  • pure funk baby!!!!!!!!!! i seen cameo 5 times in concert. they are the real deal

  • FUUUNNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh my God, I'm gonna die!

  • This was n Aruba not washington d c

  • @Cookboy100 Naw this is in Washington DC that's inside Constitution Hall. They came in 2005 I remember because I saw them twice that year. They probably went to Aruba later.

  • @HBCUMusicology my bad i commented on the wrong vid.....

  • unforgettable !!!!

  • they need 2 come out with a new album

  • WAIT! THAT'S IT? AW MAANN!! I WANNA SEE MORE!!

  • sorry I didn't see whole screen when I finished watching this

    coz I was too excited!!!!

  • I just can't believe it!!!

there is no comment on this clip

come on!!! put some comment on it

    I loooove CAMEO

    the best funk band ever!!!

    thanx for posting this!!!

  • @risaasrisa

Mistaken :-) I'm posting. CAMEO are just so COOL! Just listen to this legendary Bass-Line...da dam dam dadda. It's soo simple - and just sooo good and powerful. The Lord himself has stepped down to teach them' this...at least - this will remain forever - and furthermore these guys just have the groove!

  • Wow! Larry Blackmen a snob? My brother is a musician and Larry is one of his funk idols along with Larry Dotson from The Bar-Kays.

  • Love these cats. Been a fan since I was a kid.

  • I have to agree with infantryman46. All those bands are bad. Because when it comes down to it. It's all about personnal preference. Each band brings it's own style & flavor to the stage. I've been going to concerts since i was 5, 6, or 7 yrs old. James Brown was my 1st. I've seen hundreds maybe close to 1000 live performances, and counting. No B.S. I cant say who's the best. You see. everyone cant shine pimpn the same game as the other. So who's the better band?

  • No doubt it comes down to personal preference-always DOES and always WILL. Just like when dealing with women; many like Beyonce but give me Ashanti or Mya over her ANY and EVERY day-just MY PREFERENCE. But I still know one thing, when it comes to the FUNK, Cameo-THEY some bad mofo's!!! Eyes RIGHT!!

  • Hands up if you think dzire99 and Genteelness should be nominated for the

"best arguement on youtube over a video without getting carried away and turning into a slanging match and consequently entertaining all who read their comments" award!? that was awsome guys, made for a good read while the vid was playing!

    CAMEOSIS! <3

  • 'Hands up if you think

    dzire99 and Genteelness

    should be nominated for the

"best arguement on youtube over a video...'

LMAO...preciate the shout out and nomination, I did have a blast defending my boys Cameo; however it must be pointed out that behind the scenes I tried to reach out to Mr. G-teel-ness and he shunned me? Oh well, with the wind at my back I shall NEVER fret-CAMEoooOhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • favolosi grandissimi spero arrivino in italia.

  • That thing on his nob, excellently provocative!

  • Jock-man (dzire99) made me do this history lesson. Funk is from Ohio. Here's the playas list: DAYTON - Ohio Players, Roger Troutman & Zapp Band, Slave, Lakeside, Heatwave, Shirley Murdock, Sun, Dayton, Faze-O, Aurra, Deja, Steve Arrington, New Herizon, The Human Body, Xavier, Rufus Troutman. CINNCINNTI - Isley Brothers, Bootsy Collins, Midnight Star, Deele. CLEVELAND - The O'Jays, Dazz Band, Levert. AKRON - Howard Hewitt, Switch

  • Thanks for the lesson, Genteel. I had no idea all those folks were from Ohio.

  • @hickoid69 I thought they were from New York. I heard in an interview a while back that when they first started and in the process of picking a name for the band, they came up with the New York City Players. Their manager thought it would be confused with the Ohio Players. They were in Canada and saw a billboard with a cigarette ad - Cameo. Their manager suggested that name, and you know the rest.

  • @nutothis1 Thanks, nutothis. I'm hip to Cameo being an NYC band. I knew Blackmon went to Julliard and formed the band in the city. I was commenting on the Genteelness' long list of artists from Ohio. That's interesting, though, how Cameo chose their name. I always thought "Cameo" was a hairstyle.

  • For those asking what did the Bar-Kays produce: Son of Shaft, Too Hot to Stop, Attitude, Let's Have Some Fun, Holy Ghost, Do It, Anticipation, Hit & Run, She Talks to Me, Shine, Nightcrusin', Traffic Jammer, Move Your Boggie Body, I'll Dance, Shut the Funk Up, Shake Your Rump to the Funk, Boggie Body Land, Let's Git Bizzy, Give Me My Heart Back, etc. Allen A. Jones was the man! He was the original producer of the Funk!

