  • i love the prius but im starting to like hondas

  • ... if the driver has time to call 911, then surely he could figure out a way to stop the vehicle, a good driver must know how to stop his vehicle even if there are accelerator or break problems... Toyota has also its faults, but don't blame it all to the car company, You the driver must be in control no matter what the circumstances are... Insight vs prius? hmm I'd go with the prius

  • Joe and Kelsey; two of my favourite Cars dot com presenters.

  • wow! the insight luked really good

  • Not much information except for the profile comparison.

  • i think one reason why gas prices are so high cause ppl keep buying 15 mpg trucks and could of had a car that gets 30 mpg think about it and do the math

  • I def think the Honda looks better, much bettter. & the interior looks so cool.

  • At least the Honda will stop when you want it. With the recent Toyota "cost and safety cutting" measures. I wouldn't trust Toyota.

Not only that look at the design aesthetics. The Insight is sleek and cutting edge inside and out and the Prius looks like an over-sized odd shaped piece of plastic, and, it is over priced in terms of the cheap parts Toyota is putting in its vehicles to cut cost and maximize profits. At their customer's some time "death" expense. Toyota is over-rated hype.

  • @Hiteminthewallet all bullshit... i guess those drivers didnt know that their cars had lil black boxes in them. Driver error

  • @ricoswerve1260 Toyotaho I guess brand allegiance is more important than your life. Spin the wheel, but do it in an empty parking lot so you can't hurt others with your rolling death machine. Toyota's spin in their favor; smart people are bypassing their dealerships and brand. What car company blames mechanical error on their customers? Are they saying they are selling their cars to stupid people? That explains your purchase.

I guess that 911 call of the police officer crashing was fake.

  • @Hiteminthewallet The Prius is way better.. Better gas mileage, better interior, more horsepower, and the Insight's design is borderline copyright infringement. Yeah, the guy in San Diego that "went out of control" did not apply the brakes at all, was behind on his Prius payments, and about to go into bankruptcy. Not one prius has had a credible event. Attack the guys on top. Government Motors and the others really benefited from all these allegations.. and people seen an opportunity.

  • My ninja gets 43 mpg too, at 80 mph...LMAO...

  • slighty Better gas mileage isn't enough considering payments and higher auto insurance premiums. I wonder how much auto insurance is now with these recalls and related safety issues? The newest cars coming up promise much higher MPG or EVs. The combos 'seem' even better. But life threatening/gltches are the issues now.

  • so the civic has better mpg than the insight? does not compute

  • cmon! not all Toyota and Lexus are infected. although I would not waste my money on a lexus

  • HONDA FTW

  • The new Prius has MAJOR brake problems and had to be recalled. I'd stay away from that.

  • @Hound419 inform yourseves idiot one prius are recalled because a woman had say that his accedent is prius brake problem but the pc of prius have saied that she dont have brake so she is under legal process started by toyota

  • The only reason a person would say a German car, such as a Mercedes-Benz or BMW, is bad is because they can't afford one.

  • of course toyota is gunna go and redisgn the prius just as soon as honda comes out with the new insight in a feeble attempt to keep honda down.

  • I am lesbian.

  • @thatslesbian Cool! thumbs up

  • @thatslesbian rofl!

  • Toyota announced today a recall of 3.8 million cars...because of a problem with their floor mat!

The vehicles, which include the bestselling Toyota Camry and the famous hybrid Toyota Prius, are said to be at risk of getting the accelerator stuck in the floor mat while you are driving.

You are better off buying a Ford Fusion Hybrid not perceived quality...

  • The floor mat problem can happen to any car. Of all the vehicles out there, it only happened to one car. On top of that, the vehicle that crashed had the wrong mats in, being a loaner car at a dealership. Toyota is just being responsible to its customers.

  • Remember, the Honda is only a "half hybrid", but the Prius is. The Honda can´t run only on battery, it simply needs the petrol-engine. the Prius, on the other hand, is a "full hybrid", because it can run only on the eletric-engine for a couple of km / m. So i would prefer the Prius, even though its more expensive.

  • I think that the honda looks much sportier and cool than the toyota... But I would take either one.

