  • So it's okay to have a leader of songs in church? Is it okay to amplify his voice i'm our parents debated about this too, if this same group was walking together outside would it be wrong, so why is it wrong in chapel? There are two perspectives now within the church of christ one agreeing with this method and another disagreeing can you judge their praise as acceptable their are probably more arguments and there strong? Me personally I'm neutral but I know about both I attend Southwestern C C

  • I really don't care about all this mumbo jumbo that the church of christ gets hung up over if we want unity will make it happen will figure it out and will all be one otherwise will be divided as we still are. I believe that most people within the church are ignorant they walk around with unpurified hearts, unwilling to come together and compromise, we are Unwilling to save our next generation, unable to help those who are in church to grow effiently, evangelism. What will you do for christ?

  • Hey, thats about where i sat during chapel when I went to ACU

  • :) I like that song

  • If anyone here goes or went to Abilien Christian Univeristy think about the original intent of the founders of this school. If they were to come back today and see what the school was like I could not imagine what they would do.

The school is not what it used to be and there is no point in going for any religious aspect. As you can see here any good that was done with a chapel service has been done away with and now I believe evolution is taught here now.

  • @paden981 . 1982 ACU grad and I'm very proud of what my college stands for. It sure is a lot different than 1906, I'll give you that, but there were people in 1906 opposed to women voting on religious grounds...to the Jews, you must become a Jew and the Gentiles a Gentile. A guy named Paul said that.

  • @martel732 If you are a conservative member of the church of Christ who stands for God's word you would not be pleased the college the university has turned into. Not talking about this video here and the chapel, if you look at simply there education and what it has turned to you would be very saddened. Truth is women leading worship is so easy to understand from God's word it takes a profesional to change someones mind around on the matter.

  • @paden981 Don't go 'round assuming paden. If you want your women in Burkhas, there is a religion for you

  • @paden981 I'm not a member of the church of Christ who does stand for God's word and a graduate of ACU. The teaching there is better than you will get a most other "Christian" colleges. I'm sorry if you think conservative church of Christ is the only way. Don't bother arguing that point with me, you'll just lose. I know your arguments, for I was one myself. My point is don't run down a good Christian university due to your own misunderstanding of a great many things.

  • @claytony91 I have a theory.....It seems like every church of christ distinctive has at its heart the idea of equal importance and fellowship. Not organized around commercial value, no celebrity leaders, no testimonials, no soloists, no theological creativity. The a capella singing is a direct and tactile experience of fellowship and mutual obligation. I remember singing and being able to identify recognize the individual voices, good and bad and felt comforted and protected.

  • Seems like adding a praise group and turning their mics up is kinda like firing the congregation IMHO. In this video it looks like the people up front are "it" and everyone else is just watching....?

  • @readanddance Amen to that! Check your New Testament, you will not find praise teams or hand-clapping.

  • haha this one will be funny.... I graduated from Harding University....... Our chapel services are better.I miss them now even though i always skipped them.

  • The cornerstone of Churches of Christ are its dedication to trying to keep all later practices or doctrines from creeping into the first-century Church's original worship plan, and so do not have instruments. Old Testament Judiasm had music that can be found in the scriptures, but Christ's established New Testament Church and it's followers were actually significant in history among other religions by NOT their NOT having instruments. The similar named , Church of Christ, LLC, is not the same.

  • Love this song so much!!! We sing it at church =)

  • Im going to acu! woot woot.

  • Comment removed

  • ssshhhh i live nearby LOL

  • i like this i used to work at ACU...

  • I am thinking about going to ACU....I am not originally from Church of Christ background (from Wesleyan) I have found a bunch of Church of Christ acapella singing....This may sound dumb but do all church of christ's sing with no instruments?

  • @patriotgrlluvUS The number that use instruments is small.

  • @patriotgrlluvUS Most churches of Christ are still singing acapella. There are some churches, however, who have recently started offering "contemporary" (instrumental) services in addition to their "traditional" services.

  • Sometimes I would ditch, but really, it was great to take a break from class to go to chapel.

    ACU, 1982

  • I agree, I miss singing with university students. But this brings back wonderful memories I have stored up for heaven.

  • I miss ACU. I miss Praise Days. Good memories. Just beautiful.

  • This video really makes me miss being a student at ACU. Beautiful :D

*Of course, we're not crazy about the clapping. 8 )

  • i agree.. way better in person.. and not rushed..

  • God is a very happy God because of ACU! Best, Tyler Lord Hamilton

  • We loved our visit to ACU - still praying on where to send our daughter. The choices are numerous....

  • it doesnt sound too good because all u can hear is the praise team.....gosh it sounds so much better when only one person leads the singing

  • I think the name is "Listen to our Hearts". I love ACU. I graduated in 1986 and my son will attend this fall. Goodluck in getting there :O)

  • Your son is here right now? I'm here as well. I started this fall as well. Cool. Actually I think my parents graduated in '86 as well.

  • Yeah, that's the song's name.

  • I graduated in midyear 1987. This looks better than when I was there at ACU.

  • @charmednblum my sis graduated last winter
