We really can't blame Obama. He does not have the time to look at every government program. For NASA it is Norman Augustine he is the one to blame. He does not realize that every one dollar we put in to NASA we get 7 dollars back. NASA has also made so many useful inventions like seat belts bet a lot of people didn't know that. They have also made lots more like Smoke Detectors, Water Filters and Medical Imaging.
Why go to the moon? A shuttle full of Heium-3 could power america for 1-year, Rare Mineral Deposits could make fuel cells more affordable, It's the perfect site for a solar array (0 rainy days), Can do nano-technologies only possible in a vaccum and create factories to mass produce these technologies. That's just a short list, but anyhow, China can see the value; then aren't dumb. We need to move it or loose it.
We need a pro-space president in 2012. NASA is currently one of the least-funded of all federal agencies. The Department of Labor receives 10 times the funding, for example. Hopefully the new Congress to be elected in November will reverse this Obama character's decision to kill Constellation.
Astronauts Armstrong, Lovell, and Cernan recently testified before Congress that the current plan to kill Constellation is a huge mistake. Lovell and Cernan each flew to the Moon twice, Armstrong was of course first to walk on its surface, and Cernan the last. These guys know what they're talking about. Congress, you must restore and adequately fund the Constellation program !!
Hello, I really enjoyed this video of yours. Well put together, and well thought out. I really enjoyed learning about the Constellation Systems Program, I was really disappointed with President Obama when he announced that he wanted to cut the budget (cancel the program.) I am glad to say that they are still testing the Ares rockets. They just got through with the LAS on the Ares 1-Y (Very Successful.)
I support Obama on many issues, but this is one of them that I do not support. The American space program was one thing that the US could be proud of, and the world could agree to. But now it's being really falling back. I do agree with the private industry aspect, since that's when the cost can be really cut back on, but honestly...passing the torch to the private industry right now is like asking a student doctor to perform open heart surgery. They're just not ready yet!!
This Obama character's latest plan is to turn the Orion spacecraft into an ISS lifeboat -- who knows how it would get to the ISS! And then in the year 2015 he would make a decision on what kind of rocket to build to take humans to asteroids and Mars. What a bunch of gibberish. The Moon is the best place to resume practicing the art of spaceflight. Congress should revitalize and properly fund the Constellation program. Do we have any real leaders any more?
Simply amazing! I have 2 kids a 10 year old and a 9 year old, we live in Jacksonville. I can not tell you how many nights we have stayed up to see the rocket and/or shuttle launch and how much gas has been spent on trips down to KSC to see it in person. But I can tell you that the joy in my kids eyes, is worth all of it! We as a nation, should all be in support of this! This "man" has ashamed our country enough, why do we keep him in office? He should be the one with a TERMINATION NOTICE!
fantastic video! very excited to hear neil, jim, and eugene come out today and rip this "new plan" a new one... one can only hope that they don't go through with this cancellation.
Hi, I'm 16, and I would love nothing better than to have some great space program memories during my life. We need space, and spending $1.5 trillion a year on financing wars is not the way we should be going towards getting it. When I saw Ares 1-X, I was anticipating all kinds of amazing things which would happen during my life, and now, we have been let down because we have to pay for guns and obesity cures. It's as if anyone wanting to aspire to be an astronaut is deliberatley suppressed.
He is about to let the US manned space program fall behind Russia and China. In fact right when the shuttle is retired it will have already happened. Lets hope the US space program does not resemble the US auto industry some day. Very sad time to be an American.
I live in Merritt Island, home of Kennedy Space Center and what he is doing directly effects all of us here on the Island. Many of my friends' parents have lost their jobs or are going to soon. It is very upsetting that he has broken the promises he has made. As a president you are supposed to please the people of the nation. Not let them down and ruin their lives. Which is exactly what he is doing. Without NASA working full on, this Island is nothing
I hope we can get Constellation back. America needs a heavy lift launch vehicle. I don't care if we have to give up the ares I rocket but I want the Orion HLLV that was part of Constellation.
even though the private indus..is "better",you think you would at-least finish this..rather wasting all that money, energy, and man hours put in this thing......
To be fair, the future of spaceflight innovation ONLY has a chance in the private sector, with private sector funding. Governments alone cannot afford to do it any more.
Only if ALL the worlds space agencies pooled resources could they bring it off...which is what they should do..but wont, because of stupid national pride and blinkered ideologies.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think $9+ billion was already spent on Constellation. With the cancellation of the program we now loose most of that money. Even if we try to sell off the technology (which would be foolish at best) there is no way we're going to recoup ANY of that. So all of it has gone for nothing. "No act 2" means a hell of a lot more than just saving a few bucks.
