Jaco - Changed the bass world forever. Marcus - All round virtuoso and influential on millions of thumpers. Flea - probably the most influential in "popular" music. Stanley Clarke - say no more. Larry Graham - inventer or slap and master of groove. What do they all (and many more) have in common??? They're all revolutionary and none of them made the list. Vics only in there coz the vid would be trashed if he wasnt. Next time write "revolutionary bassists in my favourite styles of music"
all the Metallica's fan going wild because they can't see Cliff... bullshitting the guy who made this, not knowing that Cliff was in the first one... fools
The correct name for this list is more like "revolutionary BANDS"
The bassists are good but when you have a list this big it's more the bands than anything. I'm trying to find a way to explain what I mean but.... hmmmph lol
Why is it every "greatest bass video" I see on you tube leaves out guys like Geddy Lee and Chris Squire. I'll let you in on a little secret. If it wasn't for dudes like that you can kiss every influential bass player from the mid seventies on up good bye!
My top 10 bassists of all time= 1.John Entwistle 2.Cliff Burton 3.Stuart hamm 4.Victor Wooten 5.Nathan East 6.Flea 7.John Myung 8.Steve Harris 9.Stanly Clark 10.Any Hot Girl Bassist.!
how about jack bruce and jack cassidy and also you're missing like a punk bass player there a lot of good punk bass lines or alternative and some really technical death bass players
@zemacabro the bass in sweet child o' mine is the simplest and most boring bassline i've ever heard i learned how to play it the first day i had my bass guitar and i felt like burning it cuz it is that lame
roger water revolutionary bassist. i dont think so...most of pink floyd basslines were made by david gilmour. roger waters had the conceptual view of the band. wooten is so overrated... entwistle is the god of bass and wooten also ! :P
i disagree with a lot of these choices. most of these are just rock bassists and just have preetty generic riffs. esp in the song choices. Wheres bootsy collins? wheres flea? this just looks like a list of bands you like with songs you enjoy. there are maybe 2 or 3 bassists that actually deserve to be on here. like victor wooten. now hes revolutionary
i just mean there just like 3 note verses and just straight strumming, theres nothing really to them. which is sort of my pooint if these were revolutionary bassists he might have better song choices to illustrate tthat
NICE VIDEO! There are a few of these guys that aren't that revolutionary, lol. Let's not say the names, to save us from an argument, haha. ....But I will say that JOHN MYUNG AND VICTOR WOOTEN ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woot
As ive said in past comments, this video is named "Revolutionary Bassists II" for a reason. The other video, "Revolutionary Bassists I", was removed a few months ago, and Cliff was the first one featured.
I did have another "revolutionary bassists" video, which included many of the names you guys want to see. Unfortunately it was taken down about 2 weeks ago. I understand this list pretty much sucks without the other one, but I cant really do anything about it.
you do have an amazing selection, it seems like alot of people who post negative comments apparently didn't watch all the way through because they complain about people who supposedly aren't on the list but really are. but i do think you should extend it and add geddy lee, les claypool, jaco, and flea.
ahahahahaha!!! there are the better riffs of guitar of paul gilbert! racer x and mr big. you should call this video Revolutionary Guitarist: Paul Gilbert!!! :D
I wasn't necessarily saying that you should have listed Charles Benevent or Jimmy Haslip. I was just saying that they are revolutionary (in my opinion) and have influenced me.
Charles Benevent and Jimmy Haslip are extremely underrated! They are among my favorites along with many many others! Awesome choice for Victor Wooten piece! Are you familiar with Victor's work with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones?
