  • i luv apes

  • Warren had great wit. He wrote alot of sardonically funny songs. Not all of his tunes were about death, like so many people think. Too bad. Zevon was a master in any lyrical category.

  • That last one was an orang-utan!

  • Now we need Bill Lee.

  • @dugandean Bill Lee's on here somewhere now.

  • Okay, what the Hell was Warren's obsession with monkeys? Hahaha

  • @hillaryperson Leave his monkeys alone!!! XD

    :)

  • just one thing to say to this - karl pilkington - monkey news

  • left me here to take his place heh never be another warren zevon

  • Grreat song and gorilla pics.

  • No one can ever write these lyrics...Zevon will always be the man!

  • Warren was brilliant. Able to write a funny parody on any topic. This song just reinforces the vastness of his subect matter. Truly the best rock lyricist of the 20th century. A phenomenal sense of humor. Sometimes dark, but always makes you think about his words, and their meaning in his songs.

  • Zevon is right up there with Fats Waller and Zappa in terms of amazing lyricists.

  • If you read this as a poem youd be like WTF??? But with Warren's genius it's WOW!!!

  • Thanks for this rare posting! "..he called it Villa Gorilla..." RIP, Warren.

  • I LAUGHED LIKE HELL THE FIRST TIME I SAW HIM DO THIS IN PHILLY THE TOWER FOR EAST COAST PEOPLE WHO KNOW PHILLY AND nj

  • a really amazing unknown man

  • This guy and Frank Zappa, they could make any lyric work, however weird the wordings may be! Great song! Thank you.

  • post Are You Real or Not next

  • Music didn't die with Buddy Holly, it died with Zevon. Listen to this song, I mean pure genius.

  • @someheart1 u are so right

    rock on man

its people like u who make the world go round unlike people who like stupid things like justin beiber whos words cant even be called lyrics and dont have any mening

zevon really had some feelin behind the druds and beer

  • A very addictive little song like all of Warren Zevon's music it just sticks in your mind.

  • These lyrics are so great and funny

  • ...now I hear he's gettin divorced, layin low at Lamatage... of course! Pure genious, we miss ya Warren

    5 stars + more!

  • should be a full 5 star, peace

  • Sorry my apartment's a mess... epic.

  • Thank you. If this song weren't here, it would feel like a missing tooth.

  • There will never be another like WZ.

  • Warren Zevon - Genius. Still sadly missed.

  • If you told me someone wrote a really good song about a gorilla in a zoo, I would say "yah, right, no way!" Then you tell me it was Zevon, and I would say, Oh, well of course he did!!!!

So nice and sardonic, I can't get enough of it!

  • @whyitsfunny Warren has to be the only guy to use the word brucellosis in a song.

  • @shumirules1 Please credit David Letterman for that quote...thank you...:)

  • @JustPlainDB You are right I did not forget to credit dave for it I didnt remember who said it, its a great line, has stuck in my mind for all these years.

  • I always find warren to break any creative block this helps

  • To say this song is addictive is an understatement. I first heard it in 1981 in the apartment below mine. I was a student at the time, and had quite a hang over. I knew it was Warren Zevon but that was all I knew. I never got to ask my neighbor what the song was called. Over the next 28 years I searched high and low for this song, with no luck, Until tonight. Thank you for the post, its now part of my "Favorites"!

  • Damn, this song IS very addictive. My nieces love this song and video post. Cheers for this. Any Warren is appreciated greatly.

  • R.I.P Warren Zevon-he was great!

  • Well that's me

  • It takes a real musician to not take themselves too seriously and make fun and humorous songs such as this one. Mr. Zevon, you are greatly missed.

  • Such a great, all-time classic, spot-on satire, yet no-one's heard of it.

  • Song is addictive. Once you hear it stays in your head. Backing vocals by Don Henley and J.D. Souther are pretty good too.

  • I just stumbled upon this treasure. So cool.

  • Great tune + great lyrics! Everyone should check out Warren Zevon's other stuff on here - you won't be disappointed...

  • So i work at an Arby's and lately we have working with a lot of new guys and the new thing to do while we are closing is to put this song on repeat and seeing how long it takes for the new guy to freak out, its awesome, the one kid didn't even say anything just started singing along after like the 3rd or 4th time thru

  • hahahah very nice

  • Absolutely hilarious. Thanks for the post.

  • you were absolutely right...I loved this songs when I was a teen...long long time ago.. I was hoping to find a cover or a Warren live performance but I did not find...
