If you took the dirt out of their games, they would still be effective, sought-after top-9 forwards. For hockey purposes, Gillies is little more than a slab of beef on skates.
Danny Briere is a cheapshot artist, but he's about as far from being a goon as possible.

I just came back from the Islander Ranger game. Boogard and Gillies fough a few minutes into the first period. Boogard did win, but Gillies not only started the fireworks he hung in there and got a takedown. My hat is off to him.