  • Prius is a nice car to own. I'm looking art getting one next year or an insight and stock the cx-7 and evo that the family have.

  • My vote goes to the Toyota Prius. Four wonderful years with the GII. And, my new car is a Prius GIII. Good job Toyota.

  • My vote goes to the Honda Insight. toyota is a dick for stealing honda's credit for the first hybrid in america. go honda!! but screw the both of them buy a volkswagen jetta TDI Clean Diesel its priced about the same as a Basic 2010 Toyota Prius and gets over 50mpg.

  • I have been to their websites and also at the dealerships, the cars have standard MPG. Even their Diesel cars and truck don't get over 40 MPG. The 3 Diesel cars only get up to 30+ MPG. But their cars have better room for both rear and head. Even rear vents unlike most cars out here today! But Honda has a better reputation with design and MPG. Go Honda!

  • yeah right and thats why german cars are the most reliable in the world way past the japanese brands i read it on a website that has alot of credibility. so its true.

  • Did you read that on a Volkswagen website?

  • BTW lets just drop the whole thing before we start cussing each other out. i dont even want to go their this time about something stupid.

  • Toyota was manufactoring the Toyota Prius in 1997 Honda didn't produce their car until 2000. If you look at all of their vehicles they come out about two to three years after Toyota. Honda is the lil brother who always follows you around saying me to me to me to. The insight is a cheap copy of the Prius. And the Prius really gets an average of 51 mpg.

  • You know it's funny because they obviously copied the shape too.

  • Saving gas is a given with all hybrid cars, the car price isn't.

    Source: Edmunds.

  • JAPANESE POWER

  • the 'real' avg that the Volt will get in about 35MPG once you go beyond 40 miles. Some none hybrid car already achieve that mileage. GM will never compete against Toyota. Too bad they fucked up on discontinuing the EV1.

  • Late 2010 GM will be MFG a 230 MPG car. You heard me right 230MPG, called the "Volt". I got a feeling Toyota's about to LOSE a whole bunch of "valued customers". I think that's GREAT. Toyota needs to be chopped down to size. It's WAY too egotistical of a company. Besides OUR country's workers & engineers need the money WAY more than Japan or China could ever image...

  • I'll believe it when I see it. Do you have to constantly plug it in to achieve that 230 rating claim?

  • "Constantly", as in run down the road with a cord plugged in? LOL, NO. It has a small, light, very high tech gas powered charging engine that keeps the charge going. Toyota no longer deserves or is worthy of its claims to be such a great company. There's been way too many examples or their ego getting in the way of what's right toward customer service, they've lost it.

  • that is the best comment i've heard in a long time...good job!

  • VOLT hybrid:

But how much is the car? If it's more than any hybrid car prices today. How many years till you get to pay off the premiums. Even if the car saves gas at 230 MPG but the cost is 33-35k then you're looking at additional 3-5 yrs extended in return. Even on a SUV annual gas consumption is at $1000-$1800

  • But "that" depends totally upon the price of fossile fuel. It was reasonbale to say that gasoline was once predicted to hit $10 per gallon at one time. What guarantees does ANYONE have in this volitile, cut throat finacial world that gasoline WON'T go up to even $5. How short are memories are ? Live for today ?= Not in MY world...

  • I really don't care about US made cars or JP cars. Preference I want to save gas, functionality, practicality, and at our budgeted price. Environment wise on oil, gas and emissions are 2nd asset. Not only it would benefit me, environment but the economy as well..generally speaking that is.

  • 230 mpg sounds pretty attractive, at least to me...

  • solo se requiere calidad y eficiencia para estos tiempos y un buen carro es todo lo que se ocupa no quien los construyo traduscan esto jajaja a mi me da hueva, only quality and efficiency for this time, a good car is all we need who care the country

  • doesn't toyota build a lot of their cars in the united states? also i thought that American cars were more popular in asian markets than asian auto makers

  • u guys are so stupid than u r waisting money on some american rich man what did they do for 9/11 NOTHING

  • american has 1 of worst quality

  • not so anymore....fords quality is [HIGHER] then toyota...i'm sure you wont or dont believe this, but thats the facts ...pple are brainwashed into thinking toyota equals quality and the american cars sucks ..well that was 1980's thinking ...that time, and thinking is over ..toyotas have always been and always will be flimsy throw away cars and 3 times the expense to fix

  • yeah that's not true by any 3rd party testing....1st 10 years of reliability is honda then toyota and after 10 years its toyota then honda and far far back is back like 5th now they have improve though

  • really? tell that to my two friends who died in a toyota in a low-speed crash.

