  • This is the 1st time i heard any Paki(solid) punjabi from east punjab, she speaks exactly like most punjabis in pakistan would. no sanskrit, marathi, or gujarati influences, just the pure form of punjabi. but the hindus in punjab thought they were invincible from the engulfing fires in t region many were rich n tht they could get away with it.

enna hindua or sicka uos dour sada jhoota pari vi ne si pineday , apany ap no baray badmash samjhday si enia di badmashiya asa lah shori 1947 vich.

  • this old lady talks just like grandmother. I wish to talk with her.

    Kashif from Pakistan

  • man she reminds me of my grandma ...........

  • I was very surprised to hear her punjabi and got confused whether she's muslim or hindu, coz she was talikng about pakpatan and lahore in lahori accent until i found out that she spent lots of time in lahore after the partition before she went other side of the border. most of punjbies i met from indian side have very different accent than lahories like me. There were so many who helped each other even in that nasty situation. she's is very grateful been survived & god bless her soul.

  • what is real story ,,mournful,,human tregedy,,it should be watched by whole socalled intellectual and study the history of drug religion which becomes tools of divide and rule, india is still become tolerant but pakistan is still walking on fanatic line, god bless them hatred is not solution, humanbeing race is to udnerstand how we need to llive in peace, one incident cannot be made political agenda like hitler did,,india is land of sufiana, not wahabiism,,better to udnerstand

  • Achay buray log her jaga hotay hain magar naki kabhi nahee khtam ho sakti, pir sahab kee neki ajj bhee zinda hay jis kee Hindu aurat gawahi day rahi hay.

  • Many years ago, I saw a documentary of survivors telling their tales of the partition (subtitles were in english). It was very similar to this clip. I can't seem to find the documentary anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • VERY old lady

  • NUKSAN DONO TARAF KA HUA, AB AIK DUSRE KE DIL BURAY NA HOON, YEHI DUA HAI, SAB MIL JUL KAR RAHO, IN MAUSI KI BATE SUNEEN TO ANSU AA GAYE, MERI APNI PHOOPHI KI BODY PE MAAR PEET KE GAUV THEY WO 1 YEAR PEHLE ALLAH KO PYARI HO GAEEN. BHAIO PYAR MUHABBAT SE PESH AO PAST BHOOLTA NAHIN MAGAR KISI KO JURM WAR TEHRANA KISI K BAS KI BAT NAHIN.

  • MY GRANDFATHER CAME FROM GURDASPUR AND HE HAD TOLD HORRIBLE ATROCITIES HINDUS AND SIKHS COMMITTED ON MUSLIMS OF WHAT IS NOW EAST PUNJAB. NOT HUNDREDS BUT THOUSANDS OF MUSLIM WOMEN WERE GANG RAPED BY HINDUS AND SIKHS. THOUSANDS DID SUICIDE JUST TO SAVE THEIR HONOUR. SIKHS AND HINDUS TOOK OUT PROCESSIONS OF NUDE MUSLIM WOMEN AND RAPED THEM OPENLY. SURELY HINDUS AND SIKHS WERE ALSO KILLED IN WEST PUNJAB BUT NOT ON SUCH LARGE SCALE AS MUSLIMS WERE KILLED IN EAST PUNJAB. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN

  • @paki936 oh come on, muslims slaughtered and raped hindus/sikhs in huge numbers. your prophet raped women - and his followers use him as a role model. muhammed raped umm kerfa's daughter right after umm was split into 2 and, beheaded; he raped Safiyah and Rayhanah after he ordered the genocide of their male kin and stole all their possessions. india has suffered 14 centurie of muslim jihad. muslims aren't innocent.

  • @shebakali6 Neither are Hindus, It takes two hands to clap, Similarly, Both Hindus and Muslims were equally responsible for what happened in 1947 during the Partition so please quit blaming the Violence on only one Group.

What happened is History, Let's create a Future with Love and Peace, Not more Hatred and Bloodshed.

  • @forgottenmemories63

Shut up. It was the Vile Camel Merchant Cult and British who were responsible for the partition of our country. Why did Jinnah felt the need to create a new country for muslims? That itself is a slap on our face.

  • punjabi they are they same sikhs or muslim, fucking jihna and nehru

  • Kaushalya Masi is the mother of All Punjabis.Let No Punjabi ever desecrate his holy mother....or is it that the politicians have not had enough of it in 1947.

  • This is the reason there will never be another partition in India. There was a lot of blood shed in 1947. Would you tolerate further blood shed for another partition....

  • i recount from one of my grandmothers stories hw my grandfather,a muslim nd his friend,a hindu, guarded my house whre my family nd d hindu family hd takn refuge frm d ongoing riots...she recals d screams of peopl she knew who wre getn beatn kild by d mobs..she cries whenevr she tels me stories frm that tragic era..

