    I did some thing similar

  • cool very very cool..

  • Very good my brothers!!

  • Tabla is way better than any drum kit in the whole fucking world.

  • i think this is an incredible song, great job by's

  • And the carpet will start to fly..

    Great!

  • great song for man

  • Great song for me

  • Anyone know the tuning on this song?

  • @davidbowieswaffle its in the key of d. idk if you wanted to know about sitar tuning though

  • Damn I love the exotic sound of this instrument. Thanks for introducing to me this instrument George Harrison.

  • I wonder if The Beatles first composed this song on sitar. Sounds as though it could've been...just sayin'

  • @trashmachine85 John wrote the song on guitar, but he felt that it was missing something. George, who had recently started learning the sitar, then picked it up and found the notes. The Beatles had just written the first pop song to feature a sitar. I don't mean to be a know-it-all, but I hope you found that interesting.

  • @heyjude2704 I know I find it interesting!!! I love sitars!!!

  • @cbof93 I think they're called Tablas.

  • @mdayalan yes they are tablas...its an incredible hard instrument to play, mainly because it isn't played like djembe or congos (palms, slaps) it is played by using your fingers on the right to produce the raga notes da ra pa etc...and your left hand uses precise taps to produce the wonderful bass echo effect...it requires precision, timing, and extreme patience...I feel it was easier to learn sitar than it was (for me at least) to play tablas.

  • very nice job guys...leave alone the idiots idiotic comments...

  • lovin it. carpet jamm

  • does anyone have a how to play norwegian wood on sitar video? Not to say this isnt awesome.

  • this is amazing. i'm learning the guitar right now. i eventually want to learn the sitar

  • Nice. Thanks for the post.

  • kool i like it alot nice cover guys

  • Why is it called "norwegian wood"?

  • "norwegian wood" is a name for a cheap pine wood from norway used in cheap apartements, and the song is about an affair in an apartment and at the end the guy lights the norwegian wood on fire

  • correct

  • also it is a word play for "knowing she would", i read that somewhere on the net, dont know if it is true

  • its a beatles song.

  • -_-

  • is this played in C major?

  • In the oringial version by The BEatles is in E Major but in some performances is in D Major.

  • beatles play it in D major but with the capo on 2nd fret...

  • @aaxal which makes it in Emaj

  • gryffindor863 : ye, sry, i don't know the rules of transforming etc :)

  • within you without you.....magnifique...

  • "All mushrooms are edible, but some only once."

    -- Croatian Proverb

  • @PIYUSH1188 is that talking about deadly mushrooms or just tripping balls on shrooms?

  • really nice

  • really good performance !!

  • my favorite cover of this song is by Victor Wooten.

  • Those are tabla. They are a traditional drum in India, and have that great tone. They take YEARS to learn to play. Not to master, to learn to make decent and consistent tones on.

These two musicians are obviously very good.

  • I love Sitar!!!thank you God that this kind of instrument made people happy and relax..where can I learn this ..Iam live in Hatyai ,Thailand .I love it ..so much ..uh.great..

    Boothip .Hatyai ,Songkla .Thailand.

  • those are called tabla.

  • anybody know what kind of drums those are?

    or whats special about them

  • they're called tabla, they are the most difficult drums you will ever learn to play. They have over a hundred ways to make different sounds and rhythms.

    special enough for ya ;)

  • they are special because you can create an incredible range of tones and bend them by using the expandable black pads in the center of the drumhead

  • i want one george harrison fan at age eleven!

  • @bigCGM I am 11 and I'm a gigantic beatles fanatic all together

  • How many strings does a sitar have?

I think they are amazing just started to listen to them

  • some have 18, others have 7. the 18 stringed ones have 11 sympathetic strings and the seven strummign strings just like any other sitar.

  • 10,4 more than guitars,takes 5 years to master,mastering 2 strings a year

  • Where can I get a sitar?

    5 stars!!!!!!!!!

  • If you want a good one, then India haha..

  • you can go on ebay and get a good starter one and then save up for a realy nice one and get one from india

  • you can get one for like 500 from india just do a little research

  • I got my first one on Ebay

  • Thanks for sharing with me flybreath - Maureen could sure do "Her Thang" to this lol

  • beautiful!

  • gimme some more tabla!!

  • where did you get the music for this song, ive been trying to figure it out just messing around on my sitar, but i cant get it.

and to get an alright sitar you dont need to shell out major bucks, although im sure the one in the video wasnt cheap

  • Here's a tip if you cant get this - try and watch his hands movements. It will give you an indication of what notes he is playing.

Did you know that a lot of beatles songs were based on ragas? Like 'Jealous Guy', is direct rendition of raga Bhopali.

  • Amazing !!!!! Just beautiful !!! Thanks for the share redbaron !!!!

  • is the sitar also playing the bass line?

I hear it but it doesn't look like he is plucking it out

(I don't know anything about sitars)

  • the bass line isnt a bass line i think ur refferring to the thudding sound from the bongo

  • beautiful!

  • love its sound

  • so can someone correctly write out this melody whether it be in indian or wester notation? thank you in advance very much

  • In the original, the last G in the main melody is not flat, as here. Otherwise, very good playing.

  • muy bien pollos

  • GOD how cool!!!!!!

  • The sitar sounds so magical. Where do you get one and how much are they usually?

  • If you search on Google or whatever, you can find some sites fairly easily. A "student" sitar costs upward from $500.

  • it most certainly does sound magical! as for where to buy it, i would look for any instrument shops that deal largely in ethnic instruments such as bozoukis, banjos, lutes etc. depending on which part of the world you live in. I'm getting one soon and the one i'm buying costs approximately $750.

  • the sitar is a magical device

  • Very nice work gentleman. Best instrumental version of this I have seen/heard on YouTube

  • could you PLEASE post a video on how to play this?!?! i recently bought a sitar and would LOVE to play this!!! you are AMAZING!!!

  • what tuning are the first 7 strings on??

  • The depends on whether he is using Grandhar Pancham, Kharaj Pancham, or traditional tuning.

  • This definitely deserves more views than it is currently getting.

  • Great job, Lennon and Harrison would be proud.

  • Sounds really good

  • kyabate now i heard your playing and you are good start working on gamaks in all of your playing and your guru is gret takeadv antage of it
