I grew up not respecting OSU because of their hatred of OU. I went to OU. Now after reading responses of respect, I think I will pull for OSU. I don't know if they will beat Texas or OU, but I will pull for them. Except against OU.
Yeah, I'm a Poke fan, but I give OU the respect it deserves. When the Sooners whomped us in Norman 52-9, I didn't make excuses. We just got thumped. But the year before that when OSU dropped bombs to Rashaun Woods and won 38-28, I said the same thing. OU got thumped for failing to cover pretty much 1 guy.
the state of oklahoma represented the Big XII the best in bowl games last year. both teams put themselves in situations to win. its to bad that all the trick plays got oklahoma in the end. but the o state game was one of if not the best bowl game of the year
any time you beat bama in a bowl game feel very proud, bama has won more bowl games then any other college bar none, even though notre dame and michigan is 15 yrs older then bama.........roll tide
all of yall are saying that this is a great way to represent the big 12...but Alabama didnt have a coach...not to justify the fact that we really shouldnt have gone to a bowl game after the...crapy season we have.. but what tradition do the "pokes" have...really answer please
We really don't have a winning tradition if you look at the entire program history with most of our success coming in the 80's and some decent (relatively speaking) seasons since '97. Beating a "name school" like Alabama was really a big one for us.
I predict OSU will be in the title game this year, knocking off both Texas and Oklahoma. Missouri should win the north because Nebraska's scheduele is murder. The title game should be an offensive shootout!
the osu will never beat ou? your crazy...They'll play OU at their home in stillwater. IN my opinion, Zac Robinson is better than Sam Bradford... I know everyone's going to say that he led all the freshman in TD's last year(36) and might do it again this year. Although robinson last year was one of top 5 QBs in rushing. He holds five of the top 18 total yardage outputs in school history.I'm lookin' forward on the bedlam '08 hope 4 da best
I've been a Texas fan since 94' and I still live in Montgomery, Alabama but I was proud of the Tide this year. They had such a bad loss with Prothro and such a bad season but JP Wilson had such a good season, despite the record, and I am proud of him. He will lead Bama to a future title his next three years, I bet money on that anyday.
You're an OSU fan, i realize that. I live in the state of Oklahoma and remember this same discussion when Barry Sanders' '88 Heisman season was completed. OSU had two, NFL hall of fame running backs that were excellent and still slumped after Sanders and T. Thomas left school. OSU lost a recruit, (j. hannan, OL) to OU and he said it himself, "OU just has a better tradition of WINNING." To translate, facilities do not attract good players, wins do.
DUH, of course wins attract good players,I'm not arguing that. But I bet you don't have the slightest idea why OSU still "slumped" after Barry. Im not going to get into the details but it is fact that coaches would avoid showing recruits the weightroom because it was in such bad condition. Maybe that played a role in our "mediocrity". Check out today's Oklahoman (Jan. 29th) There is an article about OSU's recruiting class closing in on the top 25.
OSU will. Bama's dynasty is over. Oklahoma State's is just beginning. Speaking of demoralized OSU lost 4 games on the final play this year. Next year all playmakers return except D'Juan Woods. We are going to be a lot better then expected.
.500 ball is better than expected for OSU. The Pokes blew late leads, but not 4 on the 'final play' to clarify. Oklahoma State will always be a wrestling and baseball school, no doubt about it, but the football program will struggle. T. Boone Pickens won't change that, players do.
Please clarify which particular loses (other than Houston, and Texas) did the game not come down to the final play? The football program will not struggle. College sports thrive off of donations and thanks to Boone, we will soon have the best facilities in the nation. Want proof? Last year OSU picked up its' best recruiting class ever, after a 4-7 season. The bottom line is when you have good facilities and good support, players will come on their own.
I would say that a close game is different than a game"lost on the final play". The great Bedlam game in Stillwater this year is an example. OSU couldn't even keep the final pass in bounds to a well covered receiver, (D. Woods) for instance. It wasn't OU that stole the lead on the final play was it? I agree that Oklahoma State will be better off with updated facilities but i don't think they will climb out from underneath the shadow of mediocrity any time soon.
Well what you say is different then what analysts say. Why was "D. Woods" well covered? Because OSU was on the 25 yard line and about to score a touchdown and WIN the game. It doesn't have to be OU that steals the lead on the final play, it's the fact that OSU had a legitimate opportunity to win the game. You can think whatever you want, because you obviously don't know what your talking about. $300 million is about to prove you wrong.
