@TheGreatBunghole16 Not in the initial scan of AP's. But (and this is speculation) I believe you could see when people attempt to connect. Just as you can see their MAC address, you could see the SSID or BSSID they are pointing to. So it's possible, but it would make it harder to target.
If I believed I could be in the presence of such a network, I would scan for a few days, filter out duplicate SSID's or BSSID's, then I have a very good idea of all the networks in the vicinity.
@TheGreatBunghole16 A router needs to have up and down communication. Broadcasting the SSID is only a down part. It has no control of network adapters attempting to connect up to it. I would think a unique reference must be made. Otherwise how would the router know which packets were destined to it?
I may be wrong. You would have to use a tool like this or Wireshark to prove it But I think you'll see an SSID or a BSSID. Something that you can go on. Then just keep going at it.
If you don't crack it then, no you can't get it. It's encrypted cracking it is decrypting it. There's no way around it you need the key. You can get it from other methods, but unless someone who knows it gives it to you in some fashion you must crack it.
Definetely! Sometimes you just need to pound those keys to get that shit working. You can't always be easy with it. Same goes with coding, and really any type of input.
Yo, nice video. I still have a question though. I spoofed my MAC to gain access to the wifi network, but it is kicking off my friend with the same mac. I set myself a static IP and there still seems to be conflicts. Is it because of the routers DHCP?
@strongnoob Even if the IP addresses of two machines are different, you still cannot have two machines on a single WiFi network using the same MAC. Every machine must have a different MAC.
If one computer is already using a given MAC address, and then another computer comes along and tries to use the same MAC, then there will be a conflict, and one of them (or both) is going to end up unusable until the other one goes away.
Well you have too look up you ip information and see if your getting a valid ip address. Type ipconfig. It should look the same as your router except for the last byte. I'm not sure if any mac address is valid which might result in weird ip addressing or it not working at all since all information is sent by mac address from you to your gateway.
hey great vid! I've been using a network that has mac filtering on using this technique but lately i get into the network(bars are full on airport) but It won't load web pages. Is there additional mac filtering options that are in place now? Can I get around this? thanks for your help.
It could possibly be more than just connecting to the network that the mac address is used for. For example, my school uses a RARP server to assign IP addresses based on a mac address, and you can connect just fine with any MAC address, but unless if you have designated MAC addresses the RARP server will not assign IP that you can get a useful connection with.
hey man good vid I was wondering about mac addy filters. I didn't even think that kismet/kismac showed the mac addresses guess I was a little hasty when I was learning all the programs.
To the people hating on this guy you probably should learn how to hack a WEP on your own before trying to do this. This is kinda simple concept but advanced at the same time because you should know the basics of programs such as kismet(linux) or kismac(mac) and know how to fake your mac address.
hey there, angry girl who yelled at you. I am not an idiot, I was indeed frustrated. Your video was helpful, however you should consider speaking whats on the screen because it really is too blurry.
All that I am doing is searching for mac addresses, it isnt too important to see a detailded list of the mac addresses. You dont even have to do it this way. It's just one program that shows network activity among other things. You should be able to do what I'm doing if you read the commands to change your mac address and find a program that allows you to view mac addresses of packets.
you suck so bad and your video is wayyyyy too fast. if you want to assist people you need to go slower and speak more and say what it is that you're typing because we are not all geektastic geniuses like YOU. fucker.
It sounds like your are and idiot and can follow a simple video and are getting frustrated. Calm down and maybe learn some more, you can't expect me to explain everything.
anyway to check what mac adresses are currently connected to an interface your mac address is not cleared for? what happens if you use a taken address?
men i need your help plis... when i start to scan the program say me this "A driver error occured with your USB device, make sure it is properly connected." and i don't know what i need to do .... i have a Macbook Pro 2.16 ghz intel core 2 duo plis tell me what i must do
LOL they have Windows XP Mac transformation packs... (I think you get beat up at school) and WITH the WinXP OS you can do diffrent file exstension runs... I have iPhoto on my Windows XP Computer and it works fine and i dont have a fancy fuckign 5 Thousand Dollar computer
A windows theme is not going to allow you to run mac os x applications. That is it you are being blocked you just keep saying things that are so god damn retarded. I feel sorry for you. You think you are some 1337 hacker and you have trouble understanding even the simplest things, yet somehow you are able to understand how things really work and take advantage of it.
Your retarded, if you do some research you would know that ".app" is really like an archive with different files in it just changing an extension wont let you do that as XP cannot read apple formated files
unless your on xp and using MacDrive that i beleave is the only way to run mac apps on windows
Youtube is apparently full of ungrateful fucks.

But will your program still find the network if the SSID isn't being broadcast???

the harder you hit your last keystroke the more better it works..the more hackery you be.
I can see you know these skills too..

does this work for windows 95?? and could you go a little slower...you lost me after something about a passive address...
kaotik084 3 years ago
No it doesn't *nix systems only, and maybe you should find out what a passive address is then you could continue on and not be lost.
timg455 3 years ago
...or maybe you could make a better video

Or maybe you can learn some basic things you can't expect me to explain everything.

you need to speak more of what you're typing. THE SCREEN IS TOO BLURRY TO SEE WHAT YOUR TERMINAL SAYS. IDIOT.
loafywedge 3 years ago
...as long as your network card supports passive move. Which means, you have to find a card/stick with the right chipset.

Did he just say a nix system?
thepcdude 4 years ago
Yes nix, as in a unix or unix based os like linux or os x.
timg455 4 years ago
Oh, cuz you just usually say unix. I know theres that slang *nix, but it still shud be said unix though i think. Sorry, just confused. lol.
thepcdude 4 years ago
But I don't mean unix, I mean unix or unix like, linux isn't unix.
timg455 3 years ago
GNU is Not Unix :-P.

err, ignore the first question. still kinda curious about the second.
rufsketch1 3 years ago
Well if you have two of the same macs then you may end up with ip addressing problems.
timg455 3 years ago
But you can also arp poison the other mac address causing a dos. That could probably fix any problems, caused by the client at least.

It's pretty simple, the only difficulty is that not all drivers/chipsests can support packet injecting.

Cool video, but you forgot the 'hw'... ★★★★★
As root(su -) it is actually:
ifconfig ath0 down hw ether 00:00:00:00:00:01
ifconfig ath0 up
I use this and other methods when in bookstores and/or cafés with internet access