  • 'Let's Have Some Fun' is in my opinion the Bar-Kays baddest funk jam and I could place several of Cameo's second tier hits against that and smoke it. I'll put my JV band, ConFunkshun against the Bar-Kays and let Michael Vernon Cooper and crew take care of my light work, cause you are clearly "Insane" and "Talkin Out The Side Of Your Neck."

  • You're beginning to make me think "99" is your age. What have you been smokin'? I'll put Zapp Band on ConFunkShun. That's the end of that comparison! It's not about just spinning records but also about stage performance and how they work the crowds. The Bar-Kays are a better performance band than Cameo. Larry Blackmon is lazy on stage. Too lazy to change his jock! Same ole Jock! The Bar-Kays will rock the crowd into a frenzy Jock-man!

  • Comment removed

  • "Dzire" is in reference to one of Cameo's many hits and I just put my own little twist on the spelling. "99" is in reference to my own personal standard; I am 99% satisfied with who I am, leaving the subsequent 1% to deal with the imperfections of the rest of the world, and myself, to keep me focused and reminded of the stupidity and ignorance that I will face in my journey, umm-hint hint!

  • Tell the truth gurlfriend, you're dyslexic aren't you??? No wonder you like Cameo. "SHE'S STRANGE!" The reason you run across so much stupidity and ignorance is because you're on the wrong road! Daah. Why don't you change lanes and admire a real fungk band?

  • You are a corny brother, country ass aren't you? Like Kool-Aid without sugar-WEAK as hell. "Like a stale fart" yeah I can see what your home education provided for you, very endearing, indeed. But let me wrap up our little debate by acknowledging this: This started out as a response for a Cameo video, the group that I sincerely follow and the group that you are doing a miserable job at clowning, yet you were obviously viewing. Nigga, I know exactly who I am, and trust me, you can't compete!

  • Look sweetie, you're right, there's no sugar in my Kool-Aid. I'm sure your cup runneth over Lil-man. You're a poor representation of someone that studied African American Studies and Communication. You should have your diploma revoked for using the "N" word. Didn't those whips and chains teach you anything at the University of North Carolina. Your parents should have sent you to the field to pick tobacco and cotton. Shame on you Mr. Doo-doo Man! Even Cameo would disown you!

  • On behalf of Cameo, the baddest band to work a stage, I thank you for all your support and love. May the wind be at your mothafuckin back and Cameosis in your mothafuckin heart. Peace-Nigga!

  • lol ... the only wind at my back is you fartin' out the side of your neck! Thanks for blowin' that retarded breath my way. Much love to you too Comatoses! Later-African!

  • "Nigga, I know exactly who I am, and trust me, you can't compete!" Funny ass stuff! I laughed and wheezed for 5 straight minutes! Thanks, I am having a rough time in my life now, and I needed that laugh...

  • Thanks "Shepp" and like we already discussed, keep your head up and stay positive. Find my boys Cameo and their inspirational song "You're A Winner" here on the Tube and that will indeed lift your spirits! ((("Don't be shy, keep your mind, above the sky...you'll soon find out, it's the only thing you need to get by!")))

  • Actually the age is 44, looking fine and splendid, a workout guru in mind, body and spirit. NOW, back to our regularly scheduled program-Cameo is more than Larry Blackmon, and "lazy' is a poor description. Cameo as a group brings calculated energy and a brilliant stage presence that is worked like a chess board. Can you say, CHECK-MATE! As far as your roll call on Ohio based bands, who cares? My group is Cameo!

  • Die coolsten Funker !!

  • For those doggin' the Mighty Barking Bar-Kays, they are truly the best funk band alive! Long before Cameo were the Bar-Kays so who's copying who? Larry Dotson will blow Larry Blackmon off the stage. The Bar-Kays are the best!

  • the bar kays were and is a great group and so as cameo, why anyone would compare the two including parliament beats me. They are different fruits in the same FAMILY producing SWEET sound. I grew with all those groups, they're all great and DIFFERENT flavors of FUNK. OLD SCHOOL RULES! turning 47. We need talent like cameo, bar-kays and parliament back to today's CRAP so called music.