With the shutdown of the Shuttle program and the cancellation of Constellation, America will no longer be a spacefaring nation. These are the sentiments of veteran astronaut Hoot Gibson, in testimony during a recent Congressional hearing.
Obama's so called plan has gone over like a lead balloon in congress. Many astronaut legends have spoken out against it. The American people will not be force fed a lesser NASA from the likes of Rahm Emanuel!
Obama is going to fail on this, NASA is nation defining agency and he is messing with the soul of the nation on this.
obama is mad that he cant be an astronaut so he takes the ability away from others.
this video is cool. i really enjoyed it. me and my father used to go out to KSC and watch the shuttle launch. i guess im lucky to be able to see it first hand. sucks that if i ever have kids they wont be able to watch shuttle launches because obama is going to take it away from everyone.
As Jay Barbree says, if Congress approves this Obama character's budget, America instantly becomes a 3rd rate space nation after Russia and China. Jay has covered every manned U.S. launch.
The Jupiter 246 that lifts the crew and Altair has 15+mT of spare margin that is not used because the EDS launched on the previous flight can't push it thru TLI. Thus, propellant is offloaded on the crew flight to improve the flight performance margin.
It is sustainable. Costs aren't calculated based upon the number of engines or components in an architecture, it is the integration of those components that is where the real impact of the costs lie.
Killing America's manned space program is simply un-American. What kind of "leader" would do this? I'm with Gene Cernan (last man to walk on the Moon) who said one penny out of a dollar is not too high a price to pay! Let's save Constellation!
NASA is the reason I want to study engineering. I want to be a part of this and I want it to be there when I finish school. It is Mankind's dream to be amongst the very stars themselves. We are almost there we can do just exactly that. Don't let this be taken from us, our ancestors, and the generations to come!
Moonliner is right -- it's not too late! Congress holds the purse strings. Flood Congress with messages of support for NASA's Moon program. I've already written to several members myself. American manned spaceflight is at stake.
@SuperMagnetizer Damn right it is! You know how many resources there are out there in space? Life on earth could be 10x better because of stuff that could be going on out there. It's all uncharted and is there for the taking.
most people say it wont happen if investments wernt made prior by gov.....
so why not have MANY governments..perhaps have all nations(excluding the poorest of poor),and put funds for the final bill, and have the infrastructure to do so.....
space elevators,equipment,and facility's in space
then have the private industry's pay back 3 times what was invested.........
also why not build a space elevator?
we could have governments pay us to launch nuclear waste into space!
It's not too late to save Constellation! Even though the President has proposed to cancel the program, Congress has the actual authority to decide this issue. Write to your Senator and Representative. Better yet, send a fax or make a phone call.
President Obama's decision to kill the U.S. government's manned space flight program and quash a planned mission to the moon ran into bipartisan opposition on Capitol Hill on Thursday.
One particularly poignant comment Obama made during the health care summit stunt was if they can't get an agreement "that's what elections are for"
Thats right Mr Obama! I'm looking forward to removing your administration the next go round! who ever runs against this guy should among other things as part of his/her campaign promise to reinstate the Aires program! I'm fairly neutral in my political beliefs but Mr Obama you and your administration are a real mess to say the least! Rob.
My 7 year old had the amazing experience of watching Ares out his school bus window. We then had him up for the last night launch at 4 a.m. Last night I pulled him out of bed to hear the sonic boom of Endeavour coming home. What an amazing thing for him to experience and learn about. Now we are taking that experience away and creating a world where uneducated humans who are good at throwing a ball will be employed while aerospace engineers will be out of work! How do I explain this to my son?
Change can only happen if we as a unit are willing to stand up and be counted, e-mail your Congressman and Senator tell them how you feel, let our voices be heard. Together I believe we can make a difference!!
I knew this traitor-in-chief was going to do this.
He's cut so many of our advanced programs like the F-22, missile defense, and now NASA.
If you want to see more that will boil your blood, the Air Force just mentioned that they were going to cut back 250 fighters from their inventory so they could buy new ones. Our Air Force is shirinking, our manned space program is threatened our advanced projects are going away. Asshole should be impreached and tried for treason.
It may be the vodka, but that actually made me tear up. Im a huge fan of NASA, and the moon effort, and it kills me that POTUS is doing this. Monday, Im writing my officials; thankfully some from my area, I live near JSC, have already voiced opposition to the cutbacks.
PS:
If I were you, I'd contact some of the other pro-science channels here; Thunderf00t, AronRa, Potholer, FFreethinker, and the like. If they havent already addressed it, they may like to :)
Going back to the Moon is the Right Choice. Our "offshore island" will become a vital part of the infrastructure for manned space exploration. Lunar Water can literally be dropped into Low Earth Orbit and split into liquid hydrogen and oxygen (the two best rocket propellants) by Solar energy. This way we can refuel any spacecraft in LEO. The hardest part of space travel is getting into LEO. The rest is easy, provided you have the infrastructure. Great video! Save Constellation!
