how about this, dance gavin dance is a like a liquid. now that liquid is in a glass, but now the glass gets a hole put in the bottom, the liquid ADAPTS to go through the glass. thats kind of what bands do, they adapt to their new members and begin writing as a complete new in some ways because everyone has their own style of playing.

corsets are cages started off with 6 original members. they still have 4 of them since high school. then they changed their name to emarosa because they lost the first chris and 2nd guitar twice. they lost 1 vocals and 1 guitar since being emarosa. thats not as bad as dgd. 4 out of 6 originals, 66.6% emarosa/corsets are cages. if dgd still had mess and eric, they'd be where emarosa is now. they only have 2, which is 33.3% dgd.

I'm not totally sure what to say to that, I'm not lying about Will's influence. He has carried the band since day one musically. I can't objectively say how much influence I had on WISIRO or DBM, you'd have to ask the guys. That doesn't mean I'm lying or sticking up for anyone.

Talk to me about the writing process for the new album.
We always write the music part before. I'm kind of like the main conceptualizer, if that's even a word, about what Dance Gavin Dance is going to be. I like to do the majority of the concepts based on what the music turns out to be and everyone else just adds on to that. I think me and Matt hold down the sound of the music, and whoever else is working with us just piles what they do on top of that, and it turns into our records.
I kinda agree with the kid that said old DGD is better than the new. Kurt is ok buy mesa cant scream for shit thats why hes gone. Jonny is amazing, Garren IS A LITTLE FUCKING BITCH. Why do you keep limiting dance gavin dance to one thing? The music's still good no? So the members now aren't DGD just because they didn't come up with the band in the first place, even though they're contributing to something so great? DGD shouldn't be limited like that, they should be able to expand on their musical abilities. Past members left for their own reasons, i think they would want their music to be carried on and loved how it was in the beginning.

corsets are cages started off with 6 original members. they still have 4 of them since high school. then they changed their name to emarosa because they lost the first chris and 2nd guitar twice. they lost 1 vocals and 1 guitar since being emarosa. thats not as bad as dgd. 4 out of 6 originals, 66.6% emarosa/corsets are cages. if dgd still had mess and eric, they'd be where emarosa is now. they only have 2, which is 33.3% dgd.

anyone who's interested can check out my new band, 'Consider the Thief', it's what I've been working on since I left DGD. As far as Downtown Battle Mountain is concerned, Will had more influence in some songs and vice versa, but we shared a lot of the responsibilities in writing that album. I believe Will (in that interview) is referencing the self-titled record.
As far as the rest of the drama surrounding all of this, I have no comment. check out my new band!

no, I would totally agree with will. homeboy is DGD, there's no doubt. I joined after a lot of the EP was written, I only helped with the Robot with Human Hair Songs and wrote a lot on DBM. Will is and always has been the driving force behind DGD for sure.
I just wanted to clear up that I DID NOT write DBM in it's entirety, it was a group effort and Will and I both wrote a lot of the guitars. My guess is Will had a lot more influence on the new record than DBM. peace.

I'm not totally sure what to say to that, I'm not lying about Will's influence. He has carried the band since day one musically. I can't objectively say how much influence I had on WISIRO or DBM, you'd have to ask the guys. That doesn't mean I'm lying or sticking up for anyone.

In my opinion I wrote quite a bit of DBM, however since I am no longer in the band I am not going to say anything that can be misconstrued as bragging or whatever. Like I said before, you'd have to ask the guys themselves. Plus, I only said we 'shared responsibilities', that's all.
as you said, the new album sounds completely different, so the fans can make their own judgment call on the matter.

emarosa had about 20,000 fans before jonny...they have more than 63,000 and its only been 9 months. Dgd's fanbase grew by 19,000? Emarosa was NOTHING w/out jonny and look at them now, they were even the myspace featured artist for a week. if jonny would have stuck w/ A Skylit Drive, they would be on MTV right now id bet my money

Old DGD fans know it, new DGD fans know it, even Emarosa fans know it. DGD pushes the envelope musically and write music that progresses both their sound and skill. Talk to me about the writing process for the new album.
We always write the music part before. I'm kind of like the main conceptualizer, if that's even a word, about what Dance Gavin Dance is going to be. I like to do the majority of the concepts based on what the music turns out to be and everyone else just adds on to that. I think me and Matt hold down the sound of the music, and whoever else is working with us just piles what they do on top of that, and it turns into our records.

how would you feel if you put so much emotion into a song that takes you along time to write just to be told it was about some other guy from the past. you would be pissed off ofcourse, the guys from emarosa should tell jonny to lay off they are very nice guys and ive talked to them on many occasions before about the freakin BIBLE because they are mostly all christians and shouldnt let jonny wear a shirt on stage with the F-word on his back. and jonny was infact a drug addict,hes still not clean

I agree. I've read some of the things he's written. Saying a lot of personal things about Jonny. He's an asshole, and he's obviously just bitter.
