That's hysterical. Dave was like the party head that everybody wanted to hang out with. he fully understood his place at that time to the listening public. His personality was a selling point to VH and really took the frontman position to another level. ALL the hair bands and metal bands developed "personality" after Dave showed them how.

The Van Halen concert promo from the 81 FAIR WARNING tour was fucking killer...it started with the intro to "Aint Talkin Bout Love" and the announcer voice over was like..."New York...sold out! Los Angeles...sold out! Chicago...sold out! Dallas...sold out..."

Cool I like hearing old radio stuff. I used to have a tape of rockers doing our rock stations call letters back in the 80's in AZ. Wish I still had, good post.