Thank you very much for recognizing that. I'm not anti-president, and will give the office the respect in which it deserves. I'm just upset over the broken promise, and wanted to present a video that shows the hard work and progress that has been made on the program. I think the decision to cancel it was based on bad information that everything was "on paper" and no progress had been made. Thanks again!
Anyone hear about the 10 billion dollar task force obama set up to tell our kids to stop being fat. We want our space program. We want our colony. We want Helium-3. And we want constellation. What he doesn't understand is that science lowers cost. Right now in sweden they are extremely close to Nuclear Fusion that can save billions! Setting up a colony on the moon and sending back Helium-3 would be a great way to create energy.
That is a fantastic point! Bravo to you! Helium-3 is a resource that I think few understand, but could change the world if we can bring back large quantities of it. With so little on earth, this is a no brainer.
After all the crap Obama is trying to pass through this one really TICs me off it's like giving the middle finger to the aspiring youth of our country and the millions of americans curently employed on the Constellation program. I'm willing to bet that more people have been employed through subcontracts from NASA than... the his $750,000,000,000 "Stimulus". He might as well go ahead and pee on JFKs grave and the all the youth that were inspired by Moon landings and shuttle program.
Let's just hope that we don't lose too much talent and technology in the next three years - I'm confident that the next administration will have more imagination and long-range vision, and save America's Human Spaceflight program !!
1st - Such a slick vid, it is easy to miss the message IMHO......
2nd - Yes obviously be damed if we do n be damed if we don't....
To bad both the management of our once great nation and the pure bottom line capitalists only interested in the share holders money/vote and there bonus have given the jobs to the low bidders off shore, thus our tax base has great difficulty keeping the roads and bridges repaired much less enough tax money to fund a space program........ Sure hope I am wrong.....
JFK defeated Nixon and challenged us to go to the moon. Nixon kept that challenge. Bush wanted to go back to the moon and Mars. Obama has tossed that aside, all you Bush bashers got what you wished for.
"Robotic missions are much cheaper and may provide more scientific information, but they don't catch the public imagination in the same way, and they don't spread the human race into space, which I'm arguing should be our long-term strategy."
Stephen Hawking, Cambridge University
Hawking is right, and Obama is wrong. We don't want more 'data' on Mars, we want colonies on Mars
Michael Griffin, who resigned as NASA chief when Obama took office "It's a mistake of historic proportions,"
Hawking is right, but so is Obama. When we get to the level of having a team ready to take off withing an hour of emergency call from Moon, get there before the oxygen supplies run out (at least), and being able to evacuate everyone, and that team is available 24/7, then we can build an International Base on Moon. Until that day arrives we send bots instead.
Great production & thanks for putting this together. DON'T 4GET to sign the letter to your representatives (click top right under MORE INFO) & tell all ur friends.
Sadly, I cant believe he is trying to cut 9 billion dollars in funding for nasa, when they gave out 700 billion to banks, so obviously space exploration is less important than thier political power base. i guess the future isnt in space its in the corp and government masters who want to keep our nation ignorant, super powers have space programs 3rd world counties cant afford them at the helm of these crooks America is going to be 3rd world in 50 years.
i have always been more geared towards the aeronautical aspect of aerospace engineering... but i flat dont think the space program should be cancelled. this is bull crap we need to stop it!
I've have until recently had great confidence and belief in President Obama. It pains me to say this but as a a UK citizen the world looks to the US to lead on exploration and I for one was so excited about this programme.
Vladimir Nabokov quotes Treading the soil of the moon, palpitating its pebbles, tasting the panic and splendor of the event, feeling in the pit of one's stomach the separation from terra - these form the most romantic sensation an explorer has ever known Amen
What's a same! Can't find a reason why they think that the private sectors (the ones just received hundred of billions bailed out dollars) are up for the job now. I agree that eventually, everything has to be commercialized, but NOT at this point, since there is yet profit to be made in space. Mark my words, with this plan, the private companies will suck dry all the $ without producing anything. When we all wake up from this night mare, we'll find ourselves way behind China in this fontier.
What Planet is Obama from.......Giving more of America away and trying to make us a lower class country...second and third in line...he has done this with more than just what he is trying to do to our Space Program. I am very sad and very scared. Please, send this to everyone you know...get the word out...
Obama is the anti-JFK. It will now be a decade before the US has any manned space program. Even in 1965 we could send men into space. Thanks for this change Obama. After a half century America has given up its space program.
That is exactly what needs to happen, everyone who doesn't want to see the program which brought forth the greatest adventure in human history gutted and turned into a joke MUST SPEAK OUT! Perhaps the heros of Apollo could head up a protest to which everyone can lend their voices.
