    A good story

  • Excellent video - improves on re - listening

  • Customers don't know what they don't know, the successful businesses are the ones that achieve this and wow their customers.

  • haha that's interesting. I haven't thought about it that way.

  • Love the tip from Simon Woodroffe

  • I wish I could get what I wanted from businesses all the time!

  • Give the customer what they need? I think we are becoming a world where differentiating between a want and a need is more difficult. People want more than they need I think!

  • The stricture "Dont run out of cash" is one fundamental that ought to be in any small number of business commandments that might be written in stone ! Krikusr

  • It is getting harder and harder to exceed customers expectations.....

  • You don't give the people what they want, you give them what they need? No?

  • yeah, loved that guy who said "don't run out of cash" cos he really meant it!

  • yup agree, SW for a small start up is the best simple advice...cashflow or die.

  • Great advice from SW as usual

  • You need the whole lot and then some -dimsum

  • Give your customers but don't run out of cash

  • A bit of hard-nosed practical advice!

  • don't run out of cash...mmmmm

  • Yep - some great nuggets in there!

  • True, find out what works for you, but that may not remain that way forever. Adapting later and constantly changing is just as important.

  • Hands on approach, nosyness and balls seems to be the differential.

  • good points!

  • Woodroffes the true yoda of the sushi world

  • Did you say Sushi? lol

  • yoda wouldn't start a sushi business. He has crap taste in food - eats bugs and stuff. Just look at how short he became through poor diet.

  • And you've tried bugs have you? Fried scorpion is actually quite nice. Buttery almost.

Unless it's over done, then it tastes like burnt hair.

  • Lots of great tips and ideas.

  • Customers are number one.

  • Great stuff. Nothing new, but some of these rules of thumb are easily forgotten!

  • I think great people is the key factor. There is no point having amazing people up the top. You also have to have them in the smaller jobs, especially in front of house. Remember that it usually isn't the big guys who are first to meet the important clients or customers. Often it is the receptionist, assistant, whatever. These people can run or ruin your business.

  • All great advice. Sahar sums it up when she said 'its hard work and persistence'.

  • I agree, everything in life can be achieved through hard work!

  • I agree...I have seen some people cruise through life though without too much effort. That annoys me a lot.

  • Agreed!

  • It's no wonder these people have done very well in business.

  • You sure need great ppl but not just for businesses though, I reckon in general you NEED great ppl to make things work!

  • All these tips are so true!
