  • why the heck would I delete a file and still be on the system? Am deleting it for a reason !!!

I don't want 1000s of copies made so someone can access it when am not around.

  • Recycle bin.

  • Dr. Hax: *raises finger* HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAX! *throws monitor*

  • isnt it windows can always restore our deleted stuff from the recycle bin ....

  • *Pokes the system restore button.* ohhhhh you mean accidently screw things up? *pokes the restore point button* Been in windows for a long time now.... Also, windows comes with a synch tool, it will back up files to where ever you tell it to. Using windows brief case you can synch files between two computers, extremely easily. There is also networking and about 50 other ways you can do what time machine does. Difference? Spinning pinwheel of death not included. Oh, its also customizable.

  • Comment removed

  • hey how much memory does time machine take up?

  • Congratulations MAC, you now have a tools PCs have had for years!

  • Lol at least us pc users are kind enough to say "Thats pretty cool" and not boast about all our great features like a self-centered faggot.

  • err dude pc had this back in 2001?

  • me: wow! microsoft word saved my stuff automaticly awsome!

    meanwile at mac

head of confrence table: ok so what new thing can we make for mac thats new.

random guy at the table: microsoft word saves stuff automaticly ...

    head: y-Yes

  • macs are just as susceptible to a virus as PCs but sense 70-80% of people using computers use PC's no one bothers to write viruses for Macs. (Sorry for the big words kids hope this wasnt too hard to understand.)

  • @yupperslupper2 The "Big Words" are no problem at all, but the grammar errors are.

  • @firefoxer666 (facepalm)

  • @yupperslupper2 that may be true..but notice something..MOST of the reasons why people using windows pc's get viruses is because of any combination of the following :1. More than 1 antivirus program, 2. TOOLBAR city, 3." i have to click on EVERYTHING. 4 " what's CUSTOM installing a program mean. oh i'm afraid that's too complicated..waa. AUTO install ( installs massive bullcrap that is not coherent to the program). 5. I gotta take my pc to geek squad & let them send it to 3rd party repair.lol

  • @yupperslupper2 solution? 1. LEARN HOW TO CUSTOM BUILD YOUR OWN PC. ( this is priceless & ALWAYS THE BEST DEAL, PERIOD..END OF DISCUSSION NOTHING CAN DISPROVE THIS) 2. keep it SIMPLE. One freaking antivirus or anti whatever program THAT'S ALL YA NEED. 3. learn to READ stuff. see if there are boxes that can be UNchecked & ONLY install the program you care to install. 4. since you had sense enough to build your own pc, YOU CAN troubleshoot it yourself also= $ SAVING & empowering. =happier ending

  • @yupperslupper2 Actually, thats not true, there is a competition to hack Safari, hasn't been done. Also, apple keeps their development top-secret and have their developers sign confidentiality agreements with the company. They take a lot of steps to prevent their software from being susceptible. Additionally, Microsoft hasnt deviated from the same design since Windows 95 (ME is the only exception) making it more susceptible. Only making the shift to the .net design which is not relevant.

  • Why is the .net frame work not relevant? It is purely there in order to make it easier to install things, not more difficult. Instead of making it harder for software develoeprs windows said, "Lets pull all the crap they need on the computer so they have to do less writting, meaning install files are smaller!" very good idea, but has nothing to do with viruses. So there you have it, windows are susceptible because nothing has changed and nothing is hidden. Also, users are stupid.

  • WHAT'S WITH ALL THE YOUS?!

IT'S BECAUSE EVERY FUCKING MAC IS THE SAME PC, YOU BASTARD!

  • pc had this way before, it's called system restore. pc ftw.

  • PC had it way before. It's called system backup. Jeez

  • a 2000 dollar mac is equivalent to a self built 700 dollar pc. And a 2000 dollar pc is 4 times better than a 2000 dollar mac. I'd love to give proof, but the macfags would just ignore the facts anyway.

  • Mac said Thanks PC!

  • There are only apple haters, because they can`t admit, that Macs are simply better!

  • @MacTech4ever95 How so?

    How are they simply better.

  • @MacTech4ever95 Are they better becouse they cost more yet are worse? I mean its BETTER income i guess...

  • @MacTech4ever95

Better at charging you 3X the price for the parts, sure.

