The problem was an OLD magazine with spread feedlips. I told him to function check mags, carry a spare, etc. Well it was his first time, and he learned his lesson.

Yes, I have read your description. But what he was using? AR15 type system, and some kind of pistol?

AR15 was a custom build by me. Cav15 lower with a custom built upper. Compass Lake barrel, JP handguard, JP low mass BCG, Vltor gas block, PWS FSC556 Comp/Flash hider. His pistol is a Sig P226.

After tossing that one bad mag, that rifle has run 100% for over 1k rounds.