  • Looking at these videos brings tears to my eyes, did not matter whether it was a hindu or muslim running away out of fear,to an unknown future and destination......they all suffered and with them the coming generations of indians and pakistanis. No doubt we are still quarelling because we are still hurting.

  • I won't forgive those people who are responsible for Partition.

My grandparents have suffered a lot. My grandmother almost jumped into the river too. Fortunately she didn't. How can we forgive those???????????????///

  • My grand father who was not victim but involved always said with sorrow

    bhaut zulam hoea

  • Thanks again for sharing this video. I cried a lot listening to her story.

My mother came from Sialkot the same way. Thank God she made it.

We need to urge for a peaceful memorial for the victims on both sides. May be that will give us the strength to accept the tragedy and break the walls and build strong bridges. shame on British to have allowed this, if there is any God he must be embarrassed.

  • There are many such stories about Hindus & muslims helping & protecting each other during those brutal times. The only difference is that each of the many good person was able to help only few people, while each of the evil person was able to terrorize & brutalize a whole lot of people. hat is why the memories are so painful. & even today the same thing continues, & the evil ones are making it ever so difficult for the good to survive. This is the common thread between the people

  • Her Punjabi is very similar to that of my village. Does anyone know where she migrated from?

  • God Bless Massi ji x

i feel bad that she had to go through it all again just for us on Youtube. None of my grandparents ever talked about it.

  • " Peer dee the voti....meri pichaly janam dee maan see..." Truthful..........

  • so true adromasknilnil99 ....let almight allah, bhagwan heal the wounds of all the victims!!!

  • @anegi1 agreed..!!

  • I am muslim from a village in Pakistan called Bewal. Everytime I hear of the attrocities that we committed in that village in 1947 it makes my soul shiver. I am true believer in God. I know these things happen on both sidesof the border. However i know this all those animals who could attack the vulnerable people whether muslim, sikh or Hindu cannot be believers. The almighty will punish them I am sure. But we must make sure these things cannot ever be allowed to happen again in our lifetime.

  • @adromasknilnil99: You're right. No faith (Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism etc) teaches violence.

Like you said "...we must make sure these things cannot ever be allowed to happen again in our lifetime"..... Unfortunately the world we live in today is more violent than 60 years ago.

  • @sabashsabash We need to change this. The world seems to think of honesty and kindness as a weakness. Wherever there is a conflict we need to judge the situation ourselves and not rely on the biased media. All races and faiths need to get together and form goups that are willing to stand up in the name of justice and truth. Too often we take sides based on our faith and race. We should never let that cloud our judgements. Remember one day we will have to face our maker and he will question us

  • My family left Amritsar, India to Lahore, Pakistan. These stories are always touching to the heart.

  • Kaushalya Masi ji( may her soul rest in peace) is such a wonderful woman. Her narration is replete with examples of Hindu-Muslim unity, love, and kindness. As so many Pakistani and Indian friends have commented, her 'boli' cannot be distinguished from that of a Muslim or Sikh bibiji from the same area. This commonality of dialect points towards a commonality of culture, and this is what we should focus on...we are all so similar:).

  • This was just a beautiful and touching video. Thank you so much for posting this Kiran. Even though, my family, which hails from Amritsar actually, does not have such a tragic experience resulting from Partition (or may be we don't talk about it), I have always had the utmost respect and compassion for our elderly who were displaced during Partition. By our elderly I mean, Muslims, SIkhs and Hindus on both sides of the border.

  • this video really very emotional and hard

truth thanks for upload kiran......how can we say those people as human.....humanity is above than all religions....god bless all.

  • it was politics who is responsible

  • it brought tears to my eyes hearing this story. thank you for sharing it. it especially got me when she spoke of the kind people in pakpattan. my family (we are shia muslim) is from there and my father told me stories of how my grandfather used to scold muslims that tried to ransack the muslims. something about pakpattan love....perhaps baba farid's love permeates throughout the locals. god bless u.

  • I have heard similar stories from my grand mother (in the exact same accent).

Its unfortunate that the next generation does not appreciate how our grand parents had to rebuild their lives.

  • i wish partition wouldnt have happened. though all in my family survived while trekking from Rawalpindi to New Delhi....

I am also quite shocked as to why; muslim mobs were hell bent on raping and killing innocent folks

Thanks to kiran pandit for showing so much courage in uploading a difficult chapter and sharing her personal life.

One good take away...i love the accent..reminds me of my Darji and mataji (RIP)...SSA to all.

