i was there from 90 til 94 went to Ft Clayton elementary Diablo elementary and Curundu middle man i miss panama i would love to go back Albrooks Officers club was awesome back then
my father was a military policeman in the panama canal zone and met my mother there. they were married for over 50 years before he passed away. i was researching an acronym (CAIRC) on one of his old badges and found out it stood for Carribean Air Command, at the albrook base. thanks for the video.
@johnnyghee No worries; I find the CAIRC acronym curious because I haven't come across this term both in the US and in Panama; perhaps, the term was before my time :)
I use to like on Albrook when I was in 10th and 11ht grade near the back gate right across the street frin a gig Playground. MAN I miss it. I loves living there... :~( I want to visit someday
It doesn't look like it has changed much since I was there in '58-'60. Even the house numbers are the same. I'm not sure what street we lived on, but it was only 11 units away from this one, on a hill between the end of the runway and the BOQ.
naw, not really. they do have a bunch of large apartments planned in the area, though. they're going to build up as many green areas as humanly possible. we're negative as hell about it, needless to say.
I was 24th Security Police on Howard/Albrook 1972-73 and loved the assignment. Remember Pizzeria Napoli, Gran Morrison, Ancon Inn, Golden Key, The Pub, Canal Zone College, Goofy Falls, all of it?? boy what a great duty sttion. too bad...
It sucks that the military is gone from there now. The American dollar went a long way down there. I left in 1994 and would've expected to see the locals scavenge that area to once the treaty expired.
I think you misunderstood what I meant. I know the treaty expired. I had already left Panama prior to that. With the poverty stricken areas not far from the bases I would have expected the poor to strip the housing areas, but obviously not. I am glad to see and glad to hear that they didn't. I plan to go there sometime soon to visit and see how the bases turned out since then.
yes mckin your right i use to live in albrock back from 1979-1983 and i use to go everyday to the youth center everyday and bowling ally and cafe and howard afb and clayton there is albrock mall i was in panama 2 years ago and may go back in dec for vaction you live in albrock right now

hope he's not too mad when they build a skyscraper in his back yard.
wormpiano 3 years ago
Is someone going to develop the airstrip? They've already built a nice mall; yet, a skyscraper seems a bit ambitious for Albrook in Panama City!

Wow, I didn't know there was so much demand to live in Albrook; it's always seemed like such a sleepy area.
