To the uncle, I'm sorry for your loss. This is the hardest thing a loving parent or guardian can be called to do. If you aren't spanking your children when they act as this young man did, if you can turn your back on the hard parts of parenting when you are called, then you don't need to be a parent. I could honestly see the love, the hurt, the disappointment and worry on the uncle's face as he administered this punishment. Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Ok, I understand that his uncle don't want him doing wrong, but giving him an ass-whooping and embarrassing him by putting it on the internet was not the way to teach him a lesson. It's a shame what's been happening n our city! We never have gangs dwn here. All that came about after Katrina. The killings, yes! N they're (murderers) are getting younger by the yr! It's the same thing (killings) EVERYDAY, n it's sad to say it may possibly never stop! It needs to start w/ the parents to the programs! I pray that we all take heed n also pray for this young boy n his family. RIP Michael.

@kato3000 I disagree, it's just that people can't change by force, they have to change because they personally want to. Some people change on their own when they realize their lifestyle is getting them nowhere in life. Sadly you can't change when you are dead. The uncle did what he could but the kid was just too ignorant.

@Hazevamp27 yeah thats true no one will change unless they want to. In different areas if you aren't tough you are considered a lame or outcast so some do it to fit in or seem cool. That life is glorified and its sad that people fall into that trap. I don't know how you could change his mindset but I'm sure this public beating did nothing but hurt him further.

@kato3000 I understand what you mean, but I don't think it hurt him further. That kid looked soft and did not belong in a gang. I hate to say it, but he looked like he was destined to die if he stayed in, which was the choice HE made long before that beating took place. This just proves that all of the coddling, beatings, tough love, and soft love will never change a person. They have to do it themselves. Even if the Uncle had never stepped in, the same outcome would have occurred.