  • Nigga pleaz...Larry Dotson can't carry Larry Blackmon's jock...er cod piece! The Bar-Kays are cool but they ain't no Cameo. Everyone has his or her favorite but Cameo brought it with substance, style and were organized chaos at it's finest. Their choreography was on point and the versatility was supreme. Cameo's sound was articulate and masterful. The Bar-Kays are tang while Cameo is tropicana, get yourself some vitamin "C" and enjoy!

  • It's on now! The Bar-Kays were rippin' it up before Cameo was born. The Bar-Kays were Otis Redding's and Isaac Hayes band before they started their own career. The Bar-Kays combined funk and rock before it was cool. The Bar-Kays used pyrotechnics and had the baddest drummer (Michael "Buckboard" Beard) in the industry. Larry still uses the python snake during Freakshow! The Bar-Kays will be at the Funk Festival in ATL this year, not Cameo. People walked out on Cameo in Cincinnati. SOS!

  • The Funk Festival in Atlanta? You domesticated underachiever. Cameo is international, doing shows abroad. You bragging about Atlanta, where Cameo sets up shop by the way, and Cincinnati-the nasty Natty, wow? That reminds me of the brothers who get a ride and only drive around the block and up and down the street in their hood all day and night. Atlanta? Cameo has been there/done that! And who cares about fireworks, I don't celebrate the 4th of July! Cameo "blows up" on their own! Word Up!

  • Oh I see you just can't let it go "dzire" just like you can't let go of Larry Blackmon's jock! The reason Cameo has to travel so far is because they can't see tickets to their own family members! Memphis honor and adore the Bar-Kays. ATL can't wait for Cameo to fall over! You're the only one holding on (Jock-boy!) And just where are you from: Idaho? Cameo is probably the only band you've ever seen. Please don't let me take you to school on Ohio Funk! Please don't go there Jock-man!

  • Speaking of Idaho, Cameo is indeed steak and potatoes while the Bar-Kays are a bag of lays. Don't need to go into what bands I've seen because I am all about the Cameosis. You are all over the place, Cincinnati, Memphis, Idaho. Anywhere else you wanna take me to try and prove your point? No funk band works the stage like Cameo, NONE!

  • That's right I'm all over the place. I'm not the "domesticated unachiever" you thought. I know more about the funk than you know about food stamps. Mother's Finest will run Cameo out of ATL. Mother's Finest is my funk band from the ATL. Sounds like you're all about the "Comatoses" just like your band Comatose, oops I meant Cameo. You shouldn't have dropped out of high school because you missed a lot of funk during those years you spent in the slammer. "Something's In the Air!"

  • Hahaha I must be talking to Steve Harvey on crack, a who's got jokes wannabe. Mother's Finest??? You couldn't come better than THAT? Wow, now I know how the man behind the curtain in the 'Wizard of Oz' really felt, delirious and delusional indeed. And the slammer reference, naw bro., University of North Carolina, African American studies and communications major, and a-m-e-o, the graduating class of CAMEO!

  • Like a stale fart that won't dissipate you refuse to go away. No wonder you like Cameo! University of North Carolina "IS" the slammer! Hahaha! You had to go their to learn about your own history??? I learned that from home and in high school. Why waste precious dollars learning you were duped? DO YOU REALLY "KNOW WHO YOU ARE?" - lol Communications major hey? What are you doing now, sorting mail??? Poor thang. You've been deprived. No wonder you're a Cameo fan. Poot-man!

  • gisteren geweest naar Cameo in paradiso in amsterdam, ze waren echt geweldig, jammer genoeg geen toegift, en Charlie Singleton zag er echt nog strak uit man, Larry Blackman was volgens mij een beetje moe.

  • I think his "protector" is liken to Michael Jacksons glove. I hope it is that - 'cause Cameo made good music with women in mind ( I guess ) tastes like candy ????

  • Amazing!

    lot of groove!

  • dident wayne cooper die from aids!

  • cameo is currently on tour, just left chitown in august.

  • cameooo.! the best 80s desde argentina, greetings..marcelo mendoza

  • Yeah man you´re right. Cameo, the best funk band of 80´s. Tengo todos sus vinilos, los colecciono desde 1981. Chile.

  • I LOVE CAMEO AS MUCH AS YOU DO, I grew up with that group in the 70's. I don't believe in comparing bands at all. They are like anything else, different flavors, different make, different sounds but like the bar kays and parliament, they sound goog to the ears. ALL ARE GREAT FUNK GROUPS. I love earth wind and fire, but I don't compare them to kook and the gang, the commodores, they're just great groups with different styles. It's best NOT to compare such talented groups,

  • I knew this group when they were forming. Some were from Brooklyn and some from Long Island!

