  • ... TooL

  • That's exactly what I was saying. Read more closely.

  • clearly a remarkable drummer

  • snaredum110....Quit pretending to be a drummer as you aren't even close. You are a very poor internet troll living in your parents basement who apparently is very jealous of successful musicians and spends way too much time proving it. NOTHING MORE!!!

  • i love tool.. hate the fans.. quit over analyzing and just enjoy tool for fucks sake!

  • terry bozzio

  • Joey Baron and Jimmy Chamberlain rate a mention as good drummers...

  • I don't know why people are dumbfounded by his apparel, he's a fan of american basketball. makes sense he'd wear that shit

  • @nubnubnubbin And it's comfy to drum in!

  • i accidentally the whole video!

  • when i listen to danny carey i feel like what he plays is not humanly possible. i always have to him up playing afterwards to believe it.

  • so he goes to clinics and plays drum solos straight out of songs that he's played a hundred thousand times and tells noone? that video lined up too perfectly with the concert solo..

  • Where did you get the audio??

  • Your so lucky, you met Danny and got to touch his drums.

  • Carey is not just a "rock" drummer. He's very diverse which puts him up there with Neil Peart. The guy can march a snare drum cadence or flow a jazz set.

  • you are exceptionally retarded in all parallels...but you do have good taste in music in all of them.

  • This is Merkaba. A live, nonetheless kickass version though.

  • Have to put it out there...For all those guys claiming Tommy Lee is a showman and better cause he plays...upside down, WHO FUCKIN" CARES!. The drums are in the same spot and in the same order as they always are. IF when he went upside down they all the pieces switched spots and he had to play the snare and ride cymbal with his feet...then i would be impressed. Right now Danny is still writing songs while Tommy fails as a solo artist and gives chicks hepatitis.

  • fucking amzing

  • who the fuck even mentioned DANNY CAREY and tommy lee in the same fucking sentence/breath. Slap yourself in the face. Now...

  • This guy is f***ing talented as all hell!

  • Tommy Lee a close second? You realize you started off with a god of drumming (Peart) then tried to throw Tommy Lee in with him? Who the hell do you think you are.

Take the next 25 years of shows...........and get a clue.

  • @xxGl2IMxx chill out lmao damn

  • Comment removed

  • Great drummer, but good lord those shorts and basket jersey look AWFUL. Get a haircut while you're throwing those clothes away.

  • @hourglass44 you have much to learn about danny carey... get rid of the basketball jersey and cut his hair..... sad day in the world of tool..... thanks hourglass you've ruined my day

  • @hourglass44 The jersey is his way of showing support for his favorite team. The shorts are merely for comfort while playing. And without the hair, Danny just wouldn't be Danny.

  • @zcrawford81 Yes, I know that this is his way of showing support, etc. Yes, I am aware that he played college basketball, etc. And, yes, I understand that he is a "rocker," so he wants long hair. None of that changes the simple fact that his clothes look AWFUL, as does his hair.

  • @hourglass44

You've really gotten to the core of talent. How pretty someone is. If a drummer looks good after a session, he's a shit drummer. I think it's fitting that he wears athletic clothing becuase the way he plays is just as strenuous as any professional athletes workout. If you have any talent worth watching, could you post a video. Then we can see how pretty and well dressed you are.

  • @DoctorBlissphd Can the idiot ever wash his stringy ass hair at least? Ever?

  • @snaredrum110 no he can't. can you drum like him? i think the answer to that question is no as well.

  • @TheToolisgod Tool is God? To you really? You 're fucked already kid.

  • @snaredrum110 quit judging people asshole

  • @foreverisalie713 he's a troll... a professional troll. Ya that sort of thing exists.

  • @zcrawford81 Yes, I know that this is his way of showing support. Yes, I am aware that he played college basketball. And, yes, I understand that he is a "rocker," so he wants long hair. None of that changes the simple fact that his clothes look AWFUL, as does his hair.

  • @hourglass44 or maybe he just likes those clothes... his opinion... I like long hair, though I'm not a huge fan of the jersey and shorts... but that's just me.