    FUCK TOYOTA!

  • I'm with you, but japanese made cars are far superior than american made cars especially hybrids.

  • you are a fag

  • Nice review and comparison between the two vehicles.

  • why are there always nerds showing us this stuff....get a better spokesman

  • INIGHT hona better waranty LOL the pruis sucks @ss

  • if the American car companies didn't betray the consumer, there wouldn't be a high demand for foreign cars. the big 3 are known for their good looking cars but bad on reliability and affordability.

I think that's were they can start from to gain peoples trust in them again. would you buy American knowing the situation they're in now?

  • i wood buy one now more then ever ...sure there cars got a bit slopy, but always thinkijng there cars are bad is really 1980;'s thinking .....and i do remember toyota having there fair share of recalls and troubles too..but most ppl dont really here of that side of it though..most ppl are brain washed into thinking toyta =quality , and hey..were was toyota when 9/11 happened?...you didnt see them stepping up to the plate to help ..all they want is [OUR] money ..plain and simple

  • im going to make the prius and hybrid hybrid vehicle. i know its a hybrid already, but what if... now i know what your thinking, "hes crazY!!" but just listen, what if we make a hybrid into.... ANOTHER HYBRID!!!! damn! we be getting like 100mpg!

  • The base model of the 2010 Insight does not come with a center armrest, very dissappointing especially since I like to rest my elbow on it in long rides. A $1,500 increase from LX to EX will include that armrest, thats an expensive armrest!!!

  • The 2010 Prius takes the crown again. The new Prius looks more fierce, has way way way better MPG than the 2010 Insight. It's more sporty. Even the last gen prius gets better mileage. The insight looks ok, but i do like the coloring option in the insight's instrument panel. other than that the Prius still owns.

  • Okay so both cars get 50 to 70 in real world experience so everybody's happy. Yeah no fighting lol.

  • The Insight's MPG is WAYYYY underrated. All of the reviewers and such have gotten anywhere from 50-65 MPG easily.

  • lol... i love that man child in a suit

  • Read any review of the insight. They all say that the listed MPG is far lower than what they actually got driving it. Most say they actually ran in the high 40's to low 50's.

  • Comment removed

  • i constantly see assholes driving cars like this in the stupidest way.

i could easily get 60-70mpg in either one of these cars.

  • nice vid i love cars i also love ipods

  • Prius blew it out of the water. 50mpg and if you talk to many owners the mpg's you can get on a prius goes up after time. Since the Honda Insight is new it will take time to figure out if it is the same. Plus, they completely ripped off the design and did a shittastic job at it eww Honda!

  • if you look at the first generation Insight u'll see that the prius copied it. The new and old insight look a lot the same.

  • yea honda was first to sell hybrids in america but toyota copied the design and build upon it. Honda doin same now

  • God, you're a fucking moron.

  • I think The Prius beat the Insight by far!!

  • You are so cute Kelsey Mays.

  • Test drove the new Honda Insight today-----disappointed in amount of body roll while changing lanes, etc. Way too much body roll! Very skinny tires might be a problem on windy days. Will wait for new Prius.

  • this just shows toyota and honda are not worried about detroit they are NOT the competition.

its between these 2 giants toyota vs honda

toyota is now words #1 in 2008 on a bad economy GM is talking about

  • honda is still smaller than GM and Ford.

  • Toyota doing better compare to GM or Ford. I don' t think Toyota is small for America

  • Toyota is awesome!!!!!!!i luv it!!!

    it has great mpg

  • FUCK TOYOTA..

  • Comment removed

  • EPA ratings are irrelevant. you can achieve 40+ mpg with a car that doesn't have hybrid technology very easily. it's all about driving habits. most people who purchase hybrid vehicles do it for one of two reasons: tax incentives or image-consciousness. between the two i'd still take the insight over the prius. why the Prius get's all the credit for the hybrid craze is beyond me. Toyota wasn't the first to market, Honda was.

