I was listening to The Suburbs in my Tech class the other day when I heard this for the first time. Suddenly all the talking was drained out, and this gave me huge chills. Arcade Fire makes me proud to be Canadian.
I feel like it's saying something about how LIFE is short, and they regret wasting the time that they had they were younger, as teenagers, doing teenager things like hanging with friends and laughing about silly things. They wish they could go back, but they know that if they did, they "only waste it again, and again, and again".
I'd just go ahead and glue this to the end or beginning of the song using a program like audacity, couple fades and you're good. Minus well :] works well with me.
I prefer putting it at the beginning although I think it belongs at the end, it's cool hearing one song fade out and the footsteps fading in.
you guys dont get it... its supposed to go on the end of the original track... listen to it immidetly after the dfirst track.. and it makes the original 858585875875X better
You guys want to hear something completely excellent? Go into iTunes, sort the album by the names of the songs, and play The Suburbs through to The Suburbs Continued with crossfade on 10 seconds. The held pitch washes into the violins perfectly. First time I heard it was an accident from keeping crossfade on while listening to Radiohead's 01 and 10... when I heard it I was like "wtf that's incredible."
this is a incredible piece of music.. so soft so subtle so deep so simple so amazing
i have so much emotions in this one minute and 28 seconds - I think about my childhood, my best friend who passed away, wasted times in front of videogames, that time where we used to steal the lightbulbs of bycicles in the neighborhood and i can say: yes i will waste every second again and again listening to this!
wow. every time i hear this i get such goosebumps, the melanchalic sense of regret is palpable, but just sooooo beautifully expressed by the music and lyrics. A totally accurate depiction of the suburbs
Finally listened to the album in its entirety (Hey, busy college student alright?) After only knowing some Arcade Fire songs here and there, a couple of things were clear after listening to "The Suburbs". One: I've been missing out. Two: Clearly, the best choice for Album of the Year. Three: When's the next one coming out?
i like how the whole albums is connected. like its not the same to just choose a few a songs, you gotta get thye whole thing. because you hear the others songs in others. ya know?
No, it's just pathetic how thumb whores wip out the name 'Bieber' to try to get people on the internet to like them. Justin is a disgrace to the music industry, if you can even call it that anymore. To mention his name on an Arcade Fire video is like pissing into my bowl of golden frosted flakes.
@SpartanM621 "Justin is a disgrace to the music industry" - That's pathetic for you, or anyone, to say that about any artist. Just because you don't like his style of music doesn't mean that you need to say shit like that.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Justin Beiber, but that does not mean he's a disgrace. He's just like every other person on the internet trying to get somewhere with cliché tunes, it's not exactly his fault that the 'music industry' had made him such a huge teen icon.
Very valid point, excuse me for being so brash. I just don't much care for him, and it's annoying to find that other bands just can't be as accepted as he is.
@SpartanM621 I appreciate your opinion and for not creating an uneeded YouTube debate. It's very refreshing to be honest. I understand and I completely agree with what you said..
my god my face melted when i heard this right after "Sprawl II" crescendos the album. it really does ease you of the high that is "The Suburbs" while still leave you yearning for more.
@ayology It is a long song, it has two parts..... the first part is "The suburbs" this is the "the suburbs continued" all together its a great song and a great album.
And yes I had my orgasm... only it hasn't finished. I'm still high on ecstasi. Amazing cd. I have only listened this Arcade Fire's cd whole, from neon bible and funeral I've only heard a few... some people have said this one isn't the same. They're right... it's something else. Impossible to compare. And yes, I also love the songs from the other ones but, different... just different.