  • @hourglass44 Uhh, who gives a shit what his cloths are or if you like his hair? What does that have to do with his drumming?

  • @xillerin Well, obviously you don't care. However, that doesn't change the fact that he looks like a clown. And, no, it has nothing to do with his drumming, but I never said that, did I?

  • @hourglass44 He doews look like a hobo with some faggotass basketball apparel. How un musician looking can you get. And that stringy ass filthy hair??He is an idiot in real life most likely..

  • @snaredrum110 Lol Ironically enough he attended the University of Missouri - Kansas City, Has delved deeply into the subjects of Geometry, Science, and Metaphysics. The "Faggotass basketball apparel" comes from the fact that he sometimes plays in the NBA entertainment league. Ray Liotta and Michael Rapaport are also on his team. Must be a total Idiot.

  • @magicmochaman dude, its actually cause hes a fan of the team and one of their players has the last name carey so he got a jersey in his size to show his support for the team...

  • @metalmike601

    Umm.... No.

  • @metalmike601

    the skinny co uk / music / features / 37396 - tool _ counting _ down _ days

  • @snaredrum110

When one is as talented as Danny Carey, one can wear a tube-top, a sock over the genitals, a flavor flav neck clock, and rotting meat on ones head and it wouldn't matter. What kind of sissy assed boy band cares what they wear when they perform? I saw Maynard in a blue speedo once(only the back of him, he didn't face the crowd). It didn't effect his performance one bit. TOOL is about music, not getting on the cover of 17 magazine.

  • @DoctorBlissphd Tell the stringy can't seem to ever wash or comb his hair village idiot that.1.. I am a better drummer and am willing togive him lessons to up his game if he has any money...and 2.. he is an ugly thing to watch play. Very unentertaining visually. Like yuck..

  • @snaredrum110

Please post a video of you drumming. I'm sure everyone would love to see you play better than DC. Make sure you wear really cool clothes and brush your hair so you look like Bieber. That way, when your obvious talent is seen in the video, we can immediately get you on MTV, where all of the superficial, vapid, talentless, crap gets shown 100 times a day before being forgotten. You wouldn't want to emulate someone who's respected by every talented drummer out there.

  • @snaredrum110 You just proved to every decent drummer that you’re shit at drums. To say that Danny Carey is an idiot only shows your ignorance to percussion. Usually if one can’t understand something, he or she looks down upon it. Have fun making it nowhere in life.

  • @SuperBearJew Proof of Snaredrum110's 'talent'

    watch?v=dGcy0vhnu7U&list=UUg04C2GdwUdbOt69w4HLc1Q&index=1&feature=plcp

  • @DoctorBlissphd When one is more talented at drums than stringyhair, suckass basketball playing wannabe Danny carey Like I am then I smoke his second string (to me) ass on drums w/ease.

  • nothing else to say but badass!!!

  • the grudge... the best last minute ending ever!

  • damn.

  • The grudge solo just gives me goosebumps

  • Tommy Lee a close second? Really? I always thought Tommy Lee was only good at spreading Hepatitis. I really enjoy D.C and Tool

  • @iYellRandomly one of the lest flashy drummers of his level ever.....basket ball shorts and a kansas jersey?

  • @iYellRandomly You've misunderstood me, my comment was directed at someone who was mistaking showmanship for musical skill. "How many drummers have you seen spinning 360 while still playing?" was his comment.

  • @ISISbandLive Did you answer the question? How many? Playing upside down. How many? Yeah showmanship! That's why you go to shows! I often listen to Lateralus front to back, and Danny's work still mystifies me. If Tommy had the surrounding talent that Danny does, well it would be different. There was no mistake friend, it was simply about the live performances. Some of the hate though, clearly negative and off topic, gets tedious.

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 A showman does not make a good drummer. Tommy Lee is at the bottom of the barrell as far as professional drummers go.

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 Well, there's; Tommy Lee, Joey Jordison, Travis Barker, Charlie Adams, Buddy Rich, and Jack Valentine. Probably many others as well. Sorry, just realised I didn't reply to these. I would be far more entertained by the spectacle of a Tool show than that of a Blink 182 show or Motley Crue show. Guess it's a matter of preference though.

