  • whos that at 1.20?? she looks like doesnt know where she is or whats going on... or anything else for that matter

    eddie's awesome

  • Is the "applause" response at the beginning a reference to an earlier part of the show? because otherwise it's a little arrogant...

  • Eddie is so fantastic.

  • i luv it wen he was like i'll come bac later

  • i think this is one of eddies best preformances. its funny and quirky, then he really drives the point home at then end.

i wonder if he asked to present this, he seems genuinley passionate about the issue of national healthcare.

  • Eddie Izzard rocks my socks!

  • Eddie is so courageous.

  • Based on what?

  • Okay, saw the ending now. You're right.

  • lol the girl from juno had no idea what he was sayin lol

  • I noticed that lol

  • eddie izzard is hilarious!

  • I love how he's rubbing elbows with Brad and Clooney now and how he was in the Oceans movies, like all the movies he always talks about in his shows :)

  • Ellen Page just look completely lost on the joke...priceless;)

  • haha... she does :D

  • I don't get it either- could you please explain, BritainVthatsme?

  • Ellen! How nice of you to comment on facebook!

  • ??? wouldn't kill you to explain it...and i think you meant 'youtube'.

  • WOW I just watched it again and I'm not sure how I couldn't have gotten it the first time. thanks for not finding me and shooting me. *feels stupid* g'day.

  • That's okay, I don't even know what website I'm on...) G'DAY!

  • Clooney gave him a standing ovation. Hell yea.

  • CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATION!!

I pray "SiCKO" will make a difference in how our Healthcare system is run.

    Break A Leg!!! ;-{)

  • Eddie is so Fantabulous.

  • Eddie is so fantastic.

  • If America is the richest country in the world, surely it can afford to offer free health care like some poorer countries?

  • Canada has free healthcare, yet hundreds leave Canada everyday to go to the United States and have MRI, Mammagram, CAT scans, surgery, etc. The reason? The queue for these services is sometimes too long for those in need of immediate results. Also, the machines currently in use in Canada are older and less efficient. I have 2 friends that came to the U.S. for surgery, because the wait was too long in Canada.

  • We DO have a healthcare system for the poor and aged. It's called Medicare and it's run by the governement. It's also constantly under fire for fraud and patient mismanagement. It's been this way for years. Is it any wonder that Americans, with private or work provided insurance, don't want the government to be in complete control of our health??

  • We DO have free healthcare for our poor and aged. It's called Medicare. it's government run and people complain about it all the time. If people are complaining about it now, imagine what will happen when it becomes mandatory. *shudder*

  • You go Eddie!Youre brilliant!

    N good job, Michael!

In Portugal our healthcare system sux, people die waiting for surgery n r only called years after they applied for it or even after they died, really sad.

If those morons in government didnt make so much money, the tax payers money would prolly b enough to cover the costs of a good education n healthcare system.

    But thats just my opinion.

    Peace!

  • Not got car chases so poo! LOL

  • hey, he left out finland!

  • BTW - I love Eddie Izzard. His early stuff is wonderful and he stays true to himself. It interesting to go back to the earlier shows and watch how he (and his wardrobe/make-up) have evolved. LOL

  • People need to realize that complacency has a price. Venezuela DOES have a national healthcare system and they have a dictator. If you speak out against him, you're fired, blacklisted and threatened.

THAT is the price of being "kept".

  • Good god, what does one have to do with the other? That's like saying we have a democracy, but if your healthy and strong you might be lucky enough to be sent to a foriegn country to shoot people and to be shot at. And why is providing a health care system for all being complacent? So, don't be kept (in good health) and what the fuck changes?

  • You really don't know polictics or history do you? Dictatorships gain power by using force. They bribe the people and play upon their fears. In Venezuela, Chavez uses oil money to "better" his people, but removes their freedom to of speech, etc. and thereby insures his stay of power. Good grief, read a history book!!!

  • You REALLY need to learn history. Try a book.

  • bitofallright - Dictators have repeated abused their people throughout history. Fidel Castro, King Mswati III, Omar al-Bashir, Robert Mugabe (and many more) are all currently in power and detroying their people's way of life.

Eddie mentioned Cuba's free healthcare, but he failed to mention that people risk their lives daily to leave Cuba and come to America. Hmmmm.....

