  • @rondinig It couldn't happen in 1944

  • How how how did they made this!!!!

  • LOL samba

The top two countries: USA & Brazil

  • I wanna go to the 50's and see how Rio was, in my dreams of course!

Great age, don't you think? For both, Brazil and US!

Greetings from Brazil to all US . Long live our friendship!

  • @DeMouraBR friendship is magic

  • Cachaça!

  • I really do not speak English, but if you look at other places will see Mg, Sp and other cidades.Rio is just a passage.

  • Amazing!!!! God Bless Brazil, God Bless America.

  • aw I remember watching this cartoon when I was little.

its fun to see again (:

  • @gustavo97578

    Como você está?

  • @gustavo97578

    Oh! Ola, como stas?

  • @gustavo97578

    Uh, Hi? Hola?

  • @TheOtose portuguese and spanish have many common words... really much of them. But actually some similar words have completely different things, althought spanish and portugese are something like brother-languages.

Sorry for my flaws at english, i'm Brazilian :)

  • OMG Jose Carioca is my fav character of all time. GOD LOVE HIM FELLOW FRIENDS LOVE HIM "HE'S SOOOOOOO CUTE".

  • I love Jose he such a great character, I love him the best in the Movie The 3 Caballeros with Donald and Panchito. I want to try and talk with a Brazilian person, and see how much words Portuguese and Spanish have in common. From this video alone I catch a few words and understand them, others I can only assume what they mean.

  • good times the brazils golden age where you could find just great people now in rio you find just assasins and drugers

  • Most epic movie of all Disney

  • funny nice very good que gracinha adorei

  • lool, I never though that EVEN in the american version Jose is in portuguese, geeez, I bet no one understood that when they launched the episode in the same way I couldnt understand donald when I was a child (yes, i'm brazilian x3)

  • i'm brazilian, and i've never felt such joy in disney's consideration with brasil, expecially turning one of our best songs in thi MASTERPIECE

  • @MrKlausbaudelaire

I know, right? This is my #1 favorite Disney movie because of the art,the characters, the history behind the countries,& epic information about the countries of Brasil & Mexico.

  • I used to watch this growing up....Good times! Thank you for posting

  • of all the disney characters my favorite is the aracuan

and all time favorite is jose

  • In some aspects, portuguese is close to the english language, but in others, is different.. Exemple: ''Beaultiful girl'' means ''Garota bonita", but the noun comes first than the adjective.. Literaly, in english it would be ''Girl beaultiful'', and it doesn't make sense..

Another example: ''Giant terrifying worm from Alaska'' means ''Minhoca gigante aterrorizante do Alaska''. If it would be writen like english, it would be weired: ''Gigante aterrorizante minhoca do Alaska"

  • I have seen all 50 animated Disney films & this one (Saludos Amigos) is one of the funniest films Disney done, only rivaled by Robin Hood and Lilo & Stitch.

  • Old Disney Movies are genious !

  • What's the song at the end called? ;D

  • @thesingerperson AQUARELA DO BRASIL - JOÃO GILBERTO

  • @Tindecs thankyouuu ;D

  • @Tindecs By Ari Barroso

  • @Tindecs Aquarela do Brasil de João Gilberto?? É do Ary Barroso!

  • I understand every single word...

  • PS: I'ts sounds so funny when Donald tries to read José Carioca's card.

    ^_^

  • I love José Carioca (Zé carioca as he's called in Brazil) and I think he should become the Olympics games' mascot.

but ever since I saw this video, many years, I've been wondering why he doesn't have Rio's accent. O_o

  • that was great!

  • eu amo meu brasil

  • Brasil.. meu Brasil brasileiro... yeahh... that is it... Brazil rocks :)

  • It´s cool! Very good! Tks! LOL - Muito legal. Muito bom! Obr!

  • how the song from 4:50 is called?

  • @iXeuttube Tico Tico.