  • tommy lee would be second to me on the giant cock list. swear it

  • Comment removed

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 I can spin round while jacking off. Doesn't make me one of the greatest masturbaters in the world however.

  • Comment removed

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 Well, sir. I'm glad you think so. Although, I hope you seek help for your exclamation-point problem. I know, it's hard not to be obnoxious sometimes, but, I think you'll manage it. Eventually.

  • @ISISbandLive Sorry, frustration sets in. I do not suffer fools gladly and some responses to a simple observation and opinion I made, not to proclaim being an authority, on some shows I have seen. But when you are deluged by a flood of expert analysis, I felt the need to be emphatic. Obnoxious? Perhaps, communications have never been a problem for me, but thanks for the support. Rock, don't hate.

  • The only list that Tommy Lee would ever be second on would have something to do with giant cocks.

  • I'm not sure if he is a good soloist but is a great drummer! One of the best actually. He is at my top 5 :)

  • i love that he's wearing a Kansas uniform. Richard Christy, another great drummer, is from Kansas. coincidence...?

  • Douche

  • @Lucidical Keep ignoring. YOU are the joke.

  • @Lucidical

Seriously, lay off the bluff. You're the ignorant that does not listen any good music.

My grammar in english is better than yours in French. Try to ignore this too.

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1

    Tommy Lee a close second....wut?

  • @somedude2319 amen, brother

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 I agree Carey is the best, but if Tommy Lee was number two on your list then you need to listen to a lot more drumming my friend.

  • @fc2122 tommy le sucks cock, he is an average drummer

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 you really think tommy lee is a drumming great?

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 yup just like wine..gets better with age!

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 peart is way better

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 im not having a go but... u mite wana check out gavin harrison, jojo mayer, and benny greb they leave tommy for dead. and thats only a few there are many more. its ur opinion but im just sayin.. check out gavin harrison at drummer live 2008. it isnt his main band tho, his main is Porcupine tree and they are insanely good. on par with tool for me

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 Would just want to tell you about Gavin Harrison in that case, the most smooth and talented guy I've seen closely followed by neil and danny :D

  • @HEAVYMETALMARK1 lol tommy lee is just a paparazzi magnet. Hes an entertainer, not a proper drummer. i mean he can drum, but he is not really very impressive. Check out vinnie colaiuta, dave weckl, bobby jarzombek. those are skilled drummers

  • Well edited. Enjoyed a lot!!!

  • I didn't know for a long time that there even was a drumsolo in the end of Grudge. Tools music is so deep I find always just more and more incredibleness from it.

The most epic drum solo ever, and it's a part of a song.. this is evolution ladies and gentlemen.

    He's beyond human.

  • Danny Carey is amazing, as a drummer I can only hope to copy what a master artist has made! Thanks danny for the music / art, you are my inspiration.

  • Jesus f'ing Christ.

  • 75% of TOOL listeners are tennageers that can sometimes have beards.

90% of them are totally ignorant of what is music and bluff all the time about it.

I'm not surprise that one of the ten best composer from the last 300 years have been banned from radio in his own country ! They can't even point their fucking country on a worldmap...

  • @Informatisse the math made no sense lol but i guess I know what you mean

  • @Informatisse Yeah i agree with you. You could say that some TOOL fans turn out being TOOLS. I love tool and i hate how some people worship maynard and say hes "God". Some tool fans are totally ignorant and oblivious.

  • @GuitarRocks23455 IMHO every member of the band is a fucking kung fu master of his instrument. They are kung fu MASTERS i tell you!

  • @GuitarRocks23455 its amazing how you can confuse people who are slaves to something, to people who respect and praise talent.although sure it may be ridiculuos for someone to comment on maynard being a god.but for christ sakes dont take those comments literally people just love thier favorite band/singer/drummer.and i highly doubt most mean what they say when they comment on members of the band being gods.everybody has a differnt way of expressing themselves.

  • @triforcedude nope every time i turn on my amp i close my eyes put my hands to the sky and ask Adam jones to watch over me and carry me through today's jam.