  • fuck...I open up my email and it says you have responded to a comment of mine. and I come and see this...again I have to ask what does one have to do with the other? I can spout off many randon bits of information on alot of differnt subjects (typo's everywhere) but WHAT THE FUCK does your ramdon bits of infor have to do with the subject? nada

  • bitofallright - My facts are straight. The quality of healthcare will go down if it's government controlled. Look at the survival rate of breat cancer patients in England, Canada and Germany, versus the U.S. Once a system is put in place, it's there forever. Welfare was supposed to have been a temporary system to care for the poor. Here we are 7o years later, still paying for it.

  • dont know why i never heard anyone say that b4 thats dead on .

  • The provision of free healthcare for the poor is the only thing that matters. It is the crux of the argument. In all countries where national healthcare is available, private healthcare is also available for those that wish to choose it. Slight statistical superiority in CERTAIN areas is just benign truism, which doesn't undermine the argument whatsoever.

  • "People leave Canada to get tested & treated in USA."

For what? I'd say for something that's not covered for by pub. healthcare, or to get ahead in line. But that still does not matter one bit if you're poor, not granted health insurance and then go break your thumb in a skatebard accident or whatever.

"Germans purchase private insurance to avoid the long waits."

Yep. That's the benefit of a two-tier system. BUT THEY STILL GET BASIC HEALTH CARE no matter their economic situation.

  • American health care - just as good as their public schools. English isn't even my mother tongue but I can still spell medicine... with one C.

  • In America you get what you pay for, but in public health-care you get what the gouverments bothers to give you, and you have to wait in line... Yes you are secured healthcare, but you're not secured the quality of the healthcare.

  • Your talking like someone said that if ther was a plan in place to take care of people medical needs that we are asking for a "Perfect World" a virtual paradise where all of the checks and balaces are in place. This was a comment on the health care system, not ramblings of every discription.

  • So...you're saying you'd rather take the first thing thrown to us by politicians that "could really care less because the rules won't apply to them anyway", then do it right the first time?

You'd accept a mediocre system to good system...for healthcare?

That's like saying you'll take the first mediocre doctor, instead of waiting for a good doctor, to operate on you.

  • Like I said I worked for Blue Cross, Health Net, and United Concordia before becoming a broker selling health insurance, to individuals and companies large an small. I know what I'm talking about. And I have read few (hundred) books in my day and have a patent issued to me and two patents pending, a dumb ass I am not. Poor peoples medical needs in this country are taken care of by defalt, costing 10 more then if there was a system in place. Back your shit up.

  • bitofallright - Look at the healthcare plan that's being proposed. Private insurance would be OBLITERATED. Doctors would be told what they can charge. Complete government control. The more control a government is given over it's people, the less control people have. Read a history book or better yet, look at other countries. If we're so gosh darn horrible, why are so many people flocking here?

  • last comment to you, it seems like you think if this country adopts a socialized medical system that it has to be a dictator madate. Of course not. There will stil be private practice, why shouldn't there be? People would be able to get health care simply by being people with needs. That way important health care services, ER rooms and the rest won't be bankrupt while taking on the masses w/o insurance.

  • Private practice. Interesting use of words, considering that that's exactly what it will be. Doctors/hospitals/clinics will not be able to set their prices. The government will be doing it for them. When people are given "carte balnc", they swamp the ER's with headaches and demand CAT scans. They demand Xrays for children with slight coughs.

  • You've seen the money end of healthcare. My neighbor is an ER nurse and tells me the horros stories of Medicare. No ID's are required whith Medicare cards. (Unlike Blue Cross, Etc.) So the card is passed from person to person and absurd requests are made. The hospitals have to give the tests or face a possible lawsuit.

  • bitofallright - I'll ask one more time.

If America is so bad, why are people fleeing other countries to come here? Cuban refugees risk their lives and the lives of their children to cross opean seas in tiny boats to come here. WHY?

You don't know what it's like to not have freedom. In some countries your use of foul language would result in fines, lashes of the whip or incarceration. If you're female, you'd be executed or stoned to death in some countries.

  • Damn, just got in from a lovely lunch w/a great friend and here you are in my private email address. I never said US is so bad dumb ass...and your just going off on a rant again. I love my country.., I am well aware of human rights violations in other countries as I am envoled in trying to make a difference. You friends comment above is EXACTLY why there needs to be a well thought out plan in place.THE CURRENT ONE IS NOT WORKING!

