  • Hey do you know why a camera won't turn on after reassembly? Are there fuses to look out for? I took apart my sony dsc-100w and it won't turn on anymore. Appreciate any advice

  • @Laughin9M4N Those ribbon cables are pretty fragile... Check them and their connections. I know there are fuses but I'm not sure what they look like or where to find them.

  • thnx..is it posssible touching the internal lens?.. i think i have the same problem as yours.. but the issue of may cam is not a cat hair but a fungus... when i focus the lens there are sort of dark spots.. is there any agent i can use to remove it?

another one is that im using a canon powershot SD790 IS.. do you think they have the same way of dismantling? thnx thnx

  • @jayishi That camera is pretty similar to mine so I would assume the disassembly process is similar if not identical.. As for touching and cleaning the internal lenses, I'm really not sure what should or shouldn't be done.... I just used tweezers to pull the hair, no cleaners or anything like that. I would think that a good glass cleaning towel could be used, like the ones made for cleaning eye-glasses... Wouldn't chance any chemicals in my camera tho.

  • How did you take the body off? i really need it.. :( the lens wont open

  • @ThePersonudunno There are six screws on the side edges, then the front and rear should come straight off. If not, then pull the rear cover upwards from the bottom, and you should be able to get it apart from that point.

  • @AK49BWL thanks.. but it really dosent work.. :( Thanks anyways

  • i was going to watch another video from u but i just saw like a million cats XD

  • @zerkon888 Hahaha :p

  • 2:44 Oo

  • more you unscrew it, more you get professional in this :)

  • how did the hair get inside

  • @FelisInsomniaCody Cat hair... It goes wherever it wants to go haha

  • Thank You! Your video has inspired me to attempt to fix my Samsung. I'm sure my dog has been using it when I am not around, lol

  • hey AK49BWL, i've a Canon E1 that fell on the floor and got the zoom out not working, was very easy to fix, just taken the screws out adjusted the notch in front plastic cover over the zoom lever inside, tested and it worked fine but when i added the screws again and nothing else but this starting it gave me on screen "Lens error restart camera" with billion beeps, shit it down pressed against lens tried again and then the lens is stuck wont come out at all with terrible sound .. any hope !! :(

  • Hope I haven't been to rough with the lens already trying to push it in ( was hearing/feeling some loud clicks) thanks fo r this vid. I will try again now!

  • @bluesmusiccat Good luck!

  • Awesome - I have an IXUS with a lens error - tried pushing the lens back in when switched on but no joy - from your vid im guessing the problem is the gears in the lens - tried to take it apart - managed to get the outer casing of but then got nervous as not sure how to get to the lens unit that you seem to have removed here I guess I am going to have to remove the screen and detach the ribbon wires to get to the gears in the lens unit.

  • @bluesmusiccat Yes, you have to pull off the LCD to get at three tiny screws that hold the lens assembly to the body of the camera, and after that the lens will come loose. I don't recall if there are any screws to remove from the lens assembly itself, but I do know you have to be extremely careful with the ribbon cables that surround it! If I recall correctly, the lens assembly is two parts that simply snap together, but please don't quote me on that... lol

  • lol

  • Hi AK49BWL, do you have any idea if a point & shoot like this would work if it's lens were taken out and replaced (somehow attached) with a manual fixed focal one? like those CCTV lenses? I would want to do this to my A560 but i don't want to destroy it. It would be great if it worked because there are some really fast (f1.4) lenses out there..

  • @8minutestorm I've seen it done by people on the CHDK forums, you'll want to look there. There are a myriad of sensors in the lens that will throw errors and crash the camera if they're not in the correct position when the camera starts, so they must be remotely switched if the camera is to function at all.

This is but one example, I'm sure there are others: chdk.setepontos. com/index.php ?topic=3409.0

    - - remove the spaces from the link... Youtube killed it.

  • @AK49BWL thanks a lot! decent amount of info i couldn't find before

  • Thanks AK49BWL! I'll try to with the IXUS 105... when I get a decent screwdriver.

  • Hi AK49BWL! Thanks for the video. Nice screwdriver, what it is?

Right now I have the "opportunity" to do a similar job in a IXUS 105, and, maybe, make a video for the benefit of others (like yours helps me). If you had to do this video again.... would you do something different? Thanks!

  • @duvelr The screwdriver is part of a 36 piece precision set like this one: imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/acebiz/Husky_36_Piece_Precision_Screwdriver_Set_Split.jpg

If I had to do the video different... I'd show how I got the camera apart down to the lens where I picked up. My camera corrupted that segment of video, which is why it's not in the final cut :(

  • QUE BUENO! GOOD

I have a camera. A 1000 IS, its a problem with the lens. I need disarm. But in the part of the dial I cant... This locked. How do I?

Thank. I speak Spanish, sorry my translation

  • i cant belive yu did all of dat jus for a piece of cat hair yu cudnt barely even notice wen u zoom out

  • @aliciacutiepie19 I noticed it, and that's all it takes lol.

  • you need to sell the cat or ask him or her to clean it with their stickey lickeys..jeff

  • Great video, but how do you remove the clips on the ribbons for the lcd screen?

  • @jasonplumleigh If I remember right, you can pull the top one (behind the flash) by just pulling on it, but you'll need to release the clip before trying to put it back... A small screwdriver works well for this. The other cable is released by lifting the connector's retainer and just sliding the cable out. It is held to the bottom of the camera by adhesive, so just pull it gently until it comes loose.

  • @AK49BWL got it, thanks. my camera was slightly different being a SD750, but still generally the same. thanks again.

  • very goog

  • Thanks for this video! Very inspiring! Gave me motivation to clean my Canon SD780is with success! Got rid of all those dust particles!! =)

  • LOL,having two cats i can believe this.I see their hair in places around here that hard to believe.I just look at them both and say" how do you guys do it"and laugh.

  • That was interesting. Nice to be able to fix your own camera. :) It's amazing how cat hair can get into almost anything.

  • Yeah I know.. So much for sealed lenses, haha!