  • @triforcedude noo maynard and danny really are gods! ( :

  • @triforcedude maynard IS a god damn it!!

    i pray to him everynite!!!

    lol i keed ikeed

  • @GuitarRocks23455

    ;) thx for your support.

  • @Informatisse and the 1% shit talkers like you who apparently like to stereo type tool fans have thier heads up thier asse's and badly crave some attention to what they like.I dont know where you get your statistics from but most tool fans in my opinion love the band for thier creativity, and not just thier singer.

  • @triforcedude The 99% like you are the stereotype eaters. You don't know about creativity. You listen a monotonous teen band dude, wake up !

  • @Informatisse I'm a teen and i can grow a beard, but thats not the point, I love TOOL and think their the best because of their mastery of their trade, you have Maynard which in my opinon has the best vocals simply because of his wide range, and Danny is the best drummer out there becuase of his seemingly never-ending creativity on the drums, as far as Adam and Justin I'm not to shure because I don't play the guitar or bass, so I can't judge what they can and can't do, but I do knowitsoundsgreat

  • @XMrPolyRhythmX No, the problem is young people like you simply ignore what music is. You don't listen to Jazz, Classical, Afro, Latino, most of you even ignore Zappa, the greatest compositor of the mid 20th century.

I guess none of you know Uzeb, Fela Kuti, or Hancock. What about Corea? Bill Evans perhaps?

What do you know about simplicity, when you obviously know nothing about complexity? Carey is not the best, neither 20 years ago or now. LIsten Colaiuta ffs.

  • @Informatisse ? I do listen to jazz and classical, but certainly not Afro or Latino, In my opinion a good musician is one who sets theirself apart, and creates a new sound in the world of music, TOOL has certainly done that.

  • @Informatisse sorry I forgot to finish - I don't think that TOOl is the only artist to do that, but I certainly think they're one of the best, not compareing them to some of the first composers of music

  • @XMrPolyRhythmX Do you mean back when the Lute was King or way before that?

  • @4stringswing I'm refering to people such as amadaus and motzart and sabaschan bauch, the first composers of music for the orcestras back in Europe. They were the ones who technicaly started the music that we know of today.

  • @Informatisse dude you blow my mine im 15 i listen to tool and i can get a beard going

  • @Informatisse

Informatisse is a member of Tool. He is trolling for the amusement of the band. No other theory explains his severe auditory deficiency .His page is all about Frank Zappa, and he has made multiple comments saying Zappa is better music than Tool. Why would you comment so many times on a drummers video, but your "god" is a guitarist? It's not like Zappa's drummer was doing anything special. I could see him commenting on an Adam Jones video or something, but Danny.....come on.

  • @opiate717

    - I will never be a member of TOOL even if my nightmares.

    - I have good ears BECAUSE I listen Zappa

    - My pages is not all about Zappa, I just have a video on it and many playlist (a douzen) included at the end 2 for Zappa

    - I say and repeat (yes) that the Mothers Of invention are better than TOOL, because this is true and I can't stand liars, especially when they are teens.

    - Zappa's drummers, do you know? They ARE doing special things.

  • god he is good, ...damn, hey dude did you heard about a FEMALE DANNY CARREY?

she is call Katy Elwell, drummer of lizZard

if you can t believe it with my words well you can see it by this vidéo

    write lizZard drummer Katy

and watch it yourself how good she is, Carrey would be proud

  • @patriota54 hi i lisented her she is really good but daney uses a lot of paraddidles she doesnt anyway she plays better than o lot of musicians

  • He makes the back of my throat go numb hes so good

  • @ras29298 That's the coke snortin', Ciacci! XD

  • i like danny carey, and love tools music and he is definately one of my favorites. however, it still annoys the hell out of me to see people on here saying he is the "best in the world." there is no such thing. do you know how many drummers there are? doubt it. have you seen every single one of them play? not possible. thats a very ignorant statement, although i respect your opinion. EVERY drummer is different and unique.

  • @soundmind529 TWO THUMBS UP....VERY WELL PUT!!

