Dear Believers, I've seen Carman in concert several times..he is incredible. Looking into the meaning of the song some have gone to deep. We are Champions and God is our guide. He will always be the Champion of our lives if you will let.
Actually, we are responsible to God for our thoughts. The bible is pretty clear on this.

This is an oldie, from the 80's. In the 70's and 80's Contemporary Christian Music wasn't big yet. Carmen has a ruff Italian NY style about him. His songs tell a story about God in a really different way.

To this day I love Carmen and I was just a young child when he did this. We are doing this for our human video in Mega Sports Camp. I love to teach the kids a great song from my childhood favorite Musician!
Carman was the first christian singer I ever listened to. His music was so entertaining, and so different from anything that the industry had ever seen before or since. My only thing is, can somebody tell me what he's doing these days. I ain't seen or heard much of him since he did his Heart of a Champion thing.

They showed us this once in church and back then, I was so worried I was even scared about this even! I've learned not to worry as much anymore though.And now I love this song! Ever notice how the 'old school CCM' in it's early days tended to have a more clear, direct message? As a son of people who were in the 70s, by all accounts, "Jesus Freaks", this is what I grew up on -- Keith Green, the old Hosanna and Maranatha! Praise series, Carman, and if we were feeling a little rowdy, some Petra.
This goes in the pantheon of timeless classics that had real conviction.
So we judge someone because of what we "heard" that can't be proven by anyone. No scandals, but someone heard someone say and so that's the truth. Yeesh!
I tell you all that the Bible plainly teaches us not to judge, so that we won't be judged. I don't know any of you, but i do know the Lord and i know the word of God. None of us are perfect, but the Bible says we are to "strive for perfection", in all that we do and say. Remember that the next time you want to question another persons salvation!!

Actually, we are responsible to God for our thoughts. The bible is pretty clear on this.
The thing that really peaks my curiosity is why "scruethedemiurge" would deign to offer his opinion to what is almost certainly a Christian audience. After all, if he is right, what will it matter in a billion years what anyone thinks? Morality stems from only one source, the bible. If the bible is wrong, there is no morality. This is an oldie, from the 80's. In the 70's and 80's Contemporary Christian Music wasn't big yet. Carmen has a ruff Italian NY style about him. His songs tell a story about God in a really different way.

Carman was the first christian singer I ever listened to. His music was so entertaining, and so different from anything that the industry had ever seen before or since. My only thing is, can somebody tell me what he's doing these days. I ain't seen or heard much of him since he did his Heart of a Champion thing.

We no longer need a god to explain why we're here; we've learned enough about ourselves and the universe that we're confident we'll find out the rest...or not, but either way we need not posit god as explanation. Nor do we accept the barbarous redeemer/messiah concept. We need no saviour. We are free. Not only is your Jesus not a champion, posterity will remember him as a villian who should never have been deified.

@scruethedemiurge You're twisting the meaning of what Jesus said and meant. We're NOT liable to God for our private thoughts. Jesus was encouraging us to keep our thoughts on good and true and just things, since where the mind goes, the body may well go in the future etc.

@scruethedemiurge I'm sorry that you miss the point, but if you were to look into and read the chapter as a whole that discusses it, you'll understand the point of the whole "thinking lustfully equals sin" concept. It goes to explain that we ourselves can't do anything to "earn" us a ticket to Heaven, like most people believe. Most people believe "If I'm a good person, I'll go to Heaven." Not so. Fact is, no matter what, we will always fall short of "earning" a right into Heaven...

He knows humans, his creation, and how they work better than we do ourselves. Its WRONG to lust after a woman not one's wife. He not only said that it was wrong to commit and act of adultery in a physical way but also mentally. The act is wrong because it violates God's law that he has set for mankind. Thus, merely thinking lustful thoughts offends God.

I can tell you this much, I am a Christian, but I get way to worried sometimes about the stuff that they teach you in church. They showed us this once in church and back then, I was so worried I was even scared about this even! I've learned not to worry as much anymore though.And now I love this song! Wow!! so many memories!!! we used to perform this drama in our church when I was 14, today I am 35 !!! I was Jesus for the drama and my nephew Moreno was Satan....we were in white clothes and satan(Moreno) and his crew were in black with makeup faces as demons/// so nice to preach and tell everyone that Jesus is the Champion!!

Oh wow, this is old school. It's fantastic and epic and all of the things I remember growing up.
Ever notice how the 'old school CCM' in it's early days tended to have a more clear, direct message? As a son of people who were in the 70s, by all accounts, "Jesus Freaks", this is what I grew up on -- Keith Green, the old Hosanna and Maranatha! Praise series, Carman, and if we were feeling a little rowdy, some Petra.
This goes in the pantheon of timeless classics that had real conviction.

None of us are perfect, but the Bible says we are to "strive for perfection", in all that we do and say. Remember that the next time you want to question another persons salvation!!

Good story in the song but as for the Christianity side of there sure is alot of "mythology" thrown into it. that and the time sequence LOL how was hitler, Napolian, there? they came well after the crucifixion. But it is christian entertainment it doesnt have to be accurate much like most of the churches today it is all entertainment, to make you feel good for a little bit.
