  • 6:53 best bass guitar desing ever

  • so I guess paul mccartney wasn't revolutionary??

  • Hugh Hopper was pioneering the Bass before most of these were born

  • vic vic vic vic vic vic is the best!

  • @wallacels1 I agree, no bassist will ever compare with Victor Wooten.

  • Jaco - Changed the bass world forever. Marcus - All round virtuoso and influential on millions of thumpers. Flea - probably the most influential in "popular" music. Stanley Clarke - say no more. Larry Graham - inventer or slap and master of groove. What do they all (and many more) have in common??? They're all revolutionary and none of them made the list. Vics only in there coz the vid would be trashed if he wasnt. Next time write "revolutionary bassists in my favourite styles of music"

  • Where are Marcus millier, Stu Hamm, STALNLEY CLARKE !! ?

  • Isn't Anthrax bassist called Dan Lilker????

  • revolution of technique bass slap and tapping wooten and music too .

  • all the Metallica's fan going wild because they can't see Cliff... bullshitting the guy who made this, not knowing that Cliff was in the first one... fools

  • dude i really respect your list not very often I agree with this type of lists but I think this one is very respectful

  • how do you put in some hardcore faggott like Paolo Gregoletto and leave out cliff burton? guy was a legend.. still is, but atta boy for puttin in rex

  • The correct name for this list is more like "revolutionary BANDS"

The bassists are good but when you have a list this big it's more the bands than anything. I'm trying to find a way to explain what I mean but.... hmmmph lol

  • The only problem with this video is when Victor Wooten comes up I forget about all the others I just saw. Awe inspiring.

  • Good Video but wasn't it Mike Star of bass or the song Would?

  • yoo

  • where the hell is portrait of tracy by jaco? that piece and pretty much everything else he did paved the way for all of these guys

  • Why is it every "greatest bass video" I see on you tube leaves out guys like Geddy Lee and Chris Squire. I'll let you in on a little secret. If it wasn't for dudes like that you can kiss every influential bass player from the mid seventies on up good bye!

  • were the fuck is matt freeman

  • only 3 good bassists in there dude

  • Marcus Miller???

  • Where the hell is Alex Webster?

  • PAOLO GREGOLETTO!

  • My top 10 bassists of all time= 1.John Entwistle 2.Cliff Burton 3.Stuart hamm 4.Victor Wooten 5.Nathan East 6.Flea 7.John Myung 8.Steve Harris 9.Stanly Clark 10.Any Hot Girl Bassist.!
  • hell yeah dave ellefson!!!

  • th revolucionary bassist are jaco pastorius,victor wooten,claypool ,

  • geddy lee

  • how about jack bruce and jack cassidy and also you're missing like a punk bass player there a lot of good punk bass lines or alternative and some really technical death bass players

  • I think in the God... i mean Steve Harris section would fit better any part of Rime Of The Ancient Mariner

  • Yay! There's an audiotrack!

  • Joh Myung, maybe you could've chosen a better song...like metropolis part 1 where he has a bass solo?

  • @RandomoVideos You mean the bass solo where he plays a bass solo?

  • @facePuncher5

I heard that he plays a bass solo there :P

  • Sean Malone!

  • Billy Sheehan the best of this video!!

  • Victor Wooten the best!!!!!

  • Where's Claypool ? One of the most revolutionary bassists !

  • duff mckaggan the beass evast of course , the bass from sweetchild o mine is the best b

  • @zemacabro the bass in sweet child o' mine is the simplest and most boring bassline i've ever heard i learned how to play it the first day i had my bass guitar and i felt like burning it cuz it is that lame

  • @Leotheleprachaun

Basslines don't need to be complicated for them to be good...

  • john myung THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mike Inez plays No More Tears...

  • My greatest heroes on the bass are: Mark King, Jeff Berlin, Stanley Clarke, Tetsuo Sakurai, NHOP, and lots of others,...

  • for me the best of that whole list are Victor Wooten and John Myung ..without none doubts!!!

in that list they exist bassists that don't play half that.. Victor Wooten, John Myung, Vail Johnson, Mark King, Richard Bona and Louis Johnson play.

  • Make #19 #1 and you might be ok

  • Flea?

  • @DRerAGO

    sucks why?

  • dude mike starr came up with the bass line from would? not mike inez.

  • fark this is old school ! wheres primus's Les ?

  • I thought Robert Trujillo played on No More Tears :O

  • i thought it was mike inez

  • @TFIFH But he didnt write it

  • Geddy Lee - Rush?

Why all the rock bassists too? Jaco Pastorius etc or was that in the first vid?

  • roger water revolutionary bassist. i dont think so...most of pink floyd basslines were made by david gilmour. roger waters had the conceptual view of the band. wooten is so overrated... entwistle is the god of bass and wooten also ! :P

  • John Entwistle was voted, BASSIST OF THE MILLENIUM, now that's revolutionary.

  • If we are talking technical then Joh Entwistle is shit.

  • i disagree with a lot of these choices. most of these are just rock bassists and just have preetty generic riffs. esp in the song choices. Wheres bootsy collins? wheres flea? this just looks like a list of bands you like with songs you enjoy. there are maybe 2 or 3 bassists that actually deserve to be on here. like victor wooten. now hes revolutionary

  • it's some nice songs though.... and by the way, what is a generic riff??

