Their purpose is to make everything more dramatic such as Mamoru protecting Usagi by breaking up with her after a nightmare of her being killed. None of these things happened in the manga.

I don't like how the anime portrays Seiya as a male. His sense of fashion is a complete mess and plus that annoying voice for a guy. And I just don't like guys with long hairs.

@ivettexxx I don't now about him going to the dark side, but I know that that person in white wasn't exactly Darien. I was someone/thing Darien 'created' to watch over Serena. Right after we learn that, the white guy and Darien became one. So he is only there for 1 episode.
