My dad told me that in the states all the news ever covered was how vicious the irish were and was in total support of britain. @ps1019 Nothing is going on now.But up until the early 2000's.In Northern ireland Protestant settlers of Scottish descent Started marching through Native Irish Chatolic neighbourhoods which made the native irish angry and riots begun in 1969.The native irish where treated as second class citizens in their own country and where discriminated.This lead to the New IRA who used terrorrist tactics to try and free NI and unite with Southern ireland where i'm from.It didn't work however.

@efergrhyt I merely said that if you assert that Dublin somehow has authority to rule Ulster then you could use the same moral precepts to justify English authority over Dublin. I then noted that it is common for seperate nations (as the Ulster-Scots ARE A SEPERATE NATION) to exist on the same island under different governments (I believe I used the example of the dominican republic and haiti).