  • "Well thought out plan" Exactly!! Not the first one thrown our way. The current plan is NOT a good one. Instead of ranting here, call your congressperson, senator, govenor and demand excellence.

  • When I said well thought out plan that is exactly what I meant. You seem to think that we would have to copy a plan of some dictators, why? Just read an article that listed the 6 most healthy countries, you can google it. and all had goverment health plans in place, well thought out and working.

  • Stay the hell out of my inbox, we are at an impasse...it's like your coming to my door trying to sell me your version of religion, any one of them, cuz I'm not buying. And then you would tell me, because I'm not seeing the light, I'm doomed to hell. Piss off...I would like to talk to Michael Moore or Eddie Izzard about this...you are boring the hell out of me.

  • #1 I don't have your private e-mail. I'm just "replying" to your posts.

#2 Before you talk to Eddie, read a history book.

#3 Tell Mike he's making money from other people's suffering and death. Now THERE'S an "Inconvenient Truth"!

  • ..just like everyone else in america? makin money while others suffer, like Bush?

  • This post is absolute bullshit..I don't think people will use an ER for recreation...why the fuck would they..you can go to an ER now and they have to see you and treat you. what the difference, except the ER is in jeapordy of financial lossess that become devastating.

  • You know insurance. I know hospitals. People think everything can be cured with pills. I've seen parents bring their kid with a mosquito bite in for Wesnile tesing. No syptoms, they just demended a blood test. Oh, but when they found out it required a spinal fluid draw, then they backed down. People WILL abuse a system, when it's free. They figure, "What the heck!" Look at Welfare, foodstamps, & Medicare. ALL abused and corrupt systems.

  • Yes, I do know Insurance, and hospitals and the rest. I am highly sensitive to the plight of the underdog, to people and animals suffering and because I know of the BUULSHIT that goes on with the status quo, I do have opinions on it. How's this for one. I think we should legalize marijuania, it's CA's #1 crop I have heard...tax it like we do cig's and booze and use the millions to support a Healthcare system...I think I might have pushed the envelope...A?

  • I meant BULLSHIT...in the above post, I really should take the time to grab my reading glasses when typing, still bugs me that I need them I think...but the legalizing pot and using the taxes, I meant that, won't happen, just cuz it makes sense...but it is a well thought out plan, yeah? No more comments from me...peace out!

  • And like I said typo's everywhere, so please no comments on "can't even spell" Half the time don't have my reading glasses on hand and typo's are a constant w/me... rock on with your bad self!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Government healthcare "sounds" good but read the fine print. Hillary's plan prevents citizens from being able to purchase private insurance. You will see our healthcare quality plummet. Our politicians will make sure THEY don't have to abide by these rules. Watch. They'll have their own separate system or private hospitals. It's time we stopped handing our lives over to the government and started taking care of ourselves.

  • your ig'nant...which is different than ignorant (lacking in knowledge)

  • You're entitled to your opinion, but the facts remain the same. Try reading the plan, THEN you can discuss it in an intellectual manner instead of an emtional one. Till then.......

  • "He's interesting with the makeup, too. I kinda miss it." a quote from Mkate37, forgive me for giving a point of view here Ashley, oh, I mean MerryKate..I truly think it's the least interesting thing about him. it's fine, it's a choice and I think it's great that he's living his truth, but shit, he is a rare, true individual, all the rest of the outside package is just a plus.

  • I was responding to someone else's comment that he looks good without the makeup. I like Eddie for who he is, makeup and all, and I get tired by so many commentors who can't seem to get past his transvestitism. There's so much more to him than his exterior.

  • I was just making a comment and using your quote...and all I was saying is that I think it's great that he is what he is, all of it, it could not have been easy for him, but that is one thing that makes him so fasinating, he seemed to make a decision and people just had to deal with it, no apologies, no humble (i hope it's allright attitude), I admire him for it and it seems just about everything he stands for.

  • And was also wondering why your point of view is not considered "Propaganda". When a system for taking care of peoples medical needs aren't in place, the effect is terrible, and people die and we all pay for it in the end anyway, so why not have a well thought out plan in place. Can you offer a thought? actually I don't care...I'm done with this shit.

  • mkate371/2 got home, email said you had responded to a comment of mine...you misunderstood, the apology was for caling you a dumbfuck, not for stating my views on the subject, I worked for 3 major health insurance Co.s and was a broker selling it...I know this shit and understand the pain.