  • i just mean there just like 3 note verses and just straight strumming, theres nothing really to them. which is sort of my pooint if these were revolutionary bassists he might have better song choices to illustrate tthat

  • Sure, i get ya drift... Perhaps "evolutionary bassist" was a better title ;).... I mean, it's all evolution of sorts

  • MCKAGAN IS GOD

  • Naw, Entwistle.

  • JUSTIN CHANCELLOR

he's a total bass boss and has written some of the coolest bass riffs one has ever and may ever hope to hear... forty six & 2... schism... etc....

  • this is not the list I expected. I really like it. Its straight to the point, bass at its finest. Guys doing there job right.

  • Paolo Gregoletto \m/

  • why there's no cliff burton?

  • burton was in the first one

    so was geddy

  • Steve Harris FTW!

  • I don't think most of these are Revolutionary bassists, often you even can not hear the bass...

  • where is Geddi Lee?? victor don't fitt here in hard rock, but he is the gratest bassist ever!!! :)

  • and where's Chris Squire, from Yes D:

    ?

  • LES CLAYPOOL???

  • For me 2 of the best, Victor Wooten and Flea.

  • Finnaly I see Frank Bello. ;]

  • NICE VIDEO! There are a few of these guys that aren't that revolutionary, lol. Let's not say the names, to save us from an argument, haha. ....But I will say that JOHN MYUNG AND VICTOR WOOTEN ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woot

  • WHERE THE HELL'S JACO GARY WILLIS

    Jimmy Johnson

  • and Dave Carpenter Jeff Andrews Jimmy Earl

  • @lidesnowi I think Jimmy Johnson is on this new season of Survivor.

  • they are all good, but none are revolutionary!

Jaco and Victor are the big revolutionary ones. Make a video about them

  • Throw in the likes of John Entwistle and James Jamerson and i'm with you man.

  • Bob Daisley did not play on no more tears.

  • i was just thinking that, it was mike inez if i'm not mistaken.

  • John Myung for president!

  • WHERE THE HELL'S JACO!?!?!?!? He started the entire bass revolution!!!

  • @Jaco352

No Jaco may have started one in Jazz but the person who kicked off the bass revolution is John Entwistle

  • That was a nice tribute to some of the major contributers to our beloved craft, thank you, I enjoyed watching that.

  • Mike Starr had played "Would?" before Mike Inez joined Alice In Chains. Mike Starr was replaced by Mike Inez in 1993.

  • If it doesn't work the first time, just try again! :D

Thanks for the upload, go screw WMG!

  • I#m missin' Geddy Lee and Chris Squire.... Gerard Butler, John Entwistle and John Paul Jones are Gods!

  • Great list but i personaly would like to see maybe geddy lee, jaco, marcus miller.. and a few others but good none the less

  • 3:20-4:17 are my two favorite bassists of all time.

  • great list

and... don't you like cliff burton?

  • As ive said in past comments, this video is named "Revolutionary Bassists II" for a reason. The other video, "Revolutionary Bassists I", was removed a few months ago, and Cliff was the first one featured.

  • @mauriliobr Cliff Sanitarium bass solo

  • @mauriliobr Cliff Burton Sanitarium bass solo, the bomb!

  • @mauriliobr Not only what that other guy said, but Cliff Richards sucked donkey dicks.

    True story.

  • i admire wooten a lot, but his style just doesnt appeal me at all, ive learned a lot from him tho

  • I would definately add Cliff Burton...just listen to Anesthesia, Pulling Teeth...

  • my favourites are Steve Harris , John Paul JOnes and John Myung

  • I did have another "revolutionary bassists" video, which included many of the names you guys want to see. Unfortunately it was taken down about 2 weeks ago. I understand this list pretty much sucks without the other one, but I cant really do anything about it.

  • Have you thought about reuploading it?

  • it wont work, theyll just take it down again

  • you do have an amazing selection, it seems like alot of people who post negative comments apparently didn't watch all the way through because they complain about people who supposedly aren't on the list but really are. but i do think you should extend it and add geddy lee, les claypool, jaco, and flea.

  • I had another video that featured many of those mentioned. It was removed two days ago

  • Epic fail....you didnt even have Jaco Pastorius???wth? hes like the innovator...No stanley clarke? Marcus miller? Les Claypool? wow lol

  • ok, Getti Lee in YYZ? Sting?

  • wheres fuckin steve harris and geezer butler

  • in there..

  • i like your bassplayers selection...

  • No Jaco Pastorius? He is the best bass player.

  • NO LES CLAYPOOL??

  • victor wooten and billy sheehan...the best bass players on the earth

  • and...Flea???Red Hot chili peppers??

  • ahahahahaha!!! there are the better riffs of guitar of paul gilbert! racer x and mr big. you should call this video Revolutionary Guitarist: Paul Gilbert!!! :D

  • the guy from trivium? you on drugs mate?

  • I wasn't necessarily saying that you should have listed Charles Benevent or Jimmy Haslip. I was just saying that they are revolutionary (in my opinion) and have influenced me.

  • Charles Benevent and Jimmy Haslip are extremely underrated! They are among my favorites along with many many others! Awesome choice for Victor Wooten piece! Are you familiar with Victor's work with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones?

  • many of these bassist weren't revolutionary, they were just extremely good, they didn't revolutionize it in any way

  • have you ever listened to rush? i think geddy lee should be right up there with vic wooten (i know its your list, but im just sayin)

  • Please watch the first one, (Notice the II on the end), where I highlighted Geddy's solo in Tom Sawyer.