  • @iXeuttube

The name is ´´ TICO-TICO NO FUBÁ ``

  • He said SODA POP! It's an american way to say "refrigerante". It's a very refreshing drink! Hehehehe

  • Comment removed

  • What did Donald say before drink cachaça?..i didn t understand which kind of drink he said...

  • José must have been so happy when Rio got the Olympics

  • It´s lovely! É lindo ! Muito obrigada por partilhar. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • God bless Brazil!

We fought fascism together back in WWII. Not surprisingly, this pro-Brazil cartoon was first made back in 1944 when Brazilians and Americans were together fighting fascism in Italy. That's when Brazil could have easily sat the war out leasing air bases, collecting the checks, and letting the US and British do the dirty work of patroling the central Atlantic.

On a lighter note, thanks for the post, it's a darling. As a Brazilian and as an American, I love it. Cheers!

  • Wonderful!!

  • Very nice!

  • The hug, the welcome, the beauty, the love and ALL the rhythms... That has never changed. Btw the cachaca is still lethal, but oh so awesome

  • People, Let's remember that this was made in either 1942 or 44. There was no thought of globalization or accurate portrail of a country or ethinicity by anyone. Americans, Europeans, Nazis or anyone were worried or concerned about it. Of course Brazil wasn't a jungle with flaming Flamingoes (which can be found in parts of South America), but if you didin't know any better what you you assume?

I love Brasil and the welcoming spirit of the nation and the poeple and I think this capture both.

  • Genius...

  • U are all welcome to Rio de Janeiro!! WORLD CUP and OLYMPIC GAMES here!!

  • "Brasil, meu Brasil brasileiro" guys im from Brazil and we dont live in a jungle!! We just have beaches and a bit more trees!! We have everything that u have!!! C'mon im in my itouch right now!

    WORLD CUP 2014!!

  • this video show us as if we were all living in a jungle...its sooo not like that.

  • @julio210389

well you know rio de janeiro is soooooo far away from the jungle....I think that NY is the most horrible jungle that you can be thrown in...Sarah from Morocco

  • I wish I could splash the brush onto a piece of paper and make a waterfall like that instead of an ugly paint blotch ... or that if I painted bananas they'd all turn into toucans =D

  • HUEHUEHUEHUEHUE

  • And by the way, this is the most beautiful tribute that i have seen about Brazil.

    I love this.

  • Ah.. soda pop!

    no.. PINGAS!

  • @tourdubeux DONALD DUCK PINGAS!!! 2:33

  • I would love to travel to brazil and get a hot brazilian girl, lol!! Greetings from California.

  • lol i understood every word jose said =D

  • @NewSuperLuigiBrosWii Yeah, his portuguese is really clear and nice to hear ^^

  • Omg i love this scene! Samba rhythms are.. irresistable ;) and the painting in the beginning is gorgeous, i was totally blown away!

  • I like how they deliberately made Jose sleeker and 'handsome' in the movie.

Not that he isn't cute here.

  • I just love it when Ze gives Donald a huge hug!! So very much part of Brazilian hospitality, then and now.

  • @ShadyFelineUSA It's true. We have a lot of people from every part of the world here and, at first glance, the Oriental people become a little afraid of us. They greet each other from afar and we always give hugs and throw kisses.

    eehehhehe

  • Love the song used in this. Is there by any chance that this song has a name so I can go find an mp3 or download off itunes?

  • @Sonicthehuman0 You must search for "Chorinho", "Tico-Tico no Fubá" by Zequinha de Abreu and "Aquarela do Brasil" by Ary Barroso. You can find "Aquarela do Brasil" as "Brazil" by Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby or Ray Conniff.

  • @CanoPinto Thanks you very much! god this song influenced me to draw a pic of Jose now XD I listened to it the whole time. sorry for the late reply I never chack my youtube that often.

  • I just adore both Donald Duck and Jose Carioca!

  • What exactly IS that stuff that Jose and Donald drink?

