  • I agree one most be-careful. It's my understanding this has been going on for years and years before me. That the fisherman use to feed them. Now the tourist bring frozen squid and they suck it off the hand. At least the times I have been there, that's how they ate. Never heard of any injuries, just remember you are in there playground and you will be alright. That's for the video.

  • underwater butterflies

  • ive been to stingray city numerous times with my family, and all i have to say is definitely do this is you are going to the cayman islands! they are the friendliest creatures, but everyone thinks wrong of them because of the steve irwin thing. they even have one named frisbee who doesnt have a tail with its stingers!

  • Cryptozoology novel about two boys who find something strange on the beach one night see video book trailer

  • the barb of a stingray's tail is like a serrated knife and could easily impale a person.. a person who is stung is more likely to suffer from perforation of arteries or blood vessels. a little wake up call for you delusional people being overly fascinated by these sting rays. steve erwin (the crocodile hunter) got killed by a sting ray. if it can happen to him then it can happen to anybody

  • do they still have dea barbs?

  • This is up there on my dumb things people do list.

  • yea stingrays dont attack unless u realyyyyyyyyyy piss em off

  • bap bap!! this is where we live!! 345 all the way!!!!

  • stingrays are attention hogs! they are really sweet!! i have been at this place many times with stigrays i a very shalow touch tang and they flap themselfs geinst the side to get you to pat them!! its sooo adorable!!

  • i was there when i went on the carnival liberty cruise like 3 weeks ago

  • It was 4 years ago.

  • i LOVE stingrays, but everyone is scared of them now because of what happend with steve.

that was like 100 years ago, get over it people.

anyways, stingrays are very friendly, haha i cant wait to go !!!

  • da my isladn yow!

  • I live here and I only went her once and it is scary like hell

  • too freakin scary for me!

one stingray got agitated and whipped a boy

couldn't stand all the ladies screaming their lungs off!

ladies, if you're too chicken shit for this

get you ass back on the boat

    oy vey!

should've just gone to 7 mile beach and had a cerveza!

    had i known!

oh and you don't have to buy this stingray city excursion from the ship,

plenty of other private stingray city boats to take you to the same sandbar--cheaper!

  • It may seem scary, but the stingray are very nice and happy and trained.

  • huh?even though they tell u it won't sting u, they luk like they will, i live there and went to stingray city, fuckin scary, one almost sucked my ass off!

  • there not trained

  • I'm getting excited for my next cruise! It's my goal now to kiss one of these fellas too! ROFL!

  • i went there on a royal caribean cruise.

it was fun but sooo scary!

    i kissed one.

  • i went on that beach when i was on carnival cruise. it was fun i kissed 1 off them because my sister kept telling me 2 =p 2 talk you have to glide your feet on the ground so u don't step on one. one of the guy there working with the excursion crew licked one of the barbs, im not even lieing :)

  • I just went on this excursion. Nothing happened. Some of the rays DID have barbs and there is NO fence!! After watching some of the attacks I've seen on here I won't do it again!!! It was fun though.

  • you can swim near a stingray and you wont get stung unless you step on it

  • there arent any stingers, they catch them and then they make it go to sleep and cut off thier stingers....theres a fence underwater to prevent it from going into other areas...

  • dude they still have their barbs

  • Yeah there is no fenced off area, they can swim wherever they please and most of them still do have their barbs except the odd few.

  • thats what i want to know, do they have there stingers or not, if they dont is that aera fenced off to other outsider sting rays?

  • They have stingers. They started coming around to this sand bar when fishermen started cleaning fish in the area - then throw the scraps overboard.

They're pretty harmless. I think the stingers do have something in them that causes pain (other than the bony barbs). But everybody jumped in, had fun, and no one was hurt.

And the critters got fed. :-)

  • No fence. I have been there 3 times over the years, stingers intact. Never a problem. A small nurse shark showed up once and took the fish from a mans hand, he needed a couple of stitches. The shark wanted the food too. Harmless, and the guy has a great story!

  • do they have the poison in the tail?

  • WTB Are they retarted

  • These stingrays do have their barbs. I have been going their for more than 10 years with the guy at the beginning of the video that hands the stingray off to someone else. I just noticed him when I was looking for videos on the rays at Stingray City. Small World

  • omg my home :)

  • i think their barbs are cut off

  • I wish i could go but im just scared that theyll sting me xD

  • oh dont worry they're very gentle unless u really freak them out. i kno cuz i was here too :)