  • Yea but you can achieve over 65 mpg with a car that is a hybrid if you have the right driving habits.

  • actually Ford in the 30s

  • Everyone, please ignore below Jap(rctsos) comments. He is a idiot dumbass cocksucker who is a real embarassment to Japan nation. True Japanese think of garbage like him as someone who was abused and raped by his fahter and gay freinds when he was young. Please do not think he represents the majority of us Japanese. I apologize that they are so many gay faggot Japanese like him on youtube. I think it is a product of poor family up bringing and a homosexual complex. I am sorry.

  • When the world makes cars,Toyota makes dreams, that when you least the aspects, become reality.Toyota Prius was the most waited car during the NAIAS in Detroit..there is a reason..Toyota teaches, the world learns..

  • great car. If I werent such a cheapskate id get the insight.

And get fucked about 2009 looking dorky! It's a lot better than the 2010 prius in terms of style.. yuck

These reviewers have no fuckin clue.

  • Hey,rctsos the Korean boy..

Why do you pretend Japanese super-nationalist?

When I watched your Profile before,

You were from CANADA,and insuting Japan so much.

    Now this time,

You are pretending Japanese so that Many people dislike Japanese.

You'd better behave yourself and study,to make your own country better.

  • Or is it $10,000. I think it may be.

  • The price difference is going to be like $5,000 right?

  • Yeah, the price difference is huge.

  • this is funny how a Prius can get so much attention! Europeans have being driving Diesel cars that can better 50+ U.K mpg for years!!! thats about 41.63 U.S mpg. Newer cars can reach much more and the 2009 Volkswagen golf bluemotion is said to better 75 Mpg U.K on the combined cycle. Thats' 62.44 U.S Mpg! So It has only 105bhp but has lots more torque when compared to Gas! Europeans have being paying insane tax on cars and fuel which is why we need smaller cheaper to fuel cars!

  • Maybe they are too small for Americans....

  • diesel is not very popular in america...yet, thats why this new prius is such a big deal. Toyota is working on a diesel lithium ion prius though with estimated over 100mpg combined, expect that around 2013.

  • Who the hell buys these ugly looking jap cars? The prius was about the ugliest thing ive ever seen when it first came out, same with the insight. I dont care how many mpg it gets, if gas was really hurting me so bad, id get a vw diesel. At least the vw actually look like cars, these look like wanna be futuristic pieces of crap.

There so slow, you probably cant even overtake a semi on the highway.

  • well these cars are not made for speed nor to be a super sports car either, they follow the very design philosohpy of aerodynamics, new innovative engine and electronic technology and breakthroughs in research and devolpement. So I would buy it to leave a small insignificant carbon blueprint for a cleaner world for all of us.

  • You do know there production pretty much negates all there environmental advantages. Diesel is really what needs to start being put into more American small cars. Also the Chevy Volt looks about a million times better then both these cars, and its still a hybrid, they dont have to be ugly.

You do a lot more for the environment by keeping your old car, or buying a used car then you do by buying a brand new hybrid.

  • wow do you even know what a hybrid is supposed to do?

by the way, GM cars look so out-dated.

  • Yes I know how a hybrid works..... and American companies were the first to start doing wind tunnel tests, you act like there building ugly bricks.

Im willing to sacrifice 2mpg to have a better looking car as opposed to one thats ugly and slightly more aerodynamic.

  • name a better buy than one of these cars. Don't say the Volt becuase that's going to cost well over 40k, compared to 26k for a prius.

  • Go buy an old VW diesel :)

Buying a new car is terrible for the environment, reusing a used car is MUCH MUCH more environmentally friendly. Of course Toyota wont tell you that though, because they want you to go buy a new car so they keep making money.

My diesel tech teacher has a VW rabbit, bought it for 300$ and he gets around 40mpg and diesels are a hell of a lot more durable then a gas or gas/electric.