  • this nice lady was helped by muslims ... but you would'nt like to keep that in mind ... why would you ?!?!?... and i have trillions of incidents where muslims in india were raped burnt and cut during partition .... it were the hindus who were responsible for all this

  • 321roomi321 i know these stories yar but pls guys dont abuse here to eachother plssssssssssssss

  • yaar main kissay no gaal tay nahi kaadi .... main tay gal he kiti sii

  • ohh nahi veer gussa na kar yar ma v gal hi kiti ha,sorry je mind kitta ta

  • I don't want to incite ugly debate on this beautiful video, but I urge everyone to acknowledge that violence took place on all fronts, on behalf of all communities. It was destructive and inhumane, but we must refrain from placing blame. In all this mayhem, women and children were worse affected (not that men weren't affected), because of patriarchal norms that compel men to destroy the integrity of opposing communities by destroying the physical bodies of women.

  • She mentions that she was let go at Pak Pattan (home of Baba Farid) where she was met by the Peer and his wife. She has a very distinctive Punjabi accent too, I've heard Punjabi spoken like this many times.

  • Thanks to the uploader. An excellent video, very informative. More are required like this. In yrs to come there wont be many people of that era left. They seem to be much more tolerant and understanding of each other, more then us. There are many stories like this around. Sunil Dutt's ancestoral home was from my village in East Punjab. His family was also saved by a Baba jee who I met. If anyone wants to read the story then, u can find it on google.

  • For those who find her Punjabi difficult to comprehend I translate what Nirmal Sandhu has highlighted from what Kaushalyamasi says in the video:

"Pir 's ( Sufi Saint) wife looked after and took care of me very well ..she would have been my mother in her past birth"

Thanks Nirmal you have extracted the crux of this video.

  • @kiranpandit ...what was ur grand ma's region in pakistan?

  • @kiranpandit some of her words are typical of "rawalpindi" region?

  • believe me, i realized quite late that she is a hindu woman, she's just like muslim survivor living in pakistan similar story to tell. does'nt matter if she's Jannat Bibi or Laushalya masi,we really have a lot in common.

  • Please can you do the english sub-titles?

  • Thanks faakhir24,

This video clip I have uploaded mainly to highlight that we people of our sub-continent have so much in common and that we have lived together for centuries. Kaushaliya Masi survived the violent madness that prevailed on BOTH sides of the border hastily drawn-up in 1947 ONLY because of a Muslim Pir family's protection and support. You will note that despite all the hardship she faced for years after the partition she has great respect for all the good people there.

  • @kiranpandit: I have tons and tons of incidents of Muslims saving Hindus & vice-versa.A good person is a good person.Period.

Though all religions teach respect, value & humanity; somehow in the world of today - thanks to the vested interests (politicians) & HUGE influence of the biased / hate-filled media - we've started making opinions that religion teaches violence.

When will the common people understand that we have been (& still are) pawns in the "Divide & Rule" game of Global powers.

  • Its amazing , she speaks 101% exactely the same way like i speak and we all speak in Pakisani Punjab.

Per shuker a Allah da k man G bach gae, Hindo hoe ya Muslim ya Sikh Zulam tay bot hoya ona dina wich,

She servived but lot and lot of Muslims ladies got killed, raped and forced to change religion in Indian Punjab. My grandmother came from Gurdaspur but lost her youngest daughter on her way to Lahore. i assume there must be lot in Indian Punjab too to tell the same...

  • Jai ho mummyji. Insaniyat zindabad

  • Such scum wouldn't spare their own mothers, what do they know of humanitarianism? People like u don't even follow ur own religion so only have hatred in ur hearts - shame on u!

  • jatt 440. yes i watch this movie as well and i am also belong to a sikh family, thousand of muslim families dislocated from inia after brutal actions by hindus and sikhs of indian punjab, we are lived in pk with peace and harmony, not all the pakistanis are as u think about all. they love minorities than india. they not attacked the holy places as in india. ok bye

  • maybe u should read my post again. I didnt say what u think I said. I was actually responding to a previous post

  • Yaqeen Muhkem (staunch belief), amal peham (being practical) muhabbat fateh aalam (Love is the World's Conqueror).

  • this should have subtitles in english, but I can understand most of the things she is saying which is quite moving. I feel bad for her, RIP to the old girl and may this be a lesson to us all whose forefathers had to suffer at the hands of imperialists!

  • Yes CHOCHANG786,we all are one brotherhood; identical culturally (Indeed, that is why you find her Punjabi just like your own grandmas) and perhaps we have identical DNAs in our blood. You will notice that Kaushaliyamasi is not complaining much about her ordeal of 1947,but she is profusely thankful to some great people like the Pir and his wife there. She regrets having lost touch with them since migrating. Her life is a lesson for all of us:Such Holocaust should not recur in our Sub-continent.