  • Comment removed

  • @MrRonRon0101 thanks bro. this iWentToNam is an obvious troll. fuckin pathetic. if you like a drummer for his skill, great. it is your right to have that opinion. i dont think someone should go around saying "he is the best in the world." its nothing but pure ignorance. music is an art form with many abstract ideas that cannot be rated in such a way. every drummer is unique, and DC is one of my favorites. you are obviously smart enough to understand my perspective.

  • @soundmind529 Rofl! your a retard, they dont just say hes the best cuz they love the band, even people who arent fans of tool say hes the top drummer and that is because he has so many different patterns and changing time signitures in his songs, he also writes alot of his songs so before you have a little spaz at every1 just think first you dick

  • Amazing drummer, but very awkward looking person lol

  • I would do unspeakeble things just to experience this...

  • @distubedrat and give up unimaginable body parts, lol

  • Big fucker isn't he?!! Danny and his kit are 1!!

  • Comment removed

  • Fucking amazing. Nuff said.

  • Comment removed

  • simply put pretty flawless drummer!!!!!!!! tool king!

  • His bass drums sound immaculate.

  • can you imagine, a world without Danny Carey? No, he was going to be a basketball player though, could have never became a drummer for tool. =( But he did...=)

  • carl palmer crushes his a@@

  • That was so fucking boring, I literally felt like I was watching a highschool talent show drum solo. This guy is NOT the best drummer alive I'm sorry lol

  • @TheRedJunglist and MIndstormRecs: your BOTH fucking retarded. shut the fuck up

  • That was definitely one of the most uninspiring lame 80's drum solos I've ever seen, if you people think he's the best you're fucking retarded lol

  • danny carey amazes me in the fact that his technical approach is one the best, but his ability to have tasteful reserve and his amazing use of dynamics are second to none!!!

  • I hold Carey to be the most creative drummer in the world, and he's among the best. But to me, the best drummer in the world is Gavin Harrison!

  • DANNY CAREY IS THE WORLDS BEST DRUMMER

  • This gives me chills. I can play a couple songs off Aenima front to back but this is so beyond anything I can do. The man is a god.

  • @MeThoD987

calling him a god only restricts his limits, he is beyond god, the one we mere mortals refer to as Daniel Edwin Carey (aka Danny Carey) is some next level dimensional being capable of destroying whole galaxy's with two pieces of wood, yes weapons of mass percussion you might say...

  • @ShroomSamich

I once saw a fan ask Carey how to play 46 & 2 and Danny's response was:

"Actually, you can never play it because is was recorded in an alternate dimension."

  • @ShroomSamich What. The. FUCK. lmfao

  • im a guitarist, so im quite ignorant towards drumming, but I know music and Carey is the only drummer who's solos I find interesting... very, very, mind fuckingly interesting.

  • That autograph is awesome!!!

  • Danny Carey is not the best drummer in the world, IMO. He's the most creative drummer in the world! He thinks things up few drummers can think of in their most tripped-out state. He is an incredibly gifted drummer, but the best in the world to me is Gavin Harrison!

  • @Oxpost

He's not very creative. Sorry, but many drummers have hundreds of grooves in their pockets, when this guy do the same things all along. Gatzen, Colaiuta, Mayer... the list is hudge. In fact, Carey is one of the few drummers on the drummerworld list that is the less skilled.

  • @Informatisse Have you ever even listened to Tool? The stuff he does is extremely hard and intuitive. Mayer, Colaiuta and Gatzen are great drummers but, to me, they don't do anything in particular to set them apart from others in their genre of music (ok, Mayer does). Carey on the other hand does stuff I haven't heard anyone do before him. That's creative, to me!

  • @Oxpost

I don't fell his beats as very hard but very easy (except when he work a polyrhythm during 2mn without changing it, what makes me laugh) : it's basic Metal binary patterns, with fast tiny combos (double pedal + toms, a classic use in Metal).

Give me someone doing what Gatzen can do. Same for Colaiuta. If you think they all do the same stuff, this is because they have reached THE level from wich differences are subtle.

