Dam! Talk about the good old days " I'm down @ the Ritz, performing my new hits, and front row seats is what 40 bucks gets". Man! Inflation is a mutha!!
Some performers today $40 won't even get you nose bleed seats!! Just sayin!!
@hundredthough ohhhhh your right !! i was thinking of dee from whats happening- but as for roxanne- i think she may have a doctorate actually because in order to practice psychology a doctorate is required
roxanne doesn't have a doctorate nor practice. she came clean last year about the whole "dr" thing. even so, she has helped many, given great advice, and was the keynote speaker at numerous events over many years. she played the role well. she still speaks at events, has a radio show with marley marl, and of course, rocks the mic! i'm not sure if she still has her ice cream palor.
@theoriginalschool Can't argue with that, but I felt that Cold Chillin' could have done a better job with the promotion of that album. But then again, she got lost in the sauce between other albums that came out on Cold Chillin' in '89. She had to go up against Big Daddy Kane's "It's A Big Daddy Thing", Kool G Rap's "Road To The Riches" AND Biz Markie's "The Diabolical Biz Markie"- all of which were successful, and she didn't stand a chance, LOL!!!
@theoriginalschool You too, huh? I still love this album after all these years. I only wished that she released "Feelin' Kinda Horny" as a single. That was the best song on the album!!!
this was my jam...plus i use to date a girl with them same teeth and she would put the biggest passion marks on my neck while dancin to this song..lol
Shante, Rakim and so many others like them were true lyricists back in the day. theirs was the kind music that made you listen to the words as well as the beats. Nowadays, rap musicans get by with so very little talent. Today's rap musicians are so repititive with the songs they put out--it's like their songs are nothing more than just the chorus being looped for three to four minutes. Nothing like the golden era of hip hop.
I remember being sick when this song came on Yo MTV Raps. I had diarrhea bad. I was like 10 years old bac then. Aint that fucked up? My only memory from this song was being sick. My pajamas were shitty ass hell. LMAO
@GeorgeHarrison66 big business corporate big wigs seen how much money they could make off hip hop,and sucked the life out, like vampires.now these young kids think soulja boy is a mic recka.LOL
MC Lyte is the greatest female MC of all-time, everybody knows that. Shante' won the greatest battles tho. Kinda like Dr. J paving the way for Jordan, Shante' is right there with Lyte,,,
she was one of the SMAETEST business women in the ENTIRE music business....she made the LABEL pay for her education for LIFE!!!!!!!....WHAT!?!?! she was DEFINITELY thinkin ahead...WORD!
im sayin right?...she was definitely ahead of the game...and good lord i just realized i made a huge! typo "smaetest" really...hahaha...yeah i can laugh at myself...whats good my dude? uve earn'd an invite. my friend
