Reclamation is not just throwing grass seed on rock...Dirt, sometimes the original dirt that came from the top is put down for vegetation to grow. im a coalminer from Louisa, there IS such a thing as "Responsible mining" The thing about it is,it does some damage to an extent, but it is the backbone of this country, your very way of life is dependent on it. We could stop mining and shut our country down, while the rest of the world mines and burns it, or we could be the flagship of responsible, clean burning coal.And for greenpeace.i bet if they let you grow pot on reclaimed land, you wouldnt protest coal.

Yeah the mts will be gone. Those mountains are our natural buffer against extreme severe weather like the tornado outbreaks in the midwest. Without these mtns here I expect to see another Greensburg KS. destroyed by an EF-5. Also the cancer rate is higher than ever before in this area.