  • bitofallright, merrykate37 not only has blinders on, she is wearing braces on her brain. merrykate37's just another "Internet Troll" looking for a fight. Do not fall for it.

  • He's interesting with the makeup, too. I kinda miss it.

  • Oh he's so cute without the makeup.

  • think about it america

  • Eddie Izzard is the dog'd bollocks, dont diss!

  • thanks for posting

  • haha well good

  • He missed Bahrain.

  • at 1:19, she has NO IDEA what's going on

    Izzard FTW!

  • Indeed, she doesn't seem like the brightest light in there...

  • Hahaha! ''Wh...why are..all these peaple laughing? W..uuuuuuuh''

  • "where are the cartoons??"

  • ''This..this man speaking..I..I dont understand..w..''

  • "...but people don't write for shows...they speak and are recorded...right??""

  • ''...RIGHT???!''

  • No, she doesn't - but I'm afraid I'm in a similar category because ... who IS she?

  • The smartest, funniest bit of the whole award show!! Eddie Izzard is FABULOUS!

  • Sicko is Moore's best work. A MUST SEE for all Americans. Don't worry all you Moore haters - nobody will take away your ignorance if you don't want them too. You can take it.

  • Eddie Izzard is genius.

  • Congratulations Michael Moore, the conscience of America.

Now, it's time for another Academy Award.

  • Fuck you. Fuck your bitchy comments that are stupid and lame.

  • mediacritic, don't be upset by a 17-year-old "Internet Troll."

Even the Republicans loved SiCKO. ;-{)

  • Actually, Republicans prefer documentaries based in fact. Sicko, like Moore's other films, is a propaganda piece without a lot of factual support.

  • merrykate37, you are the one who is full of it.

You make a statement and don't back it up with factual evidence.

merrykate37, lmao, documents based in fact. Such as WMDs? Hahahhahahahahahaha

  • What do WMDs have to do with the fact that socialized medical systems routinely mismanage health care for the poor while sinking the economy of the country? Or that fact that Michael Moore gave glowing reviews to a dictator who's been responsible for the ongoing murder of homosexuals?

  • Eloquent, beautiful, utterly hilarious Izzard,

you Yanks don't knw the half of him

  • nicwan86, which half? ;-{)

  • im from england and was wondering what happens if someone has an accident and has no identification on them

  • you mean in the states? if your in a car accident you better have idntification because its illegal to drive without your driverse licence. i don't think they will bust you for no ID but they will get you for not having your license...just i ticket i believe for that...never actually had that happen to me. so i could be wrong

  • u hav to carry id with you everywhere?. what about the hospitals will they just not treat u with no id.

  • babywee - Hospitals WILL treat you with no ID. It's illegal to refuse medical treatment to ANYONE. You could be arrested for not having identification by the police, but that's another issue.

  • Is it illegal to be a passenger with out a licens to? Passengers get hurt in accedents to. At least so Ive heard. :P

  • i thought u ppl lived in the land of the free, wipe the shit from ure eyes

  • anyone know where i cn get a torrent to download this show ?

  • have you tried mininova

  • yeah i have,nd tried pirate bay as well , any other sites ??

  • tuigim...have you forgotten about the sorveign nation of "Nippletwistyland" and Scatteredlossersinoneplace country.

  • Poland,Portugal,Qatar,Romania,Russia,Saudi Arabia,Serbia,Slovakia,Slovenia,South Africa,

    South Korea,Spain,Sri Lanka,Sweden,Switzerland

    Taiwan, Uruguay

  • I'm actually the "dumb fuck" here, typos everywhere in previous posts ...typical of me, my brains skips along ahead and grammer and spelling suffer. Just had to comment on the "Rich get better care" comment, yes money it seems is the god to whom all bow, when that changes, tilt you head up, can you hear the new world?

  • Denmark,Estonia,France,Germany,Hungary,Iceland,

    India,Italy,Japan,Kuwait,Lichtenstein,Luxembourg

    Malta,Malaysia,The Netherlands,New Zealand, Norway

  • Argentina,Australia,Bosnia,Brazil,Britain,Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada,Chile,China, Costa Rica, Croatia,Cuba,The Czech Republic

  • I feel bad for calling you a "dumb fuck" mkate37, I am a staunch believer of an individuals right to an opionion, and that was yours. And "dumb fuck" to me is as benign as saying "silly fuck face" ya know, just a salutation.