I am watching the Administrator's press conference and his view is sickening. This is just another giveaway to the private sector along the lines of outsourcing intelligence gathering, security operations, and other activities formerly under the domain of government. I can assure you there were backroom deals in this this mess just like with health care. And then he states if other nation's take the lead it doesn't matter. BS
Hopefully Congress can stop this gutting of our space program!
I urge you all to contact your representatives to ask them to fight the decision to cancel Constellation. It is critically important for the United States to remain a leader in space operations.
NASA has always been at the heart of inspiration for America and even the rest of the world. Completing this mission will serve to propel the leadership in science that Obama seeks for generations to come. This is what dreams are made of.
It is astounding that Obama 2011 budget came out and none of the NASA center directors have any idea what is going on or what the impact at their own centers will be. Glenns director, Woodrow Whitlow Jr. is looking down the barrel of a 13% funding cut for his center but also says he has no idea what lies ahead! Are they just making this all up as they go? It sounds like a small circle of people came up with this plan in total isolation. Save Constellation and give it adequate funding!
From your profile I see that you are 19 years old. It is gratifying to see young adults like yourself who are inspired by the space program and clearly appreciate its importance. I am a 54 year old surgeon and can remember as if it was only yesterday the giddy feeling that many of us felt during the heady days of Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. Most Americans back then expected to have colonies on the Moon and Mars as well as established communities in B/LEO by 2010. How sad it didn't come to pass.
Thank you for the comment! Guess I need to update my profile, I'm actually 26 now. :) At 19 I was dreaming of working for the manned space program, and since graduating college I have been a part of it.
Great video... Cx is the best way for America to get to LEO and beyond. I wish he would have listen to Bo instead of his other "advisors" - what to see who he listen to? Check out the video on my page and pass it on!!
Thanks for the ones that are not here to speak and are the reason we have made it this far. I will be sure and cover the State of Alaska to get this out.....Again Thanks and it is a start. 4...3...2...1....go..
Working Config Mgt for Solid Rocket Boosters on Constellation is that you will deal with speculation and questioning until you reach the final goal (Ares 1-X). Then, you compile all the data and use it as a data point. I believe this video nailed it all dead on. "A non-doer is very often a critic-that is, someone who sits back and watches doers, and then waxes philosophically about how the doers are doing. It's easy to be a critic, but being a doer requires effort, risk, and change." Dr Dyer
Anytime! I was the software configuration analyst for test operations as KSC for the aft skirt hot fire test. This has all been VERY heartbreatking for us in SRM CM that got to see that beautiful rocket fly so perfectly!
don't worry everyone. the great peoples republic of china will take the initiative and take the lead in space exploration. get over it. its inevitable. do not resist.
While other nations try to advance in manned flight we give it up? China plans to land a man on the Moon and even later Mars (Then will really will be the Red planet - Owned by China - No Americas allowed). Maybe if we beg in the future the Russians and Chinese may let us go back into space once in a while, after all its now their territory, No US future in space anymore.
They are not funding the private part enough to get a reliable craft. After a few flights on the cheap one will blow up.
This is our last frontier. Exploring is what we do. Are we going to let another country lead this technology? I support all of you at the Cape, on the Shuttle and Constellation programs. I cannot believe we are going to give this up. What a mistake...... Good luck to you all!
Why is anyone suprised by what this President has done...promises made during his campaign, broken once he took office and with Mr. Bolden taking over the helm at NASA, I am not suprised that he (Bolden) laid over and let Obama run rough shod over this agency. Bolden was cjosen with this in mind. To Obama, NASA is an agency, who's budget can be better spent elsewhere. Yep, increase their budget so they can study the phony problem of global warming.
The reaction portends an uphill fight for the Obama Administration, partly due to sentiment on Capitol Hill that it failed to consult members before unveiling such a dramatic shift in direction
In an interview Tuesday, NASA's chief administrator, Charles Bolden, accepted part of the blame. "I could have done a better job of communicating" with Congress, he said. "I will take the hit for that."
From WSJ today, it's going over like a lead balloon folks!!!
NASA's proposed budget "essentially decimates America's human space-flight capacity," said Democratic Rep. Donna Edwards of Maryland
Rep, Ralph Hall of Texas, the ranking Republican on the full Science and Technology Committee, said "it is naïve to assume that a do-over will somehow deliver a safer, cheaper system faster than the current path we are on."
Thank you so much for putting together and posting this. It it amazing and appreciated. Even made me weepy. I support Constellation and and I am extremely sad to see it go :( It's been a sad and tough week. ~ DFRC ESMD/SOMD support contractor