  • doesnt that waste space? oh wait its a mac

  • @pinoyrobot actually they probably don't copy much of anything more than once. It keeps track of changes to files and how folders are organized (pointers, references, links) For a deleted video, for example, it could have been recorded to have existed in a few different folders for 230 different backups, but only one file would be stored. If it was edited... well I suppose in at least most cases another file might have to be made. Backup features should favor system files 4this situation I think

  • pcs can do that too

  • He changes his clothes EVERY hour... Wow, OCD much?

  • I don't know anything about this feature, but the way it is described in the commercial is the same as windows recycle bin.

  • SupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSupSup

  • And...for those of us who aren't retarded as fuck, there's Windows and Linux. This is one of the stupidest features I've seen yet.

  • hmm every hour each back up prob takes 1mb and if you delete something then its still on there so you cant delete anything

end result: you'll be out of HDD in about a year

  • @supernoob26 what?? do you know what a back up is?? the point is to keep it safe or for access just in case later....ON A SEPARATE HD!!!! what would be the point if it was on the same HD and it crashed??

  • @Jpsweeney94

i know i mean he SECOND one it will be out of space and be useless in about a year.

  • why does he change his clothes every hour?

  • having the same computers is pretty boring

  • Has anyone seen this on the Gmod idiot box?

  • Comment removed

  • @kabobularproductions haha yep. have you seen it on episode 3 or 4 or 5(i cant remember)? it had one too!

  • lol, nearly a decade behind windows, congratulations mac!

  • CamStudios Grrr

  • Well, Windows does have System Recovery, which restores your PC to an earlier state.

  • the bad thing about this is that it will take up so much space if it makes a new one every hour.

  • ....Bumpercars!

  • thanks pc (sarcasm)

  • My Win7 comes with a backup feature too o-o, theres a slot in my computer for external drive.

  • haha they should do these commercial again

  • @angie299305 I would also like to see the other version ie. the "pc" push one...

  • @angie299305 I would also like to see the other version ie. the "pc" push one...

  • So where's the train?

  • Yeah, they need backup because they are to stupid to know what to delete and what to not.

  • @fullflavormenthol What might you be using that graphics card for? Certainly not gaming...

  • you could do the same thing with PC, something called an external hard drive,,,,,ALSO i upgraded my computer so now i call my mac, "My Ancient Computer" = P

  • You know in EVERY Tv show where there are clones, something bad happens... just saying...

  • So basically, it's the same as the recycling bin then?

  • First thing I thought of when I saw this commercial.

    Upgrades.

When you want an upgrade, you put a new part into your computer for a PC.

For a mac, you have to buy an entirely new one, and now you have 2 Macs.

  • @androidsucks

The life of them both depends on User experience.

  • @androidsucks Oh yeah, well. id exactly know how that words 100 percent but i think you can still retrieve data from that as well

  • @androidsucks

No, you just don't get it.

  • @androidsucks Well, im pretty sure this is with any computer that uses a disk drive, but when something is deleted, it doesnt leave your hard drive, it marks that particular area as an area where you can change the memory on it, so you can get a deleted thing back as long as that area wasnt reused.

  • macs are great

    pcs are great

    computers are great

    technology is great

    i love technology

    lets all hold hands

  • @boywithcamera7 lets not

  • @boywithcamera7 stop copying that on every apple video

  • @boywithcamera7 yeah right

  • Is Apple trying to tell me Justin Long is god and PC can't delete a file?

  • you can recover anything off a pc, therefore you dont need to copy hour on the hour.

  • I didn't know Macs changed clothes every hour.

  • with pc you can recover any deleted file without a gay program

  • Yeah thanks pc

  • Isnt that just taking up unneeded room on my hardrive???

  • Just like system restore, just more frequently?

  • Time Sheen

  • Um... So Mac finally added a System Restore function which has been in Windows since Windows XP? (possibly Win98)

I don't support Mac or Windows - Linux is far more stable and has become very user friendly in recent years (a user that is familiar with Mac or Windows can easily switch to a Linux distribution like Ubuntu)

  • @kepliko Oh sir. I understand your comment but as a Windows and MacOS technician, I am in a unique standpoint to tell you that System Restore bears as much resemblance to Time Machine as a brick does to the Sistine Chapel. Time Machine is backs up your personal data, which System Restore doesn't do, and it can restore your system in the event of a disaster, which System Restore doesn't do. The two do not bear the slightest resemblance, once you actually use them both.

  • But that means if you have much files and they duplicate every h it will slow down your mac verry much... dosent sounds so smart, it could only do one back up file and thats it instead of many.

