I'm guessing the animation was done entirely in Inventor Studio, rather than Dynamic Simulation. Did you use positional representations or individually driven constraints/parameters?
wait, when i render stuff in inventor 2011, i can only select "shaded view with lines" and that looks crappy.. how did this guy make it look so realistic with just inventor?
someone explain to me what i need to make an animation like this..
@Spunn3d .unless im missing something, just scroll down in the materials list which is the very small box at the very top of the ribbon in black normally. There are loads of materials, even water and bubbles!!!!
Can someone explain to me please what the difference between autodesk maya, cad, inventor and 3ds max? I downloaded maya but im not sure how they're all different. What are these all used for?
@beastlydude762: ahmm.. as far as i concerned.. autoCAD is used for designing esp. in engineering.. machine design, architecture, etc. autodesk inventor is used for animating 3d models that was done in autoCAD or in other software (if it is compatible)... Maya is used for high level 3D modeling and animation... This software can be used esp in making a 3D films.. just like avatar.. 3D max is for 3D enhancement presentation.. it is more on 3D documentation and presentation.. that's my opion.. :D
is inventor really that much better than solid works because i never seen much bigs assemblies in solid.. really all inventor ass look so much intensive then solid or just .. i use solid 2010 and i know in experience that solid can do some pretty advanced things.. so i tried to use inventor and to me looks so awkwardly..
Inventor was created mainly for educational purposes. Solid works surpasses inventor by a factor of like 50. In my opinion Autodesk lowered their standards when they came out with inventor.
what kind of high school teaches stuff like this? In my school the most advanced thing we ever did with a CAD style program was design a small wall, nothing that moves.
@Scerab Depends where you live. Here in Utah there is a thing called JATC And it takes up half your high school block everyday either your first two or last two classes everyday for the whole year. I attended 2 years of it and all they really teach is this and engineering theory.
@Scerab Depends where you live. Here in Utah there is a thing called JATC And it takes up half your high school block everyday either your first two or last two classes everyday for the whole year. I attended 2 years of it and all they really teach is this and engineering theory.
@Scerab I am a high school teacher north of Pittsburgh, PA. I teach AutoCAD, Inventor, and a little of 3DS Max. Unfortunately I was never really trained on these 3d programs, even though I just graduated college in '06. A fellow teacher told me to look online so I have been trying to teach myself first and then the kids. The licensing costs about $4k a year, but its well worth it!
ha i know for a fact that takes for ever to make i didnt it with a short lil name and it took me a few hours but this is totely epic and would take a a while lol xD
I love this program! im in 6th grade and already learning how to use this program in tech class. A project im working on rite now is building a computer. im making every indivdual part and assembling them, but i've only been useing this program for a year, but so far i love it
Very nice! That's the only reason I like Inventor. I use AutoCAD to design, it feels so much easier to me, then open it in Inventor for animation. 3DS Max works, too. :D. Five STARS.
I am a sophomore and i use inventor in my engineering classes and it is the most amazing design program i have ever seen. My teacher gave me the program for free so now i can use it at home and do my own designs in my free time. Very useful tool in my opinion.
i would, but unfortunately i cant. my teacher gave me a special download code thing and its only good for one download. you might be able to get a 30-day trial or something off their website. google it or something haha
@NutsandGuts im studying a lot of different types of engineering. there's so many to choose from haha. right now im looking into computer and mechanical engineering with the autodesk inventor program
@NutsandGuts no, im only in 10th grade. I'm in the engineering academy at my school and this year i am in a principles of engineering class and an intro to engineering class. Next year i will be in a digital electronics class and a computer integrated manufacturing class.
with a nice computer, can you control stuff like this in real-time with Inventor? Say, with external controls (like a gamepad/etc)? That would be very cool.
it doesnt take too much processing power to render complex models because its not done in real time, so it renders frame by frame then peices it back together afterwards for you to export as a video file :)
Design and Drawing for Production? No worries, it will come with time. It was the same for me with programs as AutoCAD and 3D Studio during my college days. Youngsters will grasp it quickly since Inventor is a user friendly program. Good luck.
The motors are not stepper motors but either AC or brushless DC servo motors. They also have holding brakes in case of power loss on some models. The gearheads are all very low to zero backlash types. The main gearhead on the base is typically some kind of harmonic drive type.
actually looking at it again the cylinder in the back may be a safety feature to stop the arm if electric power is lost. cause there's a step motor that looks like it controls the main arm
actually the cylinder in the back is hydraulic, for moving the main arm up and down. The rest is powered by geared or timing belt electric motors with sprockets, ball screws, cams ect. and the die punch or riveter is probably air powered. i prefer pro engineer myself
You mean a hydraulic actuator/cylinder? No i dont think so, these robots arent hydraulic. Those black/red electric stepper motors power these robots .
They are used for completely different purposes. You're not going to use 3DS max for engineering a manufactured product. Inventor is to 3DS max as Photoshop is to Paint when it comes to development.
