moss of moses grown in a basket, for we ask if it.. has a mother or a father? it says the eart is its birth and the apples were golden green in the face of the earth water birth in a stream landing on the grass of a moss at what cost of the free space and the species all to keep these collections in the basket, worn on the arm held on the head with all through life even when dead the basket's in the casket being eaten by a worm
Colored shells jangle together the year is old the wind is cold the trees whisper together...ah yea. Some of us are still living in little cabins in the woods, awaiting awaiting and awaiting. For the humans to wake up.
Jeez! I was listening to this track ... and then I remembered I'd got something on the stove, in the kitchen ...I raced in ... and found my steak ... was burnt ... like a witch! It's not fair ... is it?
I dont know whether anyone noticedhow robin williamsons accent on the early incredible string band songs, where a lot of lyrics are spoken, had a lack of the scottish that he used more in his solo career and story telling.
Over 40 years ago I would have said that this song sounds better when your on acid. Now I'd say, wait, what? I can't remember. Where did THAT come from?
This is a quirky, fun side. I'm not as nuts about all of their stuff as I was 40 years ago, but this one has worn well. And please try to get us "Creation." You'll see. It'll be worth it.
Ray Davies on Psychotropiocal drugs perhaps, and with a Scottish accent!.Oh,and a love and understanding of music from before the modern age, rather than post war,and a complete disregard of even wanting or needing to have a hit single.
Then again,if anyone had thought to hand DAVE Davies an oud back in 1963,it could have turned out very very different!.
Splendid irony! Probably wasted. The Stringband did put out a couple of singles and had Woodstock proved different, had they signed to the Stones label, who knows? Personally obscure, spaced out, bardic meandering is more than good enough as the sound track of the bits of teenage I can nearly remember. May the long time sun shine on you!
I know that Mike and Robin (and many fans) have said that if Woodstock had been a success,it may not have been good for the music.I think that what they have left us is enough to ensure rediscovery for future generations, but I do wish that more of us could appreciate them now,and reward them, while they are still alive!.
Poor soul! I couldn't be without my ISB! There's 2-album double-CDs on Amazon (from one of their vendors) for about $13 w/shipping--the same price as the new Warner single album imports and actually from the same masters so they sound just as good. The album art is tiny, but the music is all there. The only ISB album currently not on CD is their last original LP "Hard Rope and Silken Twine." I'm a vinyl guy generally but these CD's sound better than the vinyl. Hope this helps!
When I first heard Incredibles some 20 years ago and saw this photo on their album I wished I live in such a family ... Their music influenced me SO much. After so many years I simply still love them.
One of the best album covers ever, right down to the Halloween quality of the sunlight and the knobby knees of the kids. I remember making exactly those masks on blue paper, getting totally dusted in the process with chalk.
A few years later, I revered these guys more than anyone ever revered Elvis. A little embarrassing today, but I was young then...

I like playing this on my guitar. It was pleasant to talk to the lovely pair back in the 1960s.