  • @Informatisse i would love to wach you play schism or lateralus or ticks & leeches, or jambie or rosetta stoned.... the only 2 songs they have that are maby even some what easy are sober and the pot...... so make a vid of your self playing one of those and show us how EASY it is.........

  • @shakakamooroar

And for information : we don't have to play something to critisize it.

I don't have to murder someone to know murder is bad.

I don't have to play Carey's works to know it's easy most of time.

  • @Informatisse . How many youtube drummers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

    100. 1 to the actual drumming and 99 to say they could do it just as well., if not better.

  • @RingoZabel from my experience, guitarist fight more amongst themselves for reasons of prestige than drummers do.

  • @shakakamooroar

A guy played his pieces, here : watch?v=DRSwIuoZRxQ

Now, what can you say? Hmm? Hahahaha.

  • @Oxpost

Carey is below this skill, so his simplicity appears to be creative, when in fact he doesn't have the skill to be really creative. His creativity approach his will to learn drumming wich is low. I think it is relative to his feeling, he's not interested in fully learn drums, he's got a slow feeling, and MeTal is perfect for him.

    watch?v=s604Pa-waH0

Here's an example of what is usually called "drumming".Ifyou can't see the difference, yo got a problem of objectivity.

  • @Informatisse I love the fact that you link me a video of the man I hold as the best drummer in the world right now! I still think Carey is one of the most CREATIVE drummers in the world. He's not the best.

  • @Informatisse ur saying wat ur saying wat ur saying based exclusively on this video and ur just using this thread to preach ur fanboy bs and plug ur drummer. get the fuck out of here

  • @GorcStew

If you think I'm gonna leave just because of your dumb comment, you got a serious problem of mental health. I'm here since a long time dude, go back to your mom.

  • @Informatisse

ur post screams "fanboy" and makes no sense whatsoever. so of course ur going to get that kind of reaction from ppl who actually came here to see Danny Carrey playing. and now ur telling me to go back to my mom? wow u really know how to hold ur own... Given ur last comment I'd say ur probably a prepubescent virgin living in ur mom's basement who just finished outgrowing pop music. Congrats.

  • @Informatisse Where did you learn how to talk? I've read through a lot of your previous comments and you don't appear to have a great grasp on grammar.

    Just saying.

  • @martse11

    I learn from internet.

  • He's the best.

  • He sounds like a complete marching band in some parts of this song...

  • I own DW collector series drums - Awesome. But I tell you, after drumming for more than 25 years. The top-of-the-line SONOR (whatever SONOR is calling them now) are the best sounding drums in the world. You gotta pay like $3,000.00 for one bass drum, but damn, If you ever hear them live in concert or have been lucky enough (not likely) to have played a top of the line SONOR kit, you would understand. Those damn Germans and their obsession with engineering. It shows up in SONOR's sound.

  • This is GOD!! there are alot of drummer gods out there.....buddy rich, jojo mayer and so on.........Danny Carey is GOD!!!

  • goddam he makes it look easy... bastard lol.

  • toms sound fucking amazing and the solo had so much style... hes even better than i previously thought.

  • ive been a drummer for 14 years and no-one has inspired me more than danny carey his creativity and feel is unsurpassed for me. it might be metal drumming but danny has brought it into a different craft alltogether. anyway thats my 2 cents

  • @worldcitizenforever shut up...troll!

  • I wish Tool had made some Concert DVDs, but the sound from the second half of this video does quite well: the sound quality, and the way Danny Careys moving on the drums. They do line up very well, Thanx.

  • he looks like a basketball player with long hair

  • I must say Danny Carey is the best drummer in the worlds right now, he has the elements of a lot of great drummers throughout history even elements from drummers that still live, like brufford, mastelotto, peart, haake and such, he has re-invented the way in which drums can be played, a lot of drummers out there have great skill, but like Danny carey, no way.one and only.

  • @Toolguitarplayer Hey man check out Thomas Pridgen too. Danny is legit status son.

  • @ilovecincinnati513 Oh no one of those "Thomas Pridgen!!!!!!" people.

    the guy's NOT a musician,get over him =\

  • @Toolguitarplayer no showmanship as a drummer = fail