  • @wezom Everybody does it on an external hard drive

  • @wezom It doesn't back up every file every hour. It's a delta driven backup suite, meaning it does a complete back up initially, then every hour, it backs up changes you've made since last backup. And yes, you'd need to do this on an external drive, otherwise it reduces the efficacy of the backup. If you lose your hard drive, a backup on that hard drive isn't doing you any good.

  • @wezom you did not research this at all before commenting did you.

  • MAC = My Asshole Crapped....

  • I love these commercials

  • PC can do that -_-

  • Mostly mac's ads. is just attacks on PC, even though PC has also that feature....

  • Not only can PC do that too, its been doing it since 1995. This commercial should have ended with PC opening a closet filled with thousands of PC backups saying "what took you so long?"

  • @turbowombat pc cant do anything like time machine, idiot...its not just a back up

  • @Jpsweeney94 I'm sorry if you thought I was referring to simple backup copies. The services I refer to are System Restore and Volume Shadow Copy. The first allows you to select any point in time and rewind your OS to that point. The latter can be set to run in the background of specific applications to perform the same function for those applications. It's like Time Machine, only better because you can choose to save space by omitting some applications. How is this not "anything like TM?"

  • @turbowombat

windows is the biggest fail of the entire world !!!

    Linux Ubuntu 2.6.38 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ZHAUSQ I must say I've never been in this situation. I reject your premise but agree with your conclusion. Linux is technically best in the same way that a person who likes socialism conceptually must admit that communism is better insofar as it's the same principle applied in a more perfect scenario. If one approves of Windows' minor stripping of the user interface in the name of more system control and awareness, then Linux is the logical conclusion of that.

  • @turbowombat Yeah but Apple makes it look all 3D and cool and has stars flying around. EXTREME backup yyeeaah

  • @turbowombat the point is that this feature comes with every mac and you don't really have to do it on your own and that it have a lot of positive sides. at windows you have to download or buy a external backup application... so i think this is the message

  • @FlowWaletzkow wtf? no you don't thats BS it's on the computer.

  • @turbowombat Macs have been doing this before that...

  • @BeeFittyTwooz Actually, no they haven't. PC WAS doing that in '95. PC always has had a Back-up future like that.

  • @younggunsfan PC is not a company

  • pc can do that too

  • Time 'sheen.

  • oh and btw, PC aren't doing those kind of ad because they can't say something is better on their product.. that sad!

  • Apple, Bite Me.

  • why does mac focus ALL of its attention on attacking pc? why cant they just promote their claims of a 'perfect' machine? if its so perfect why attack the company that according to apple is inferior and that cost half the price? thats about as dumb as Porsche advertising "our new 911 GT3 can beat the new hyundai genesis!'

  • in fact PC started all of this.. and btw they never rlt attack PC in any of their ads.. they simply subject things.. they simply compare both and as you can see, usually, MAC come out with th upper hand.. GO MAC!

  • @zolthar666

Hey man, want to play some 1337 gam3z or do some software engineering or 3D renders LOL

  • so what !?!?!?!

do you really need that thing ? when they say mac doesn't crash !

  • f i accidently delete a file i go to my recycle bin. And if my computer crashes I just restore it with a backup program i got before the crash. Time Machine isn't a new feature its just a System Restore

  • You mean shadow copy, also that's a pain in the and pretty useless in disk failures. RAID and fuck all else.

  • System Restore.

  • I LOVE this program! I just got my new apple three days ago, and started using this program on a backup drive right now.... And wow, you guys. If you hate apple computers so much, why are you even watching the ads? Besides, i really doubt such a over-simplification of "never being able to delete a virus" is in any way the truth. Have you seen reports of this, and seen it yourself? I don't mean to be mean, but get out of the 2-D thinking.

  • @malimillions

Actually PC's are getting 3-D... I'm just saying

  • @malimillions shut up !!!!!!!

long live windows 8 FUCK MAC !!!

  • so that means if you get a virus, that someone was bored enough to create, you could never get rid of it, so your computer will always be messed up. Oh wait, its a mac, so its always messed up. Well that settles that argument.

  • @supaphreak2045 Your brain is messed up.

Stop commenting on videos you hate.

  • @Habbloxian Didnt say I hate it. But it makes sense, you can never be rid of things, even if you want to get rid of them.

  • So if i had a Mac i could never ever ever ever get rid of a file, because it woudl save it, just incase it was an accident, oh wait isn't that was recycling bin is for on windows? Cept with less hassle, or the system restore? c'mon apple, do something useful! If you are stupid enough to delete something twice you shouldn't be put infront of an expensive piece of equipment.

