A lot of people griping about a 300 either just want to hate on Chrysler, Have never known the pleasure of a 300, or just want to pine after a German car they can never afford. The 300 is actually a more proper image of what a real middle-class luxury car is. I won't argue the minutia of it's engineering, Chrysler does better work w/ Mercedes parts than Mercedes personally, but you get a fine car for far less. The Germans can't touch that.
@BMan100 At some point Chrysler opted against Manuals in everything but the 300 SRT-8. It was a business decision more than fan adoration for stick. Chrysler won't change that to keep stick special and that too few people buy stick in their larger cars for it to make them money enough to afford it. Modern Automatics will to satisfy all but the most ardent prospects.

the 2012 srt8 was to compete directly with the ctsV- yes the 300 is heavier, less hp BUT for what you get, I understand why Chrylser pitted this against the ctsV- Cost. hitting up most options, you will be out the door 15-20 g's less than the ctsV. In 2 yrs when they correct the 5 spd auto and correct to a 8, this should be a real American car for years to come- Chrysler, you finally got it right

GM's 6.2 liter v-8 makes only 420 horsepower, their not double overhead cam engines!!!! thats why GM use SUPERCHARGERS to extract more power out or their PUSHROD v-8 engines. this HEMI is also a PUSHROD!!!! if chrysler put a blower on it it surely would make way more power.

I fully agree that this is a beautiful car. I'm not much of an American car fan,so this is something. However,I am perplexed by people who keep comparing this to a Bentley. I agree with his remark about the Chrysler taking cues from Bentley. Thats actually what they WANTED. The Chrysler 300 is a pretty car, powerful and the build quality seems to be on par. But it has the stigma of being on every street corner in the "hood". You dont see lots of these in Suburban neighborhoods. I also think that Chrysler made a terrible mistake when their Chief Engineer said "We model these cars to appeal to basketball players" LOL OUCH!
The new `011 and `012 300s look absolutely wonderful. A more refined and less blocky exterior than the earlier pre `011 300s, and certainly has a far more refined and luxurious interior as well. Imo, for those who say that Chrysler has destroyed the new 300s???,,,,should see a damn shrink in a BIG hurry!!! Chrysler has done an excellent job.
All you people talking about it looks like a regular car, yea maybe in pictures. See one in person and it still has the big blocky sedan look to it. It does not look like an accord or camry. It looks like a clasic american sedan, in 2012 form.

Chrysler destroyed the new 300. It's supposed to be big and beautiful, that's why it stood out. Now it just looks like every other car out there esp. with those gay headlights. Very disappointed in them. Guess I'll be looking for a 2010 SRT8 when I upgrade this spring.

I bought my 2006 300C SRT8 new. It has been - and continues to be -a great car. One day I hope to upgrade to this latest model. SRT8's are cars you have to OWN to fully appreciate.
For a modern US saloon it isn't too ugly, although an aesthetically decent-looking front end is ruined by those stupid LED fairy lights, all the rage among car manufacturers these days.
Range Rover, Audi, Mercedes, Jaguar and more...they've all gone nuts for the pointless blingy xmas lights. But that's what dumbass buyers want.
Also, the over-excited reviewer saying the Germans should "keep an eye" on this car is a funny joke. A good M5, AMG or Quattro would dick all over this chunky cruiser.
@Reegatron Of course the German cars would kill the SRT8, because if you paid that much and didn't get a substantially better car, it'd be criminal. The Chrysler and the M5 aren't really competing because their price-points are so different; even the CTS-V has to face being massively more expensive than the SRT8 four-doors. If you're looking for a sports sedan at this price point, the SRT8 is simply as fast as you get. They won't beat M cars, but a similarly-priced 5-series is toast.
@JETZcorp This is the most sense I've ever seen someone make when backing the Chrysler Corp. That's why I love Dodge in particular. Of course they don't compete with Euro makes, but they are also unbelievably more expensive, and Chrysler makes their cars on a budget compared to them. In the US we don't have Formula 1 testing on our cars like they do, and we still make these monsters, respectively. Also this dude is as biased as it gets on the lights. They're for looks, & I think they look fine.

I hate that thing. The old SRT8 looked american. Big, boxy, maybe stupid, but incredibly cool. With good old american muscle inside... This just looks like those chinese cars trying to be mercedes. They need import-like quality, not import (yuck) like looks.

@wagsbass reality check bud, they work cars for a living, you probably don't. Everything from a crap car to a Veyron and these people document it. I can't say I agree with Motortrend 100% of the time either, but regardless I'm sure they know what they're talking about. Also for the record, I'm not much of a Chrystler fan, I like Dodge preferably.

Ok, the Hemi is big fun but that German statement is just bold.
Even a Cadillac CTS is a better car, but that car doesn't even beat the best German sedans (Audi RS6 for example) But neither is Lexus.
