@TheRadical I'll repeat what another poster said. The first part represents Xorn's darkness, 2nd half represents overcoming the darkness. Although everyone has different musical tastes, even different tastes in games so not everyone will like any one game (not even Super Mario Bros or Pacman xD)
The dark part means Xorn's darkness and the happy part means Yuki and his team wining over the darkness. I like the final boss theme, one of my favs. It has a meaning for each part in the song. Every clever if you ask me. :)
Kind of like this song, even if it doesn't seem to fit the idea of "final boss", though I guess this just isn't what I'm used to. As an aside, from what I have seen, Alfina is COMPLETELY UNLIKABLE. I've checked with other people, and apparently NO ONE likes her.
GAPING...PLOT...HOLES. That sums this whole game up. Geez, it's like they crapped it out before actually thinking the whole game through. I borrowed this from a friend and beat it. Battle system was great, I just wish they would take the time to make a good deep storyline with characters I can actually get attached to, all while creating a game that has more than just the main storyline.
I dont mean to be rude but, are you serious? Game Makers these days realized "most" RPG Fans dont care about deep engaging plot. Its all about shiny graphics, girly men, and easy to execute (and obtain) awesome attacks.
Dont believe me? Look at some of the most popular RPG's of this era: Final Fantasy XIII, Kingdom Hearts II, Eternal Sonata. One is not like the others. One HAS A PLOT.
We are a sad minority of RPG fans. Good RPGs still exist though (if you can believe it).
@Zenjin000 I meant that there were no sidequests. That's what I meant about the main storyline. And all three of those games had a plot, albeit Eternal Sonata was the only one that had a GOOD plot.
Thats what I was getting at. Good plot is very hard to find these days. As are decent sidequests. Last game(s) I can remember that had decent sidequests was.... Tales of Symphonia, Vesperia, Abyss, ect....?
And there were a FEW sidequests in Grandia III, but not particularly engaging ones. Like the whole deal with the kid detective (like i said, not all that engaging).
Its always good to find another REASONABLE and intelligent RPG player like you, it really REALLY is.
Played em', loved em'. Actually, I got each of them right after they came out (with the exception of the third one.... still lookin' for that one). They were frickin' amazing, gotta say. I liked the second one the best so far.
man i hated when Xorn created the vortex thing (damn i forget what it's called) and i would get everyone out of it...then Ulf would end up randomly running back into it...i mean "COME ON!!! WTF?!" and then he dies...SERIOUSLY!!!! but god damn i remember beating it and i was screaming at the top of my lungs for about an hour, running around the house "OH MY GOD I BEAT XORN, I BEAT XORN!!! YATAAAAHH!!!!"
Grandia 1 was a fantastic game hands down. But I don't see why people are comparing Grandia 1,2, and 3. They're completely different games. That's as if you're comparing final fantasy 1 to 7. Grandia 3 I found to be extremely charming with fantastic scenery.
Dude, You Played Grandia 1 and Still Enjoyed 3? I Envy To Have Ignorance Of Predecessors, Grandia 1 Wasn't About "We'll Try EPICZ For Great Eye Candies!" Grandia 1 Is Up There With Miyazaki And Disney
I agree, but keep this is mind. Now, Grandia, the game the first. It was a good game with a charming story line. But the premise of Grandia and the story in the big picture, well it's a little generic and bland. Though it executed beautifully. Grandia 3 for me just felt nice, almost like a surprise though not the best. It had the the same primes of the plot, with the same archetype as Justin. I thought the game was a lot of fun, alone it's graphics were quit good for PlayStation 2.
I played them both and I love both of them! The storyline for 1 and 3 were relatively the same. Two people fell in love and both the main characters had a dream and so on and so forth. I haven't played the second one yet, so I'm not sure if it compares to the others, but I found both games extremely entertaining and I can't say that one was better than the other besides the graphics. Grandia 3 had beautiful graphics, but Grandia 1 had a certain feel to it that made it special as well. ^_^
I totally agree. This final battle theme really tells a story--its so obvious. I think it works well, never heard anything quite like it in a video game.
hmm...you never know =/ i just find it odd after the seriousness of the song, it ends up all happy..i mean i could get killed by xorn during the happy part....it will seem as if they are celebrating my death..P.S xorn looks like a giant omnipotent ink stain XD
@Azurescar i know that was the hardest boss I played in my life. I had to go back to levels, train, get all of my sp bakc by perfect battles, then fight this dude.
this music didnt hype me up at all when i got to the final boss -.- i was expecting alot to since this is grandia and they are known for bad ass battle music
Yeah the final battle theme wasn't overly intense, but on the other hand I find it to be dramatic still...It kinda tells a story--the part in the middle (about 1:45) is uplifting and encouraging... like you can tell the characters are trying to pull together to overcome this threat to the world.
xorn disliked this song after his defeat....smh

@buttafly72 That's only clever if the happy part comes on when you're actually winning and not when Xorn is kicking your ass.

I don't like the happy part. It doesnt fit into the song. They should've done separate songs, one sad and one happy.

The song represents overcoming darkness I think. The serious part represents the darkness, the happy part represents overcoming it.