The government has billions of dollars to spend on failed car companies, banks, and insurance companies. The space program the one of the few things we are good at. If Obama's going to support math, science, and education, it doesn't make sense to terminate this program.
actually i read that obama has plans to increase nasas budget but he is "sending them in a different direction" as he put it.
he wants them to privatize the space industry and focus more on un-manned robotic missions for space exploration as apposed to manned missions wich are far more costly because robots dont require food and water and exercise they dont require as much attention or money to keep them going.
its really a smart move scraping the constellation mission if he does what he says
I liked the video but I don't think you should justify continuing the program in order to keep jobs... that's one of the reasons our local, state, and federal governments are so bloated and inefficient. That said, it is extremely important for our nation to strive, explore, and develop and when our citizens lose those personal goals then we are really in trouble. That is where leadership at the top counts and unfortunately President Obama doesn't have it. So... save Constellation.
Constellation's mission was "exploration." Apollo landed on the moon 6 times and explored virtually nothing of the moon's surface. Who knows what else is waiting to be discovered?
The hardware of the program was derived from proven Shuttle components to keep costs to a minimum and based on Apollo designs because those were and still are the most energy and cost efficient solutions for a landing on the moon.
The program would attract more science and engineering majors and inspire today's kids.
Obama is using the program as a pawn. He ommited it from the budget so that all of those districts in which scrapping the project would be devastating, will capitulate to whatever crap he has in his multi-trillion dollar budget. He is evil and coniving. Are you happy now that you voted for him?
This is what we should do. Russians and Americans team up to go back to the Moon. Let Russia ferry crews into LEO, dock with an American Lunar Lander, and go. Let other countries take part as well, as they have done on ISS. Share both the cost and the glory. Also develop advanced spaceplanes with maglev horizontal takeoff. Stay positve and focused. We can do it ! !
Without our own Nations rockets to reach it, we effectively give away our International Space Station to whoever can travel to it, as well as the moon, the mars and what lies beyond. Canceling Constellation is not just about the end of a program, its about the end of our nation.
you might have as well said: "Punish those who achieve. Punish them until they die. Punish achievers until the until there is no incentive for anyone to be productive in this world." That's basically the sentiment that conveyed by this comment. Its detestable and evil.
EVIL? I don't think you really understand that word. Words mean things. I agree that it's detestable, but it's FAR from the level that evil represents.
Cancelling this program is terrible idea. This is one of the few areas in America where pure scientific and industrial progress is achieved. There are approximately 2500 scientists and engineers directly working on the Constelation program today. When the Space Shuttle ends in about 14 months, another 3-4 thousand will be without a viable project. The country needs national efforts that are for the good of the country. We can't all work in service related jobs at the local coffee shop.
Apollo on steroids may have been a bad choice of words but Constellation is definitly a step forward. The ISS is a mission to nowhere if you ask me. We need clear goals and real destinations with the funding to support it. NASA still gets the best return on every taxpayer dollar that is put in compared with other government agencies.
I really don't understand how people can say that travelling to the moon is a bigger waste than war. If NASA got anywhere near the amount that is being spent on war we'd be on our way to the nearest exo-planet by now. The changes that are being proposed by Obama will harm US manned spaceflight for decades, cutting off our OWN access to space. Like JFK said: "This country was not build by those who waited and rested and wished to look behind them"
Like I mentioned before...a bail out of AIG with 180 billions dollars and the same people who propagated this recession are still there...and still show no tangible results of their existense. Take NASA and its pultry 18 billion dollar budget and we have over 1000 patents that are used on a daily basis that affect our lives and our senses. With that being said....if you work at KSC, like I do, and you are one of the few that put Obama in office...how does it feel to vote yourself out of a job??
In the area I live, there are over 2000 people who work are employed by the Constellation program. It would/will be a tragedy if/when this program is killed.
I am not an American but if I had to say space exploration should not be stopped at any cost. Stopping any project which is promissing is not worth anything.
i think its right to stop the funding for now.... but i dont think its being done for the reasons expressed by obama...i think theres stuff out there they dont want us to know about. if he wants to save money he should also look into the stupid climate change lies.... we in britain have just had our coldest and biggest snowfall in decades, global warming is a con. as was the swine flu outbreak that pharmacuticals made billions off ... that hasnt been used.
I find it sad how NASA has to resort to public relations to keep the program running. Our scientific endeavors should remain funded, the advancement of humankind should be on our list of priorities as a species instead of trying to convince our society that it should be.
It's not just America's future but potentially the future of mankind, but I do want America to lead that future.