  • i wonder how much hard drive space does this feature waste?

  • A lot : files aren't compressed, it's a simple copy +time tags. just don't include your movies in it or you'll buy new HD every monday xD

  • Comment removed

  • @chinh101 I was thinking the SAME EXACT THING.

  • @chinh101 You sir, do not understand the meaning of compression.

  • @chinh101 Its an amazing backup that you DO NOT save on your hard drive. if u do that its frigen useless dumass u save it on an external hard drive and if ur ever stupid enough to screw something up u can get it back almost instantly

  • @chinh101 its called an external hard drive

  • @thaweeklyCHANnel it's also called a waste of money...

  • @chinh101 it backups to ur network hard drive, aka time capsule

  • @chinh101 not that much since the backups are incremental, time machine is basically a GUI for rsync.

  • @chinh101 You use an external hard drive

  • gay. its a love train.

and: are there really ppl who pay ppl to get their virusez off?

  • jerrry your stupid after buying everythng you need for a pc and getting it fixed after you get a virus then its going to cost you more then a mac

  • Does anybody actualy pay people to remove viruses from their computers? There is automated software for that...

  • like kasperski! :D

  • they got cool pantz

  • Not only System Restore. Windows Vista and Seven have image backups. Here is my other gripe. When faced with such an economic crisis, what do you think people will buy? a $1,100 laptop? or a $600? I can get a laptop for $499 with the SAME stats as a high end mac. Don't go there with desktops. For $1,200 I could build a super computer.

  • wtf is wrong with people giving you thumbs down? I too bought a high end pc, quad core, 4gb 800mhz ram and all, 9800GTX+ and everything 1 and a half years ago, for only $690 AUS (which was approximately $500 - $525 US at the time)

I'm still using it right now, and I would have had to pay over $1000 to get a mac of the same caliber. Don't people know how much macs cost? To get one with a 9800GTX+ or similar card in it 1.5 years ago would be well over a grand, possibly still today even.

  • I was just on Windows 7 facebook page, and I was saying: Apple will most likely say, Windows 7 runs "faster" (in their opinion) on a Mac running bootcamp." I'll say, "Well, Windows 7 runs on a PC running Windows 7 the same as your Mac will for $2,000 less!". LMAO!

  • tooooo true. ;P

  • exaggerated

  • lol and who ripped off who now... Windows had "time machine" called system restore long before Leopard...

  • Since it's obvious you've never used a Mac, I'll simply say,

Those are two different things entirely, but Time Machine actually works.

  • sys restore works perfectly in Vista and Seven.... In XP it worked not so good but it still existed... ye they work lil differently but the core idea is behind Microsoft...

And i dont need to use Mac, its pointless system... Nothing there i cant do on Win or Linux... and PC's are cheaper

  • wouldnt it be taking up too much space considering u were backing up files every hour?

  • mac cost too much....

  • I guess you're unemployed?

  • Mac stands for "My Awesome Computer" in my eyes.

  • @0SukMunky0

Oh i love my Mac book but i wish i could get my hands on those towers of power the mac pro or evena mac book pro, ah but one can dream

  • @0SukMunky0

And Mac stands for "Hi, I spent an extra $500 for a logo" in mine.

  • @HHOJ Obviously you've never used a Mac before.

  • @0SukMunky0

I've used them enough to know they're inferior to PC for what I would need them to do, i.e. run virtual servers for labs, gaming, ect.

And to me, the inability to individually upgrade my hardware as I see fit is way too inhibitive. "Hey guys, let's pay extra for on-board hardware."

    Uh, how about no?

(BTW at least my reasons are realistic, and not because I have a fetish for over-priced designer technology)

  • @HHOJ Apple's on-board hardware is some of the most powerful stock hardware in the world for home computers! The new iMac can have up to 16 GB of RAM memory and you're saying THAT'S inferior to PCs? The types of processors that Macs come with can leave a PC running, Win. XP for example, in the dust. Also, explain to me why most people who do film editing (and most companies i.e. companies that do film restoration) use Mac Pros to process and render their projects?

  • @0SukMunky0

Because I said, word for word, that Apple hardware was inferior, right?

Actually, I stated that FOR WHAT I REQUIRE, a MAC would be inferior to a PC, both in costs and in flexibility. And don't get me going on the specs you're throwing around, 'i.e. 16 GIGZ OF RAM, PROCESSORS THAT LEAVE XP MACHINESZ IN TEH DUST!!!!'

