Also, every person charged (according to newspapers) has their Health Canada exemption. Members of compassion centers either have an ATP (federal exemption) from Health Canada or a doctor's prescription on file with the club.

where is the warrant, if you watch the first angle you see the first officer walk up to the door with what appears to be a medical card... there is never any warrant shown. They rush in... I'm not sure but it appears as though the man at the front doors that got thrown down onto his head was a security guard.... any right minded security guard would put up a fight against any potential intruders.... by not claiming to be police officers he had no idea to comply.. Police assume he is resisting.

@DackIsBack A right is basically just a promise from the government - we won't stop you from doing this. I mean really you have the right to do whatever you physically can do, unless someone stops you. Who gave the police the right to do this? I guess technically the people of Canada. Considering over half the country thinks smoking pot should be legal, and only 20-30% thinks it shouldn't be (the rest doesn't care) the police probably won't have this specific right for much longer.

Must be a crime-free day in Toronto to be harassing harmless SICK people and refusing their legal cannabis which they need for their health. Don't put up with this shit! If you live in Toronto go to the protest and bring your friends. Call the mayor, call your MP, call your MPP, call the Justice Minister, and express your outrage that this is even on the police radar. You just know the next time they do something like this they'll be destroying the security tapes so there's no evidence of their actions. Where is the warrant? Why are they not in uniform? Do they feel good about themselves for inflicting pain and suffering on the crippled and terminally ill? This is no where near the worst behaviour the TO cops are capable of, sad to say, I've known more people assaulted by TO cops than by everyone else combined and no they weren't criminals resisting arrest.

Why did the poor sick person at the door try to physically obstruct the police from legally entering the premise...perhaps so the people in the back of the shop could destroy evidence?? What were those silly officers thinking. They should have just turned away and went for coffee and doughnuts when they were told not to come into the premise. Shame on them! Next time someone roughs you up, steals your weed, or breaks into your house, go call the fire dept and see if they can help you!!

You are right. Cops are not supposed to serve tea and cookies. They are also not supposed to act like thugs or serve up whiplash, concussions, harassment or any other type of injustice to peaceful citizens. 51 division, vice or undercover... whatever, it doesn't matter. SHAME on the Toronto Police.
My bf and I were there shortly before the raid. We go weekly to get medical marijuana for his severe epilepsy. He needs it to help with nausea and to help his appetite due to really strong meds. It also helps right after seizures to keep him from throwing up so much.
This place is full of customers who are terminally ill, HIV/Aids, Cancer etc..
This bust is absolutely shameful.

Speaking of uneducated... Nothing CALM was doing was legal. Do some reading. That said, they've operated for 14 years without incident with full police knowledge. It was most definitely excessive force. They knew there were no weapons and that upon entering, anyone in there would co-operate. ANY force was excessive.

where is the warrant, if you watch the first angle you see the first officer walk up to the door with what appears to be a medical card... there is never any warrant shown. They rush in... I'm not sure but it appears as though the man at the front doors that got thrown down onto his head was a security guard.... any right minded security guard would put up a fight against any potential intruders.... by not claiming to be police officers he had no idea to comply.. Police assume he is resisting.