  • so what your saying is that we shouldn't buy new cars at all?

let me tell you something about volkswagens too, thye're really un-reliable because they are made in Mexico! Not all of them of course, but the ones in America are all made in mexico. That's what gives volkswagen a bad reputation.

  • My teacher got an old VW rabbit diesel. 250,000 miles on it, still gets 40+mpg. He paid 300$ for it, has put 40,000 miles on it in the past 3 years. All repairs have cost 1,000$ in those 3 years. So for 1300$ hes being a hell of a lot more environmentally friendly then any Prius owner.

I would NEVER buy a new car, there way too expensive and theres just something magical about an old car, they almost develop a soul over the years.

Never heard of VW having a bad reputation.

  • Eventually the souls die :( i agree with you though, we hade a subaru x400 or something, 250,000+ miles and ran better than my Veracruz in the snow. We sold it recently, and because it was my first and only car until '93, it was very hard to see it go. On another note, i do plan on getting a 2010 prius, looks sexy i think, and gets probably 50+ mpg. Good deal if you ask me :)

  • Its good that 2010 prius can get 50+ mpg. But have you thought how much maintenance is going to be for a car like that. That most likely you'll have to take it to the dealer for repair? I think you'll spend more on maintenance than you'll save on gas.

  • Well I currently own an '06 and so far I have never had to take it into repair, ever. I think maybe its time for a new battery, but other than that, absolutely no maintenance has been needed.

  • When you think about maintanance on this type of car it might be expensive but I think about the fact that Toyota is making this car.

Toyota is known for quality if GM where making it i would be concerned ... ;)

I am driving a 12 year old Porsche and it costs $1200 every time i take it to the garage. I am very honestly thinking about a 2010 Prius for many reasons.

  • I own a 996 and I dont spent that kind of money.

  • toyotas are fag-mobiles.grow some balls and get a Camaro...douche!

  • yep.. i drive an 04 insight, and spend far LESS on maintenance than any car I've ever owned. there are less moving parts, i only need an oil change every 6,000 miles... so your arguement that "you'll spend more on maintenance than you'll save on gas" is baseless and holds no water. I'm not sure why you concocted this opinion with nothing to go by.

oh and i've never had any issue outside of having the battery replaced after 110,000 miles... completely free as it's warrantee work!

  • Im really not too concerned about being environmentally friendly. But buying these little ugly cars, is much worst for then environment then buying a 10 year old Honda hatch. When you buy a new car, i assume you already have a car which will either get sold to someone else or scrapped. Also a prius takes an awful lot of materials and man hours to make. Then when they come out with a new prius, oh youre going to want to trade in to get that extra 2mpg and feel all warm and cozy inside.

  • 2010 prius lose the built in gps?

  • * expensive cars not women of course :-)

  • h t t p : / / i40.tinypic . com/11jmdmw. j p g

  • hmmm strange...looks like Toyota copies Honda,ok its uggly but Honda do the first ugly hibrid :D(Prius is from 1997,but from 97-03 its a normal sedan, the first insight from 1999 is a crx looking hybrid,Toyota in 2003 add 2 more door)

  • *sigh*

A car is only meant to take you from point A to B. What difference does it make what you drive, as long as it has an engine and 4 wheels. After this requirement, you look to see what is the most fuel efficient car that fits your price range. Who cares about HUD color, exterior design (as long as it looks reasonably like a car), and horsepower. As long as the car is reliable and efficient that's all you really need. Anything more than this is just borderline selfish and materialistic.

  • you can drive from the point A to the point B with something prettier than a condom lookin car like these.

An intelligent woman is wonderful but a pretty intelligent woman is a gift from God

  • If you're a real man, you can put your ego aside and attract sexy women without a fancy sports car.

  • I drive a SMART BRABUS car and I can absure you that I can attract A LOT of pretty and sexy girl!

Thinking of attracting women with an expensive women is for losers.I am the first to say that!

BUT if I would live in america I would buy FOR SURE a camaro,a challenger or a mustang not a condom lookin car like prius or insight!

you are not able to appreciate the fantastic value for money these cars are, unfortunately here they cost about $ 70.000!!!

  • Why would you buy a muscle car?