  • @Yermog hahahahahahaha is cachaça!

    beijos aqui de Copacabana!

  • @gcblog11 lol But what IS it? It looks like they drank hot sauce or something!

  • @Yermog Cachaça

  • @Yermog CACHAÇA/PINGA/CANA/Water that birds don't drink ehehehe/AGUARDENTE/Firewater

From 29 to 60 percent of alcohol my friend, it's make from sugar cane. I like it with lemon drops =)

  • @Dalboni 60 percent... 60 percent?!?! Holy mother of cheese... I think I'm gonna book a flight to Brazil now just to have some. Plus, Brazil is beautiful.

60 percent alcohol with lemon drops sounds like it would really burn though...

  • Donald you are an artist! :P

    2:36

  • Make me sad, yaknows? I wish someday USA remember this times..

(yah im brazillian, sorry for the bad english, im learning it =x )

  • José Carioca: Un Pato Donald, Un Pato Donald!!!!! cuakcuakakakakaka

    hahahahahaha excelente

muy buen video gracias por subirlo

    Saludos de Chile

  • They should change the name of the Walt Disney Company to "The Former Walt Disney Company", because what they produce now (trash/ Hannah Montana) has nothing to do with this great art of his excellency, Walt Disney. This makes me want to visit Braaasssssiiiill!! "Pra mim!"

  • we all know Jose is the spanish name of Joe, but I wanted to know what Carioca meant. so I looked it up, it turns out it means anyone who is from Rio De Janeros. So that means his name means "Joe from Rio"

  • Hi Friend ! I am a Brazilian of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The term "carioca" refers to those born in Rio de Janeiro, which is the state capital of Rio de Janeiro (the same name). But who is born in another city in the state of Rio de Janeiro (Niterói, Buzios, Cabo Frio, Angra dos Reis, for example) is called "Fluminense". There is a football team here with the name of Fluminense football club. Regards !

  • wow, you're from Brazil? I've always wanted to go there and see the rainforest. From the pictures I've seen, it looks very beautiful there.

  • Yes, Rio de Janeiro! Here is one of the largest urban rainforest in the world "Tijuca Forest," with a great biodiversity. The city is very beautiful, unfortunate that the violence and political corruption do not let more beautiful! From where you are?

  • I'm from the Chicago area. about an hour away. unfortunately we do not have beaches and rainforests.

  • Interesting, I am also Brazilian and didn't know about that.

  • É isso aí !!! Brasil i l il il !!! Abraços !

  • @animallover2047 Carioca refers to those born in the CITY of Rio de Janeiro. It's in fact, a Tupi-Guarani (Brazilian Indian) word wich means "House of the white people", Cari=White (here refers the white people) + Oca=House.

  • I always find it so funny when Jose says a long Portuguese sentence and then sums it all up it a simple english sentence.

  • @animallover2047 Actually he is mentioning several neighborhoods in Rio.

  • José sounds (and looks) so incredibly cool when he's telling Donald how to pronounce those cool Portuguese words. This makes me want to start learning Portuguese so bad. Maybe after that I'll rewatch The Three Caballeros and get some inspiration to study Spanish. Thank you Disney, you inspire me to get educated.

  • Walt Disney was the best ambassador that the US ever had. I AM trying to learn português. This song 'Watercolor of Brasil' from 1939 went nowhere there until Disney created this 1942 cartoon.

'Brazil" is now a worldwide 'standard' which created the image of a beautiful, exotic and carefree Brasil.

Pleased to see you appreciate the high quality and imagination of Disney!!!!