  • This great lady,Kaushaliyamasi passed away last fortnight. Many friends & relatives are paying homage to her on this side of the Partition line & are visiting YOUTUBE to view this clip. They are all overwhelmed by many sincere comments and good wishes made here by our brothers on the other side of this man-made divide. On their behalf, I thank you all in Pakistan.

  • @kiranpandit May her soul rest in peace!

  • Amazing as "daddi ji " was speaking i couldnt tell if she was hindu sikh or muslim as a muslim myself and NANI JAAN from lahore she sounded just like my nani when she spoke punjabi ..... thast what u call honesty she said it how it was .... i have a lot of respect for her ... thanx for the video x we are all one brotherhood

Dasam Patshah jaddho araam naal soothay se, ik Pathan Musalmaan ne guru dey chati vitch chaku maree se.

    Islam Murdabad!

  • Hi Everybody,

Please listen to her carefully. She is extremely grateful to a devout Muslim lady & thinks she was God-sent to save her. This lady was a wife of a Pir, a sufi cleric, who surely would have known tenets of Islam & all other faiths better than the mobs on the streets of all the towns on both sides of the newly created border. We ALL;Hindus,Muslims & Sikhs had gone berserk at that time. This video reminds us that good people from all faiths unite to fight divisive& destructive forces.

  • This video gives all thinking people of India and Pakistan a few minutes of deep reflection. Hindus-muslims-sikhs have differences that will take years to resolve but they have no choice they will always live in the same geography. Best thing to think of respectable co-existance but before we do that we need to face and accept the 'Partition Genocides' as a collective sin. The Gods of all faiths must have shuddered at the atrocities rendered in the name of faith. Thank you for uploading this.

  • 60 years later and they still cry.

  • Hindus and Sikhs killed and raped thousands of muslims women and girls at the time of partition

  • Hindus and Sikhs did not do anything. People did the crimes you are accusing us for. I don't blame the Muslims for the actions of the Moguls against my people. So you should not do the same. I am both Pakistani Punjabi and Indian Punjabi, so I understand both sides to a certain extent. But I just wanted to say that religion does not kill, people and their stupidity kills. God Bless Brother

  • Let me tell u what Hindus and Sikhs did with our muslims sisters and mothers. We have heard stories from our elders who migrated from India to Pakistan. They tell us that how Sikhs and Hindus butchers raped and killed the women even they took out the unborn babies from pregnant women and u say that Hindus and Sikhs didn't do anything. What the ignorance is this?

  • What Ignorance is this?!?! Well then according to your logic, all Muslims were responsible for the death of my Aunt, my Great Grandfather, and my Great-Aunt alongside other hundreds of sikhs, and also the nightmares my Grandmother and my Grandfather used to have after the Partition. You are the one that is ignorant. My Grandparents did not blame one Muslim for what they experienced, ever!! They blamed the people who did that to them. PEOPLE, were the reason for the torment not religion.

  • xctly right man both muslims nd sikhs had gone berserk at the time of partition....there were many gud ppl on both side of the border..2 of ma grandma's sister were given shelter nd were taken proper care at some sikh guyz place, wen they were left behind

  • Thank you for sharing this friend, it really means alot to me. Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking.

  • nah no problem bro...my parents are from sialkot Pakistan..and my grandparents migrated from district Ambala ma pind was called BAILLY

  • Oh, one of my cousins is from Ambala. I don't really know where the viallge Bailly is because I have never travled Punjab that well. I was raised in the States. Lol...Where do you live now?

  • well i been movin all my life...now i m residin in serbia

  • Is it part of the job or what? Serbia, I always wanted to visit there. Lol..

  • nah no problem bro...my parents are from sialkot Pakistan...and my grandparents migrated from district Amballa nd my ancestral village is called Bailly

  • yaar i m virk but from sheikhupura where u from nice to cee u

  • Are you really? My Grandfather and Grandmother and their family migrated from Sheikhupura during the 1947 Partition. I am really glad to meet you. I wish to come there one day, God willing.

  • hammad78 these are lies you are saying everyone lived in peace until muslim extremists started romours to kick out the kaffirs.

  • Your ignorant piece of shit aren't their more muslism than sikhs? Or poor baby, what do you think that we were going to sit around and let us be killed.

Whats so interesting is that a small minority beat the shit of the larger majority.

Muslims are a bunch of jealousy people. Keep your fabrications to yourselves.

  • it is a heart-breaking story. I am really touched by what had happened to her and what she has suffered during the partition.

  • it is a heart-breaking story. I am really touched by what had happened to her and what he has suffered during the partition.