  • the best funk group, period. word up! she's straaaaange, but i like it!

  • Cameo last album was "Sexy Sweet Thing" that dropped back in 2000. When is Cameo coming out with a new album. Does anybody know? Mr Cool wants to know what's up? What's the word?

    Peace

    Mr. Cool

  • they still alive awsome that bass is kicking

  • As a pure Cameo fan, and living constantly under the influence of a severe case of Cameosis, I have always appreciated the fact that Cameo NEVER used tacky dancers as props. Cameo stayed pure and true to their originality and did not need to cramp their style or stage with "distraction." Nobody...and I do mean NOBODY, ever did it better. "There's a party over here-YES SIR, party over there-YES SIR, come on and party...We belong to the Soul Army...happy young and free..."

  • Blackwell is killin' that drumset!

  • Blackwell is a beast but sorry cuz, that is Jon Moffett on drums. But nonetheless Cameo is a pure dynasty of musical funk!

  • I hope all you that are paying too much attention to the: "Red Cup" are female? It's Larry's thing and a Cameo trademark and as he once said "My cup runneth over!" The wind will always be at my back and Cameosis in my heart forever. Cameo thanks fans like myself for all of my ears of support and love, well THANK you Cameo for all of your years of great funky and entertaining music and live shows! A-M-E-O...the graduating class of CAMEO!!!

  • That base is funky as hell

  • WHERE ARE THE HORNS???

  • Saw them in Vancouver in late 2004,great show.I only wish the show had been a little longer:(

  • people gotta stop hatin on the codpiece...

  • You got that right. I guess the innuendo inspired other groups to do same thing... ie:Red Hot Chili Pepper???? Wake up people its an innuendo.....☻

  • hahahahaha! why hatin it? i LOVE it! (seriously!)

  • Does anyone have any more live performances. Back and forth keep it hot any thing new. Thanks

  • camoe is the bomb! locking on a groove always

  • There's that red cup again...

  • you do you have it yeah it is i love it

  • DOes any one have that song back and forth by them live

  • Simply funky! Greatest funk band argument is debatable. I personally like the barkays. In their heyday they simply put on the wildest live show i have ever seen with the flash cannons, snakes, and fire. It also helps that the music was funky as hell too.

  • Barkays were alright, but they were too derivative for my liking. always biting off of other band's sounds...seriously check it out. What great CDs did the Barjays ever release ? Cameo is simply on another level. Cameosis 4EVA!!

  • Tight...

  • Serious Funk. No one today is even close to this.

  • Damn right dude! You know it. Peace.

  • rad song "single life"

  • please a quality version of why have i lost you. the most underated ballad of all time.

  • Good!!! Do you have the music "use it or lose it"? Or "is this the way"? Thank you!

  • Cameo is the best funk band ever!!

  • ever heard of a little group called Parliament/Funkadelic? ha ha...i'm jus' clownin'...everyone's entilted to his or her own opinion...they iz bad....just not the baddest! ;)

  • Although they were groundbreaking in their own way, I personally like Cameo much better. Better songs.

  • I think Cameo is way out better than Parliament/Funkadelic who I also like but even live Cameo are way more structured whereas Parliament is just one big jam.

  • It's just a different style. nothing more and nothing less. But P Funk changed the music and i think cameo is just a very good funkband. I like them both

  • Man dat shit was tight. Preciate cha. Somebody need to tell Larry Blackmon it's time to let da codpiece go. He cool doe.

  • The codpiece became his trademark. Mostly related to gay men and I think that people and especially men who are so focused on it are homophobic, get over it and focus on the important thing, the music, the stank!!

  • I agree with most of what you say but I for one never associated the codpiece as being "related to gay men." Cameo were unique and fashionable and like I always said, they were not afraid to do their thing and were the absolute best at what they did. If any of their hit albums summed them up I guess it could be 'WE ALL KNOW WHO WE ARE.' Cameo kicked some serious ass, and I LIKE IT!

  • is Nathan even in this? I dont see him

  • Nathan has been with & without the band on various occasional moments.

The last Cameo-clip in which he appeared was "Sexy Sweet Thing" from 2000.

He's currently not an active member.

