Perhaps the most important clue to the age of this commercial is the "boat you can steer." The famous swimming pool was closed to swimming for the 1953 and 1954 seasons, so instead of swimming the park offered "U-drivem" boats. So that's when I believe this commercial aired - in the early 50's.
In a wonderful tribute, the "scenes" from this commercial are now painted on the back wall of the bumper car building.
the ride at :10 is gone :( why did they have to get rid of the Old Mill?? Well I do have to Thank Kennywood for bring back the Bayern Kurve, that ride is Awesome.
They did away with the old west theme of the "Old Mill", "Haunted Hideaway" and brightened it up alot and call it "Garfield's Revenge" as of a few years now. They claim there was too much inappropriate behavior going on in the cover of darkness.
Wow, love this old commercial. I hadn't seen this in years. Too bad it's cut, but something is better than nothing, right? It says in your profile that your 94 years old? If so, I think it's great that you do things like this. My dad, who still lives in West Mifflin, is lucky he knows how to use the remote control for the TV. (And he's a mere 76 years old). I wanted to give him a computer, and he looked at me as if I had 7 heads. (And then he bitched at me, so I know he's fine).
omg this is the comercial on Kennywood Memories!!!!!!!!!!! i love that documentary!!!!!!!
