  • i love this. it really shows how we are.

  • And we still dont have a TOILET

We let the cows walking all over the places

  • hÎ_áÑÿöñÊ_wåNÑå_chÀt_wÌth_mê_ï_fêél_sÕ_lØnËlY_tôÐày~

  • lol. thats wuite true. (shakes head)

  • Why do we wipe our asses with our left hands?

  • @hogo1 cuz we eat with right hand ;)

  • I lived in India (I'm not Indian though) and I love the people there so much. This clip is very funny and true and to me it's also a reminder of how much I love Indians!!

  • Anyone know the title of the track being used in this promotion?

  • its really nice ...

    i m pround 2 be indian

  • its really oocam.....

    bt i m pround 2 be indian.....

  • its really oocam.....

  • I'm Proud to be an Indian

  • @sharatsharma42 me too :)

  • LOL! :)

  • i'm proud to be an indian!! :P

  • hmmmm....we are awesome....

  • nice commerical-but its only trying to sell something at the end of the day

  • Music in this video if ne1 knows .. . please . . .

  • We don't use toilet papers to allow some shit to leave behind . we use water :)

  • haha love the video, can´t wait to see Bangalore! grtz from Holland! see u in May/June

  • The videos just does the right thing tht needs to sell the product... bt it hs a risk of showing a wrong (or I shd say, not-so-good) image of India...

  • Some good points in the ADV...

    1. We store plastic to re-use it, and to cover things to protect from dust

    2. We have to have pressure cookers, well they save lot of energy

    And the bad points...

  • 1. We don't fight to save few CENTS but RUPEES bt now-days people don't, they spend unnecessarily in Pizza-Huts and Cafes

    2. We take cricket seriously, sad we don't give importance to other sports

    3. We take movies seriously and movie stars more seriously, what's wrong with us?

    4. We don't eat pasta (& add chilli-flakes to it) but we love spicy curry

    5. We eat DOSA but not with Fork-n-Knife, We eat everything using our hand

    6. We do, but not most of the times, say YES and NO in that dumb manner

  • All your points stand well for Indians in India, but not for NRIs. If you noticed, this ad is for a VoIP service for NRIs to call India. That is why we do:

    1. Save CENTS.

    2. Eat pasta and add HOT SAUCE (that's not chilli-flakes).

    3. Eat with forks and knives in Indian restaurants out here.

As for paying attention to other sports, we do watch them, but not with as much interest as cricket (maybe because we don't have matches out here?) And mostly, South Indians use that YES and NO :-)

  • Oh, and we take Bollywood movies seriously too. That's because when you are out of the country for so long, watching movies brings back memories and one gets emotional :-) It is a good ad because it only deals with the inherent parts of every Indian's personality. If you see it from an NRI's viewpoint, it basically shows our: 1. Sense of value for money 2. Generosity 3. Dedication 4. Sense of conservation 5. Sense of safety 6. Passion 7. Emotional attachments 8. Eternal Pursuit of "more" :-)
  • @spp202 dont freakn watch the video and go work as a substitute to toilet paper for some firangi

  • @spp202 Indians in this ad represents NRIs and not the resident Indians as this is a calling card ad..

people do eat pastas and pizzas there,

they do save cents and not rupees,

and some people from south India say yes and no by nodding their head in same fashion...

they also mention about pressure cookers which are rarely used in US and other foreign countries...

  • @cuterupali What difference does it make...Its for Indians and the way we are...& its beautifully portrayed in this clip :)

  • @spp202 But THAT's THE WAY WE ARE..... :)

  • Quite... true.

  • This is SO true ahahah ...

  • Superb ....We do the same ..I never noticed is before ...ha ha

  • I love the music! Thanks for posting.

  • well it was true about the yes and no thing ..

  • way to stereotype a billion people, "trueroots". because every single indian person is EXACTLY like this.

    /sarcasm

  • So true!!

  • its kinda cliched.. isnt it?

  • Do you know how satisfying it is to watch a movie with a man and cry with him at the same time? Also, stereotypes are based in fact and these idiosyncracies are funny, cute and damn true.

  • simply superb :)

  • ashamed of yourself. It a nice video

  • So u do agree, it's something to be ashamed of and not to be proud of.

  • lol brilliant!! Hum Aisa Hi Hain!

  • SHE KICK MY DOG

  • Dats a very cute video...n so true...To all the people on the comments list who r posting frustrated comments..guys, arnt u fed up of having a text fight below every video..its sucha cute video...please like it or hate it..ur choice but dont b an internet troller..

  • OMG,sorry for commenting if u dislike but its almost same as us pakistanis except the way to say Yes.Overall very cool video.

  • and for all the flag bearing patriots... chill out guys... watch it, laugh a little or lot and get on with it... i dont understand why we indians get so defensive...??

  • I cant figure out why so many people did not get the ad and then asking questions like wtf as if they r retards... it says clearly international calling service (1:19) from TATA comms and even if you didnt get it the first time... go check out the freaking website they show the url at the end dont they? and if you are watching this on youtube means you are connected to the internet arnt you?? seriously how retarded do you have to be to not get it...!!!