  • I like the style,I like the big american cars but I don't like suv's.

build them hybrid, water powered, diesel powered...even shit powered but build them not condom looking like prius and insight

  • There's this famous Chinese expression, translated in English goes: Dog shit wrapped in gold.

Automakers who make those muscle cars merely try to dupe you into buying the car simply by its looks, but it has little quality on the interior and has little parts reliability; the engine might be powerful, but is more likely to break down over a Japanese or European car.

Moral of the story: Try to avoid "dog shit wrapped in gold"

  • I'm not trying to discourage you from loving your muscle cars, by all means cherish them, even buy them. But really think about it. Is it worth the money? Essentially, you are purchasing "looks" to show everyone how cool you are (no offense). That is what people who drive these muscle cars are like. They are insecure about themselves, yet they need to feel superior and macho. American automakers know this about people --> hence welcome the Mustang or the Hummer or the Escalade or the Camaro

  • I must repeat what i said in the preceeding post...

I own a SMART BRABUS car which is the SMALLEST car in the world so I don't think that I want to show anyone my machism, but I like beautiful cars and if I would live in usa I would buy an american car not for sure a condom lookin car such as prius or insight.

this not means, for me,showing machism but showing taste!

and I would like to see also hybrid muscle cars, what do I hate is the ridicolous look which MANY asian cars have.

  • How does a Prius or an Insight look like a condom?

  • it's simple, look at their ugliness and you will see the condom

  • Do you even know what a condom looks like?

  • sure,it has the same shape of the mighty prius, even though the shape of the ordinary condom is a little bit prettier than our beloved toyota

  • ever heard of aerodynamics?

you have no sense in car looks.

  • I have TASTE.A condom is perfectly aerodynamic and it fits perfectly on a dick, that not means it is a beautiful tool

It is possible to build hybrid cars not looking like condoms

  • thus, you proved my point that you don't know anything about cars, and only came here thinking you were funny.

  • I really HATE to be funny! my purpose is to show how criminals are the designers who gave birth to such shit looking cars as insight and prius.

The one who can't understand this fact is completely tasteless

  • honda ftw

  • where is nissan?

  • welcome to the CONDOM look!

these cars are a joke, anyone driving these shit will look like wimpy dumb idiot

  • haha some people are manly enough it doesnt matter what car they are driving.

  • Prius FTW

  • PRIUS for the PEOPLE.

  • Chevrolet Volt burns these cars! But Dodge EV really does!

  • wow they both look awesome, its good to see hybrids getting cheaper

  • what they forget is the Honda handles 10 times better than the Prius.

  • Exactly. I'd get a Honda over a Toyota any day. In terms of pure driving enjoyment, Toyotas are near the bottom in the auto industry.

  • I really don't have much concerns on which one is better between these 2... because IMO the hydrogen running Honda FCX Clarity is the future anyways.

  • I'd take a Honda over a toyota anyday..

  • i like the prius better.......

  • cool!

  • If the Honda is about 3k to 4k less than the Pruis i will consider the Honda, the only thing i dislike about the Insight it has no passive entry system standard or optional, it has no push button start.

  • A car with Priuss economy and interior along with Insights exterior would have rocked!

  • Honda Insight FTW!

  • prius has knee airbag. i like that!

  • Both cars are nice, I like the Prius interior better, Honda's interior reminded me of those cheap boomboxes from K-mart back in the 80s. However, if Honda's price is a lot lower than Toyota's, then I will get a Honda instead.

  • both are great

  • Acules

    Don't playa-hate

    Appreciate!

Honda cloned the last gen Prius, and couldn't even match their Civic's EPA

    Prius by TKO!

  • ='D just search 1. gen insight then look at prius...from 2003-2004 the design changed....the insight is come out 1999 XD Failed sit down

  • hmm the Honda sounds good all around, but the Toyota gets 50 mpg now thats alot. so i guess i would have to go test drive them to really figure it out. anyway good show!

  • i guarentee you that prius will only get 39 and the honda get 45 in real life driving. Honda always beats toyota, NEVER BUY TOYOTA!

  • GO TOYOTA PRIUS!

  • too bad Nissan didn't join the party too.

  • What does ftw mean?

  • For the Win.

  • that was quik
