man, I wish Bob Welch had put some of this performance into the songs on Heroes Are Hard To Find (which I consider the weakest of the pre Buckingham/Nicks albums)
Metalnation is a womanhater, and he gives a bad name to us guys who like hard rock. The blues is the root of all rock.To consider blues renditionists bad is to hate yourselfMetalnation. Its obvious you do. Maybe its time to turn country...oh wait,thats blues based too. Poor sad Metalnation.
Haaha fleetwood mac sucks, just had to listen to the original. Judas Priest does a way better version. Vocally the Judas version is far superior, but Rob Halford is better than 99.99% of all other vocalists out there, past and present. Its good though and I can't believe such an overrated band that sucks wrote a song this cool.
Yes the soul of this song was stripped and became just another notch in the set list to play, no real understanding of it just lyrics, bass, drums. With Peter it was his fight with sanity and the never ending sorrow he was feeling about himself his fortune and his fame.. in my opinion only him and him alone truely CAN play this song.. but non the less this isnt a horrible cover, sure beats the hell of that judas priest thing.
Peter is the man, but IMO Bob does a very cool version of this song here. Of all the post-Green FM versions of Peter's songs, this is the best I've heard.
then you guys should deaf-in-italy check out the live recording CD called bermuda triangle, Green Manalishi version there from Bob Welch is in my eyes a revelation and as such also a monument to Peter Green's spirit
Yah, I agree Welch does it justice. I cringe when anyone other than Greenie performs this song. Welch though, keeps it's original vibe and spirit intact. Now, Buckingham and Nicks performing this song a year later, that is an injustice to the song.
@zoso8t0 Hate to say it, but Peter Greene didn't play lead on the original. it was Jeremy Spencer. Have to say, this version is weak and nowhere near dark enough!
Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes the vocals are very PG style as welll.. love Welches solo

I never did know this existed, Then again I never looked for it but, It is amazing 4 original MAC musicians.
When Stevie and Lindsey came in it sure changed.

He does show a resemblance to Ned Flanders.

@abitfla he's about 12 years old i'd wager - he'll grow up eventually...

@abitfla The original Fleetwood Mac was heavily influenced by blues that is true but, Then again most of the great ones are.

You all sound ridiculous, calling a song a revelation, ahahaha gently remove your tampon and speak like a human.

@OrisLover This is the Heroes Are Hard To Find line-up, just after (the now late) Bob Weston was fired.

When Fleetwood Mac was inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame, Bob Welch wasn't included. WTF?

It's eerie 'cause he almost sounds like Halford...Good version

Not menacing. Not dark. No sense of foreboding in this version.

This was just before the end of a good Fleetwood Mac. Everything after was commercial pork.

Sorry this just sounds like a cabaret version of this great song. Where's the soul?
tonbridgeman 4 months ago
@tonbridgeman Well said - it's got none of the fire and drive of Peter's original.
It sounds like a working men's club band's version.
Ive heard better IN a working mens club.

@PappyHab
Actually, a five piece...Doug Graves shared keyboard duties with Christine McVie. You can see him to Welch's left on the stage.

Mac was so much better with Bob, Danny Kirwin and Peter Green. They also wrote and played Black Magic Woman.