  • we are like that only! :)

  • "we are like that ONLY.!" Truly Indian! :)

  • That's the way we are..

    Brilliant!

  • Omgggg. I love this vid. ;D <3

    Super super good. :]

  • its a funny ad made in good humor...

n FYI all those who cant understand it...it says cents coz it s showing d indians who r livin abroad...otherwise whr do u see smoke alarms in Indian homes??....it s tryin 2 say dat indians inspite of stayin abroad still hav d same indian mentality which is well... not so untrue...i see no reason of gettin all icky bout it...if u r an indian..b proud of it wid all d gud n d bad aspects

  • fantastic!

  • Cents?? WTF!!

  • this is a brilliant comercial. this has got the crux of the indian mentality. we love to say yes and no in the same breath. Brilliant. Cheers to the team that made this commercial

  • so so true...i love it...!!!

thats the way i say no and yes and i am proud of it...

  • Hmm...i'd rather appreciate the good thngs in it than frown upon for few silly thngs lik cents for rupees, yes i do agree its silly...and the rest is so us(Indians) call it cliche or stereotype..we cant deny it..and those who arent Indians just don belong here...

  • just stop your knit picking mate....if u think just "cheap loser indians" do those things u need to get out a bit more, also maybe u shld get off ur perch and see what COMMON ppl do...

just a few spoilt privilidged ppl like urself dont define the whole country either....

and who are to call others retards??...the saying is soooo true in that case.."takes one to know one" mate...think before u speak....

  • People who are not from India, shut up and just watch it !

  • That's the way we are and will remain VERY VERY VERY proud of it.

  • i found myself automatically bobbling my head while watching it. haha

  • Comment removed

  • i dont agree with robing head to say yes but not all

  • The bobble head way of saying yes is common in Andhra and Tamilnadu(I have friends), in other parts people nod.The gesture for 'No' is probably very similar all over the world. But the last "yes" "no" made it really funny. Other are refreshingly repeated cliches.

  • any idea about the music track. i just love it. so good to hear.

  • nice and funny ad!!!

  • I am an Indian and I do not agree with the nodding head NO. We do not do like that.

YES - is correct but NO is we rotate our head considering the neck as the center point.

"Thats the way we are "-sounds like defensive. We don't need to defend ourselves !

  • haha that was funny

  • fantastic ad...

  • lol

  • good one

  • cool ad...... no doubt....

  • The best ad ever ever ever. I use true roots as well

  • Comment removed

  • its not racist. Its the ad from india. This means that people from india made it meaning that there laughing at themselves. -_-

  • Yeah I know. Its just an expression.

Guys! Whoever that gave me those thumbs down needs to understand that.

  • @ChaoticDK this also shows we are tolerant and how to take everything in our stride in a good and sporting manner:)

  • @ChaoticDK I find it funny that the people that take offence to such videos are actually taking offence for somebody who's not offended. Like you said, it's not racism, it's self mockery/awareness.

  • @ChaoticDK ........ WRONG... they are not laughing at themselves. we are celebrating who we are..... we accept who we are.... other nationalities mite make fun of us cause we r different..... BUT we celebrate everything there is to us and our nation...... :)

    We are beautiful :D

  • really like the ad.

  • really good insight...and nicely executed too.

  • sweet ad

  • wonderful ad.. it makes me feel proud.. of nodding my head the same way for yes n no

  • I just love this commercial! But I like the shorter version better. Not the one that is posted on this account--another one that I can't seem to find on YouTube.

  • cntd: it's trying to inspire them to catch hold of their roots, and call back home,be more in touch with their country. in layman's terms- this is an ad for trueroots india calling service provided by tata featuring extremely competetive internet telephony rates for indians living in US(more then a million), uk(even more then US), canada (a little less then US i guess)...it also includes calling pakistan, sri lanka and bangladesh from these countries.I hope i answered you.

  • About the purpose of this ad....ummm...i guess it's just trying to depict a few things we indians strongly identify to or are embedded in our culture and how we are identified outside india. Like germans are known to love fast cars, rules and punctuality, japanese are known for will power and detail, brazillians for football and pinacoladas...same way maybe we are known by these things by rest of the world( form personal experience,we are to an extent).i think it's aimed at indians living offshore.

  • aaah...i agree with mansimodi07 on that point...even here in france people tell me all the time that i shake my head a lot,it was wierd for them when i chose to pay for everyone on my birthday and they freak out when i put pepper in my doner kebab...every indian i know has brought a pressure cooker with her or him...ha ha ha...and i never realized all these things back home because maybe it comes naturally to us.

  • tab3110..yes u make more sense than mansimodi07...

but still... what was this AD trying to convey actually ???....

  • The point is people connect to human behavior. sometime we dont realise a lot of the stuff we do. And its not always a bad thing. Take the yes/no for example. 95% of Indians do it and when I was in India I didn't realise I was doing it because people understood me. Now most of my friend keep saying are u saying yes or are you saying no. And for me its strange because in India people understand that based on the intention so I think people here wud understand me as well.

