  • 0:35 A bit of a misconception there I hear often. Space isn't actually cold - it isn't anything. A reason its often called cold, is that without influences from the sun or earth emitting light or heat, any object will slowly radiate its heat away, causing it to cool down. If the object is exposed to sunlight or IR from the earth, it will gain energy, and possibly heat up. The end temperature is a result of equilibrium between this radiation loss and energy gained from heat/light sources.