  • Yeah, laugh it off. You might as well piss on me and then apologize for making a faux pas. If you don't like my opinion, make a contrary statement and BACK IT UP WITH FACTS, not insults. If you're capable.

  • merrykate37, back up your own BS with facts.

  • I have. You're the one tossing around words like BS instead of stating why you think my ideas are wrong. If you disagree, state some facts.

  • Mkate37, you are a dumb fuck. Socialized medicine is payed for by taxes but at least there is a system in place. Have you ever been sick and not been able seek medical care? Propaganda is a word that can be used to decribe a point of view, marketing, and of course campaning. Getting the problems out there is the first step. Mr. Izzard knows what the fuck he's talking about. Plus just look how god damn sexy he is.

  • Socialized medicine is "paid" for by taxes - very, very high ones. Why should I give up half my income to cover some politician's wet dream? While I agree we need some changes, there is a good system in place in the U.S. We don't need to screw it up by handing it to the government.

  • merrykate37, do not worry; no one will ever accuse you of being a humanitarian.

  • The fact that I don't want to hand health care over to the government doesn't make me cruel or uncaring. To the contrary, I'd rather we improved our privately run system so that poor people could afford good health care. Socializing medicine won't do that. Instead, the poor will have to settle for whatever the government deems they need while they rich can get what they can pay for. That's total inequity.

  • merrykate37 is right. Our current healthcare DOES provide for the poor. It's the middle class that's getting the shaft. We have the highest rate of cancer survival of any country, because our people don't have to wait in line for treatment. England has a lower rate of breast cancer survival; due to it's over burdened system. In Germany, many buy private healthcare, though it's supplied by the government because they don't want to be killed by its inadequacy.

  • Eddie Izzard should host this year's Emmy Awards or the Tony Awards. Just give him a chance to host an awards show. Loved his bit about the writer's strike and his list of countries with socialized medicine. Leave it to an Emmy Award winning transvestite comedian to hammer the point home.

Great job Eddie and congratulations to my body double, Michael Moore. "Sicko" was fantastic.

  • Eddie is still as awesome as ever!

  • I heart eddie Izzard!!!

  • Aw, Eddie ! You're the best !

  • Love it

  • The insurance corporations' days of sucking our blood are numbered. One way or another, we want single-payer universal health care NOW! Good on you, Mr. Michael Moore! You are a genuine American Hero!

  • This film should be mandatory for all Americans!

  • Amazing job Michael Moore. Sicko is an amazing film.

  • Micheal Moore: American hero.

  • Congrats!

  • What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck... Bastard remembers sweden but fucking forgets Finland =|

  • YOU BEAT OUT KING OF KONG.

King of Kong was SO AWFUL. It reminds me why I hate classic gamers.

  • Congrats, Mr. Moore.

  • Nice little dig for the WGA in there!

  • RideOnHardOn, I looked at your YT Channel.

I do not understand "Internet Trolls." Whatever the reason you "Spread your sunshine" on so many people is beyond comprehension.

Try to have a happy life and not share your present miserable status with others. It's not the road to wellness.

  • But I thought Hannity, O'reilly, and Limbaugh all thought Michael Moore was some insane leftist traitor?

  • Congrats Mike!!

  • Print that list!

  • Good look from an English man!

  • Congrats on your award, Michael.

  • :-)

  • I'm not a great fan of Michael More but I have to admit Sicko is a great documentary and I can't for the life of me understand why Americans will not accept social healthcare as a good thing....not a perfect thing but a better thing than what they have.

  • "not a perfect thing but a better thing than what they have."

Exactly...not perfect (what is really) but far better than the current system.

  • Isn't health insurance 'social' really, by nature? I mean, you're pooling your money with a ton of other folks in the event you need healthcare so that you don't have to foot the enitre bill yourself. The only difference with single-payer-not-for-profit health insurance is that there is no middle man (the ins cos) and there is no profit. Thus you can eliminate about 30% of the overhead and thus REDUCE cost while giving EVERYONE BETTER coverage!

  • Redshift21, you do not have to be a great fan of Michael Moore. The superlative is not required but just saying, "Great documentary," makes me believe you truly are a great fan and not just a fan.

  • Good job Mike! Keep up the good fight!