I can build an identical, neh, a SUPERIOR, machine for the same price as an iMac, and if you're that hardcore I can even draw the little Apple symbol on with a Sharpie.

  • @HHOJ Hardware specs. are everything in the computer world. Disagree if you must, but my 4 year old Mac I have at my house STILL runs better than my PC running Windows 7 with 2GB of RAM memory, 320GB of disk space, and 1GB of video memory. The specs. of my Mac are: 1GB of system RAM, 512GB of video memory, and a 120GB hard drive. I have Adobe Photoshop CS4 on both machines, and the old Mac still outdoes my PC with adequate specs.

  • @0SukMunky0

"Hardware specs. are everything in the computer world."

Again, where did I say they weren't? You've taken every word of mine out of context. How typical. My focal point is that low-ball MACs are expensive in comparison to the $399 box PC's, which are still more than most computer users will ever need, and all for what, a little bit better processing power with Photoshop? Not worth the extra money, it just isn't, because that money could have just gone to upgrades.

  • @HHOJ Not just Photoshop but all forms of editing just seem to work better (and function in an easier-to-understand way) on a Mac, and I'm not saying that from biased, half-assed opinions, I'm saying that from personal experience. I have used film editing programs on Macs before and they outperform PCs in every way. And I'm not trying to say that you should go out and spend $2000 dollars for something with more features than you'll need. For most, a PC from Best Buy WOULD be enough...

  • @HHOJ ...for the average user.

  • @HHOJ If I may, apologize if our opinions got the better of us here.

  • @HHOJ Also, in mid 2009, I bought a Mac Mini from EBAY of all places, that's from 2005 and even IT destroyed my PC as far as stability and performance went.

  • @0SukMunky0

Now, it is true that MACs do have a certain niche for music production, video editing, ect., but the way you talk it up, it's as if every major production studio in the world uses MACs and nothing but, which in itself is a complete and utter lie.

They have their uses, and truth be told, for your stereotypical no-brainer who just uses the internet and Microsoft word, yeah, a Mac is optimal. Too bad for someone like that, it's well out of their price range.

  • @HHOJ I didn't say film companies use nothing BUT Macs. And it's not as if I think your opinion about Macs sucks or anything, even if it sounded like it. I was simply stating facts that say why some people use Macs. Also, I see Macs as more of a privilege to use than something you can just go out and buy for no apparent reason (unless you have the money to do so) and I would feel incredibly lucky if I received and iMac or something for my birthday or as a gift from a family member.

  • hrmmm...

restore points? been around for years? =P

  • pcs are better

  • agreed :)

  • Hell yeaah

  • more to offer..like what?

  • It doesn't matter, pc's with windows don't crash, and thats all that matters imo.

I think macs work beautifully, but they won't sell any better until they fix the problem for all even average mac users who don't know how to fix theses types of problems.

1 out of 10 times any demanding program will crash on a mac out of nowhere losing all of your work, after about the 3rd computer i've tried and had it happen countless times i've given up on mac's entirely.

    :/

  • norton invented this software before mac had a gui. before mac was running linux kernels. PC owns on this one. I really hope your mac doesn't copy everything on disk every hour. congratulations your disk is filled up and you cant undelete something more than a day old cause it only holds 20 backups! pc can undelete to, its called a recycle bin. I can undelete even after I empty recycle bin. PC WINS!

  • heh. You need a History lesson. The Apple computer had a GUI long before Windows or DOS for that matter existed. Apple has been around longer than Norton. -and- the backup feature is an improved version of System Restore. I use a PC. i don't own a Mac. I don't endorse Macs. They're waaay too expensive and proprietary. Just wanted to set the record straight.

  • Noo

  • APPLE GUI DID NOT COME BEFORE DOS. look up APPLE II thats what you were rockin when I was writing batch files. dont post if you dont have a clue.

  • How much disk space does this take up?

  • It uses a separate, external drive to back up to.

  • External or internal? I mean if it's external how is this any diffrent than any other flavor of backup shenanigans. Plus, Mac is all about simple, forcing the purchase and setup of an external drive seems like a lot for Mac's target demographic of people who don't have a lot of technical experience(discounting the hard core graphics design crowd).

  • PC HAS THAT FEATURE TOO!

    but i like macs

  • Finally someone who likes macs who's not biased.
