fast one and back down i think sounds really nice. Im not saying that your comment is bad it is a very good point but it dosent all just have to be all slow it can go up and down to make it more of a veriaty =)
@Dictum1 Completely false. Playing slow =\= more emotions. Playing fast =\= emotionless. Lane, Holdsworth, Marshall, Duane, Benson can all shred and strike an emotion (pun intended) chord. I've seen fast nonsense and slow dreck. Its all about the feeling put behind the writing not the speed its played at.
congratulations matt..you have officially joined the list of great guitar players that totally inspired me..thank you so much for yet another wonderful piece of musical mastery
i love the guitar, i personally prefer the fender jazzmaster to anything when playing jazz, but that's just me. i love the tone, simply perfect, made me feel like summer
@WitmerXL funny how after youve listened to metal for a certain period of time your views on music in general change, no? i was a metal head (still love it) for years, now im attending college to study performance in classical guitar. i love this stuff.
Did you study Wes Montgomery? You have a similar style, and coming from me, that is a HIGH compliment, because not many out there can even come close! You are sounding good.
This is exquisite, Matt. From the solo intro, to the unfolding of a musical story. Each time I listen, there are new characters and settings to discover. If any authors have writer's block, this might be their antidote! Inspiring.
this is just great. wasn't expecting to enjoy it so much. a lot of metheny influence for sure.

@mikecazzx Really? I kinda like it. Has a sorta unusual, artistic look to it but isn't too alien.

This is pretty basic jazz, I don't know why everyone raves about this guy, there are many jam guitarists better than this.

From one metal guitarist to all others... This is our roots, this is where shredding originated... And this is STILL the nicest version.