  • Saw them and The Barkays back in 70s when Funk Funk was out, I can't remember who they opened for though. I saw them again in Stuttgart around 1988 and they rocked, Big Boy was smoking them drums. They only stayed on for 45 minutes and i believe they went out with this song then the house lights came on. We had to pick our jaws off the ground and go home...

  • awesome as always

  • Sounds better in concert than on record.

  • cameo are the BOLLOCKS, cant wait to see them back in london town. Anyone got a cameo concert on dvd, .. how much BABY ?

  • cameo r the bollocks, cant wait to see them back in good old london town.

  • bad news you guys. Bass player Michael Burnett died jan 8 o7.

  • Great Concert!!! My dad is the Keyboard player in the background. I grew up hanging out with these guys and I never get tired of going to concerts. This was one of the best for sure!!!

  • wow-is your dad kevin kendricks? whats he been up to these days?

  • No - he isn't Kevin Kendricks. My dad is the only white boy to ever be in the band, Jeff Nelson. I've known Kevin for years though. Kevin worked on Idlewild, he even makes a guest appearence, but other than that and playing with Cameo I don't know what he's doin'.

  • Is your father the one playing keyboards in the Aligator Woman videos?

  • That's him!!

  • Jenill, all due respect to you and I think it's cool as hell that my boy Jeff Nelson is your pops, but he was not the "only white boy" to play with Cameo. There were a few including Patrick Buchanon, who was a hell of a lead guitarist.

  • saw these immortal funk icons..in st louis mo..at rib fest..i love them..da boys r bad,il skip work to see them or Prince..i wish i had a video of there live show.

  • This is the shit!!!!

  • SHO U RIGHT KWD007 !!

  • I know one thing the music was funky, and dude why the fuck would u bring up if he's gay anyway? You curious or something? Cameo is one of the best Funk bands to hit the seen. Period.

  • takes me back to when i saw them at the Norfolk Scope in the early 80's. please ignore the people with the crazy comments, perhaps if they saw the group live they would understand...

  • if they were another race wearing the same outfits would anyone think they were gay? The bottom line is that they are talented icons. Besides, every male group/band from the 1970's -1980's looked "gay" those were the times, living with out prejudice. We need that now.

  • NO, Larry blackmon, Tomi Jenkins, Charlie Singleton, and Nathan Leftenant are not gay. Actually Nathan might go both. YA neva know!

  • Nathan is not gay, Tomi is not gay and Larry is not gay. Neither is Aaron Mills or Anthony Lockett or Charlie Singleton. Some people just let envy and jealousy get the best of them.

  • God, dont you just love those base lines!!They were the best around in the 80'S. I still get down to them today, who cares if they are gay. anyone got attack me with your love or hangin downtown? happy soulboy.

  • Gay is Larry Blackmon and Nathan Leftenant. I don't think Tomi Jenkins is, but i could be wrong and Charlie Singleton , gay as the day is long.

  • This is hot!!! Cameo is one of the coolest bands in the world!!!

  • It sounded like a mix between skin and single life

  • It's called a "show" and the song that they wear these costumes is Single Life, about a guy who doesn't want to be married. Don't be so close minded.

  • if two guys walk onstage, one in a bride's outfit and the other in a groom's outfit and go into a mock wedding...what would you think?

  • If you guys that like Cameo. And live in L.A .They are performing at the greek Amp. Aug 25 2006 at 7 pm with morris day and the time, sos band, and whodini.

  • just posted clips of this concert. not the best footage, but check em' out.

  • Thanks for the info. My fave band of all time, great to hear they are still out there doin it! Is it still the same line up? I'm waiting for them to come to London again....

  • ohioplayer witch one is gay?

  • some of the members of cameo are indeed gay.

  • It's rock and roll, man! Just because they dress a certain way doesn't mean they're gay. Rock and roll has always been about non-conformity

  • any one got a clip of Sparkle i saw the one from the Tom Joyner show but i want an original or a different version

  • bien bien bien :)

  • put up anotherclip from cameo.... somethin funky!

  • I LIKE IT! THE BEST FUNK BAND TOO SEE LIVE!.........MANFUK.A.K.A. KEEPEROFFUNK!

  • what song is this?

  • its 2 songs she's strange&single life....manfuk. a.k.a. keeperoffunk@yahoo.com

  • She's Strange.

  • Skin I'm In

  • Owwww!..... Hell, yeah!

  • cool video.

    i have 3 concert videos from 1980, 1985 & 1986.