  • @evanymous thats is a beautifull language to learn.... Portuguese

  • @evanymous Me and my step son was watching this yesterday and we were like WE HAVE TO TAKE SOME PORTUGUESE CLASSES haha ... but something about how the Brazilian speak it is different from the people in Portugal, just sounds so Nice

  • @Jvive3o5 The brasilians have a diferent acent from the original portuguese language, maybe because of the tropics loool. I am portuguese, and I think its cooler the portuguese of Brasil, they speak like they dance Samba ;)

  • @Jvive3o5 Our accent here in Brazil is very different from the portuguese people. They speak a lot more pompous and in a lot more formalist way. We have a more fluid way of speaking and our accent and our slangs changes a lot from a state than another but no one of them sound so rolled tongue like the portuguese people.

A portuguese friend of mine says that we are born from the mixture and they were born form the selfishness and because of this we are so poor and happy and their rich and sad =)

  • @Jvive3o5 I don't know if i it's true in fact, i never travelled to Portugal, but i love the way of our people and i guess my friend thinks the same way. He moved here in 2005 and never left ehhehe

  • ahhhhh....there's nothing like the classic disney shows and movies that we, our parents, and grandparents grew up with while kids today are growing up with all that Hannah Montana and Wizards of waverly place crap.

  • @animallover2047 You are SO RIGHT! Comics used to be beautiful!

  • PUTZ!

O GOVERNO ESTADUAL É VOLTADO SÓ PRA VCs CARIOCAS(SOU DO INTERIOR DO ESTADO)! SE VOLTASSE O ESTADO DA GUANABARA OS BANDIDOS IRIAM DEIXAR DE SER BANDIDOS, NINGUEM IRIA TRAFICAR, OS HOSPITAIS ATENDERIAM TODOS, E TERIA UM LUGAR NO LEBLON PRA TOSOS NÉ?

    FALA SÉRIO!

  • Rio 2016!

  • Brasil 2014!!

  • @marcelokpz É isso aí! Rio 2016.

  • I love Jose's accent when he speaks portugese :) So cute!

  • LOL i can't understand anything Donald Duck says. ROFL

  • Me explica o que é ridiculo?

    Não entendi?

Vai estudar história e depois venha me criticar.

A cena é ótima. Fosse hoje seria proibida.

  • Beautiful!

  • Nice!!!!

  • jose soooo freakin cute:D

  • now i know where tery giliam's "brasil" theme come from

  • I just thought of something; what does Joe Carioca say when the film is revoiced for portugese?

  • Actually, I'm fairly certain the film is the exact same in both languages. The language barrier joke works both ways like that.

  • He says:

    "Gentleman, here is my card."

    "Do you have one?"

"Thank you very much. The Donald Duck?? hahaha. Oh come on, give me a hug! Like those ones - a 'rib breaker', a good carioca hug, a good friendly hug... Welcome, my dear. The Donald Duck, look that. Let's go out. You're gonna meet Rio. We're going to every places... We are going to Tijuca, Copacabana, Urca, Salgueiro, Laranjeiras (...) Leme, Leblon, Gávea, Pão de Açúcar... and Corcovado!"

  • ahhahahhaahahahah

  • 3:50 He was mimicking Donald's fighting pose.

  • Joe can't decide if he wants his shirt buttoned up or not.

  • Perfect!! Simply perfeito! :)

  • Jose is sooooo cute and charming.

  • Brazil is the best beautiful contry in the world!

  • Life is a painting...Brasil, Brasil, Brasil, what a beautiful country to be in love...I love you Brasil.

  • I love how Jose dances! He was always one of my favorites! Hahaha! He's all smooth and Donald is always clusmy.

  • É a esperteza americana e a malandragem brasileira andando juntas

  • 3:46-3:51 This is how i react when i see Donald as well. (X

  • does anyone know where i can find this song?

i've always loved it; very nostalgic. ^^

  • That song's called "Aquarela do Brasil", composed by Ary Barroso in 1939. You can probably find it right here on youtube or on any P2P searching tool such as ARES or EMULE.

  • You can search for "Aquarela do Brasil" (Watercolor of Brasil) of Ary Barroso, a very tradicional song here, written in 1939. You can find in youtube lots of artists interpreting that.

    Saudações brazucas!
