@Duongngo2008 its not even close, kobes been shitted by so many of his peers its embarrassing. gilbert dropped 60 on him in 06, a.i. dropped 48 on him in game 1 of the 01 finals, dwyane dropped 47 on christmas day 06 etc. his defense is mad overrated.
@Duongngo2008 why do people even bring up Kobe every time there is a Jordan video?.. Damn. just let it go. I'm a Kobe fan, but seriously. Just fucken let it go. It gets annoying.. Kobes not Jordan. Kobe bryant is Kobe bryant. let him be .. shit..
Jordan recorded a 48 inch vertical sometime early in his career. Also, it's not possible for any human being to stay in the air for a full second. (Sports Science)
I wish I had this game in 86 at NY where Jordan said he got his eye rim level:
"I always spread my legs when I jump high, like on my Rock-a-baby, and it seems like I've opened a parachute, like, that slowly brings me back to the floor. I was really up against New York in our first game. On my last dunk I think I was close to eye level with the rim. Sometimes you just hit your wrists on the rim, but this time it was my elbows and everything. I almost overdunked the whole rim."
LMAO @ KB42PAH. Dude has nothing better to do but troll. Hey, wherever Jordan's head is, it's about 3-6" higher than wherever Kobe's ever gotten his head. Fact. Look where the bottom of his feet are (even if you extend his legs). That's AT LEAST a 42" leap.
I agree that it's a 42 inch jump on that one. Not quite at rim level but very close. Still I think the most amazing jumps were the leaner dunks where his head was at rim level while leaning forward and he was jumping from the dotted line.
Sorry dude. No dice. MJ's head is obviously at rim level here...one of many many times MJ did this in game. Face reality. Kobe plays in a weaker era defensively, weaker competition, and can't accomplish what MJ did. Kobe top 15-20 all time. Jordan GOAT.
kobe plays against TALLER and STRONG defenders... Jordan is still the better player but get your facts straight. Go ahead and list some of those great defenders that guarded jordan
Wrong. Kobe does not play against taller and stronger defenders. As well, perimeter defense rules have been incredibly watered down in this era and favor the offensive player. There is nobody defending Kobe the equal Dennis Rodman, who guarded MJ while with Detroit. I watched the entire careers of both. Don't compare Kobe to Jordan.
ujum your wright kobe is the clowsest to have mj style game but hi is not better than jordan he dont got legendary buzzer beater like jordan he dont got legendary plays like jordan he dont got 30 8 and 8 in a season he dont got 37 per game in a season he dont got performance like jordan in playoff
You mean besides Alvin Robertson, Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, Michael Cooper, Gerald Wilkins, and Ron Harper? Not to mention the people waiting at the rim such as Ewing, Mark Eaton, Olajuwon, David Robinson, Shaq, Mutombo, Alonzo Mourning. Or the NBA allowing those big players to stand in the lane for 3 seconds or more and not worry about an Illegal defense call. Or the hand checking that allowed players to actually play real physical defense. Besides all of that, sure, Kobe has it tougher.
The zone wasn't even allowed in the NBA when Jordan played. That means Kobe was double and triple teamed a LOT more. You can't discredit that. ,And goes against double team from the zone in big men like Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudamire, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal.
People that guarded kobe Gerald Wallace, Shawn Marion, Bruce Bowen, Tayshawn Prince, Raja Bell, Larry Hughes, Ron Artest
Half of that list is LOCKDOWN defenders. Defense now is much, much better in the NBA.
Man, Kobe's a great player so why saying BS like this. He's not even close to MJ. Stop masturbating! Kobe's a great player. Period! Kobe has 2 scoring titles. MJ has 10. 2x5 = 10. Should i repeat ? 2x5 = 10. Kobe has been led by Shaq to win his first 3 titles. MJ led the Bulls to all 6 titles. MJ was 6 times at least 50% when he won scoring titles. Kobe never was above 47%. STOP MASTURBATE
@riiad your right jordan didnt have rodamn pippen a healthy grant and armstrong how did he do it not to mention he had the ball 80% of the game the other 20% was halftime jordan = overrated kobe= overhated
@longhornz0811 Kobe led the league in Usage% this season and in total FG attempts. The results? He led the league in missed shots and only managed to be 6th in the league in scoring.
Oh, and on the 91 Bulls squad, MJ was the only all star. It was a miracle that he led them to the title. And why the hell are you mentioning Armstrong? He was a good role player AT BEST. And Rodman was a great rebounder but the biggest liability in NBA history on offense.
Jordanhair, the reason I said you should re-edit it to include the full speed unfrozen clip is because I think he actually gets a HAIR (no pun intended :P) higher a split second after you freezed it, and also so people could get a better sense of the continuity of the play. Popeyeisgood, you won't see this from another angle because unlike today, where they will replay the most inane plays from 17 different angles, back then no one seemed to care that Jordan was doing sick stuff every game.
popeyeisgood, the Milwaukee alley-oops I mentioned can be seen in any MJ highlight video. Search for "Michael Jordan Top 10 Dunks/Plays" and I think it's one of the first dunks they show. He comes in from the far baseline and the PG throws an alley from like 30 feet out which Jordan puts down with 2 hands. Very famous play; his head is rim level on that one. You've definitely seen it.
Dude, thanks so much for getting this up. This is the clip I've mentione on forums a few times as one of the highest alley-oops jumps I've ever seen. My copy of this game is very grainy, though, and wouldn't play well with my editing program, so I couldnt include it in my compilation video. This and his famous 2-hand alley-oop vs. Milwaukee from his rookie year are the highest I've ever seen him get on alley-oops. He's eye level with the rim there. Too bad there was no replay like today.
i really want to see this from another angle. i think mj never excessively tried to jump too high during the game, but to those who said carter or leborn can outjump mj, i think that is totally foolish statement.
the famous dunk over ewing in 91's playoff, his head was actually leveled with the rim, but he was hit by ewing and had his head tilted so that it didnt seems like it.
they dont call him air jordan for nothing. i agree with that though cause its hard to achieve ur maxium jump height during a game because the opportunities rarely presents themselves. you dont have the opportunites during a game to present your maxium abilities in terms of jumping because of defenses.
did he miss the dunk?
