I used to make them all the time last summer whenever I needed a bag. I'd go get a 25 cent scarf from Value Village and tie it up. I made a really cool one that had boats on it.

This technique is not new at all! I saw Japanese do it. Go to TokyoStyleTV here on Youtube. These people do beautiful purses! Creative style but not unique to this contestant, its a fashion statement in another country.

This is great. I say, give her the benefit of the doubt. Just because you may have seen this elsewhere, doesn't mean that she didn't come up with the idea herself. Her sewing machine may be broken, or really old and she may just want a new one to sew with! Trust people.
