Dean didn't drink that much; that was part of his Shtick. He drank tea and acted drunk. (He was a better actor than he got credit for). He even drank from one of the tables in front of the stage--prepared beforehand. Tea.
This is long before Dean's last appearance, his last was on the Sammy Davis Jr's 60th Anniversary special in 1990, Dean Martin had the last television appearance.
Now after decades I finally know why Frank didn*T come when Dean said over the phone,Come-I*m dying (and he was) , :the reason was Frank was the next eic he would wake up to....n te Wine Seall R...ie cellar. Good Solldier Friending THATS* IT*.
@teendramafreak89 It was likely his last actually. Watch the entire video. The audio dubbed at the beginning and the footage and audio at the end is a message to frank, this is from the early 90's
I knew Dean Martin Many years ago after his son Dean Paul Died. We used Drink together at Carmine's in Century City. He was the nicest and kindest person I have ever had the privilege to meet. I have missed him tremendously. I will never forget him!
My mum used to watch him she saud that Dean would drink and smoke onstage and would get drunk easily the audience thought he was hiarious when drunk not knowing he suffered from alcoholism
I think this was from the special celebrating Frank's 75th birthday in December 1990, 5 years before Dino passed on. Dino , who was 73 at the time looked pretty good. As Kenman22 correctly pointed out, Dino deteriorated pretty quickly the last 2 or 3 years of his life.
lol at the people not getting their brain around the fact that its last second of the clip that was his last appearance ... dean martins LAST not frank&deans last.
we're probably talking about the last 5 seconds of this clip: Dean wishing Frank Sinatra a happy birthday, which was on december 12th. Dean died on december 25th, 1995
I'm just a worthless whelp at 45, but, the ratpack was the BEST! The smiles, fun, charisma, and all out fun is matchless! They went the school of hard knocks(did it the best they could- my way!) and figured it out- like me, love me- don't like me, sorry. Not in the way, but you WON't stop me from doing what I want to do. Besides they were good at it! They loved to have fun and share it! Made a life out of screwing off! Lesson to be learned! Laugh.love and share!
Jinkies! Dino did not look healthy at the end. But few men do at that advanced age & who have lost all their teeth. But what a wonderful full head of hair he had up to his dying day. Ol balding Blue Eyes I'm sure wished he'd had Dino's lucious locks!
i think dean had a more smooth voice than frank but frank had probably the better voice and probably the best voice ever, but what i loved about these two and the whole rat pack is that none of them were aiming to be better they were all just there having fun they were amazing
R u people serious?? They r talking about his appearance at the end of the clip as being his last...cmon use some common sense..how can the old clips be his last???. Wow
@skipdillard i agree this is not his last appearance ...someone got their info wrong...these two men are the best..bring back the old shows and get rid of the filth and cursing of the new ones
@skipdillard This clip is from a show made in December of 1990, which included the old clips. It is Frank Sinatra's 75th Birthday Special. Marin's lung cancer was diagnosed in 1993 and he passed away in 1995. The video needs to make all of that more clear, as it certainly comes cross like clips from 1957 to 1964, but it really is from a 1990 special.
I think Frank was the better singer but Dean was a better entertainer. Any time they are performing together your eyes are more likely to go to Dean first. Great and touching video.
I don't think this was 1986. He looks and sounds frailer here than he was in 1988 when he ,Frank and Sammy went on the road with their " Together Again" tour. Dean pulled out early because of health problems. This might be Franks 75th birthday, which would make this1990

@DavidTyler1 well it wouldnt be Sinatra's 70th Birthday cos he died aged 82, so unless Dean was of TV for 12years I dont think so. :/

This was December 1986, on Frank Sinatra's 70th Birthday. Dean's last appearance is at the very end of this video.