  • namita9012021..i think that's the point of advertisments, they try to connect with as many people as they can even if they are stereotyping people and leaving out a few. That is marketing..and i completely agree that maybe everything is not true for everybody. There are a few things in this ad which i can relate to,and few things that i can't,but i am sure there are many people who can relate to the things i find stupid.

  • most advertisements are a generalisation of what is seen and observed...which may not be the right thing to do. Not everybody adds so much spice to their food, not everybody enjoys those stupid bollywood movies and not everyone says yes and no in the same fashion either! the AD fails to convey the message...what exactly are they trying to say?!!!?

  • The TATA sky commercial with Aamir Khan has just 50,000 hits on Youtube while this one for TATA Trueroots has 100,000

Does that anser your question?? Aamir Khan couldn't do the same thing that this commercial did.

  • nope...that still doesn't answer the question...

  • And when I watch an ad like this it makes me laugh and feel closer to what is a very Indian thing and not necessarily bad.

  • yes.. I understand what ur saying... what I meant was that I think I may be missing the point. Was this Ad made specifically for some cause or something ? like u know the kinds made for AIDS awareness n all ? it seems like one've those at first glance..but I dont know if it is.I've not seen TV in the last one n half year so I dunno abt commercials n all ya...

  • This is a Brand advertisement for TATA Trueroots. WIth this ad TATA is connecting to being Indian at the core. Its not a social message. (there are tons of those anyway) Just a TV ad that is quite popular

  • I totally agree with you... if it's just for selling the product then it hs done a gud job bt nothing else... it's simply saying we do it bcz it's the way we are? in tht case, every why cn be answered as "thts the way it is" which is bullsh*t...

  • HAHAH

the last one always makes me laugh when i see it on tv.

    XP

  • Vinay sir.... We miss the Linked list classes...

specially the yes and no part.

  • All in all a very stupid AD

  • funny..!!! :D

  • i liked it dude we say "yes" like this and "no" like this

  • Rubbish !!!

  • lol. thats hilarious, but the funny thig is......sadly, that is so true!

  • I wouldn't call it sad!

  • yea. ur rite. i realized i put that there rite after i posted it. im sorry. i really didnt mean to say that. its not sad. but it is so true, so its just funny, im sry, thats all. nothing insulting intended. sry!

  • loved the advertisement. love the way we say "yes" and "no"

  • 1:06-1:02 is hilarious.. haha..

  • lol my writing my advertisement analysis paper on this commercial

  • shit i mean i am writing my advertisement analysis paper on this commercial haha

  • wow really?

  • the yes no guy is in the Boybama music video. hes so cute!!

  • so effin funny & true

  • I'm not Indian, but I love this spot and chicken tikka masala.

  • What an interesting way of tying the brand to real behavior. I think Trueroots is a very appropriate name and the commercial is entertaining to watch by itself. It draws you in because everything that it shows is accurate and insightful.

Great job! Can't wait to tell my friends about it!

  • bull crap, I've never offered to pay for big bills ever in my life. Nor have I ever wobbled my head to say no.

I do the rest quite consistently however.

  • this is so true!!

    hah i love it!

  • SO TRUE.

    i love being indian =)

    rofl.

  • loll it's so truee.

  • just watched this on b4u. who is the yes/no guy??? hes cute. looks familiar

  • ingenious

  • brilliant video! Soo true and i love it!

  • athakur47, I have sometimes found myself saying no like that.

  • Even as a Gujarati Indian born in Karachi, Pakistan, I can connect to it. I think any one who has Indian blood in them will love it.

  • This is a great ad. I think every Indian can connect to it in one way or another!

    Great work!

  • yes, everything in this video is true and I like myself even more coz I do it!!!!

Kudos to me being an Indian.....Love myself!!!

We are so complicated yet a lot impressive, amazing, loving, sweet, affectionate, (and all the good adjectives in the book)....

    Thanks India!!!

    Jai Hind!!

  • This is way to true... i am not indian but i agree every inch of what si videos message.... amazing.. very deeply researched.. and most of all few person i know are in this video..

  • o my god everything is this video is soo true!

  • Well Directed. It rings true.

  • I love the video. The yes or no part is fantastic. I now laugh at myself looking at this. because I'm often told by my co-workers that they cant make out whether im saying yes or no everytime they ask me a question and i still use my head to respond even though i can simply say yes or no. and i get asked again did u mean yes or did u mean no. hahaha.

  • i understand the yes.. but which indians say no like that? the axis of rotation is different!

  • LOL exactly

  • I know... that was a bit confusing

  • Very well shoot advertise. Everyone has done a good job.

  • This is a very nice video. It is so true about the yes and no. I still do it and all my friends in Canada keep wondering if I'm saying yes or no... (embarrased) The guy in this video doing the yes no thing does such a good job and hes so cute. I wanna hug him. The restaurant scene is true as well.

  • so true