We need a pro-space president in 2012. NASA is currently one of the least-funded of all federal agencies. The Department of Labor receives 10 times the funding, for example. Hopefully the new Congress to be elected in November will reverse this Obama character's decision to kill Constellation.

It is very upsetting that he has broken the promises he has made. As a president you are supposed to please the people of the nation. Not let them down and ruin their lives. Which is exactly what he is doing. Without NASA working full on, this Island is nothing

@Bromopar Plus the fact that we will have to pay huge penalties for cancellation of contracts, adding up to several billion.

With the shutdown of the Shuttle program and the cancellation of Constellation, America will no longer be a spacefaring nation. These are the sentiments of veteran astronaut Hoot Gibson, in testimony during a recent Congressional hearing.

I wonder what he will say at the 'space summit' in April? More Muslim empowerment, less American exceptionalism?
Will Bolden again claim that given an unlimited budget and 10 years he couldn't put a man on Mars? So much for the can-do attitude.
Where's the spirit of the Apollo era. Don't these smucks realise that Apollo actually help pull America out of recession?

The Jupiter 246 that lifts the crew and Altair has 15+mT of spare margin that is not used because the EDS launched on the previous flight can't push it thru TLI. Thus, propellant is offloaded on the crew flight to improve the flight performance margin.
It is sustainable. Costs aren't calculated based upon the number of engines or components in an architecture, it is the integration of those components that is where the real impact of the costs lie.

so why not have MANY governments..perhaps have all nations(excluding the poorest of poor),and put funds for the final bill, and have the infrastructure to do so.....
space elevators,equipment,and facility's in space
then have the private industry's pay back 3 times what was invested.........
also why not build a space elevator?
we could have governments pay us to launch nuclear waste into space!

By the end of this year, there will be no shuttle, no U.S. manned space program, no way for us to get into space.
Obama's NASA budget perfectly captures the difference in spirit between Kennedy's liberalism and Obama's.
Kennedy's was an expansive, bold, outward-looking summons. Obama's is a constricted, inward-looking call to retreat.
Fifty years ago, Kennedy opened the New Frontier. Obama has just shut it.

SuperMagnetizer 1 year ago
The problem is there no clear "Grand Plan" that the public can get excited about. The moon been there done that.
Hindsight being 20/20, we should of kept and built on the Apollo program rather then the Shuttle and ISS $250 billion.
Imagine what the Apollo techonolgy would of evolved into 40 years latter, with $250 billion. At a minimum we're talking about a moon base if not Mars.
Even if Constellation happens it really only gets us back to 1969 as far as capability.

"I will take the hit for that."

actually i read that obama has plans to increase nasas budget but he is "sending them in a different direction" as he put it.
he wants them to privatize the space industry and focus more on un-manned robotic missions for space exploration as apposed to manned missions wich are far more costly because robots dont require food and water and exercise they dont require as much attention or money to keep them going.
its really a smart move scraping the constellation mission if he does what he says

That said, it is extremely important for our nation to strive, explore, and develop and when our citizens lose those personal goals then we are really in trouble. That is where leadership at the top counts and unfortunately President Obama doesn't have it. So... save Constellation.
davidbalexander 2 years ago

SuperMagnetizer 2 years ago
Without our own Nations rockets to reach it, we effectively give away our International Space Station to whoever can travel to it, as well as the moon, the mars and what lies beyond. Canceling Constellation is not just about the end of a program, its about the end of our nation.

Worst news ever......why not tax the rich instead..tax them till they bleed ..those pigs can take some taxation to keep the program alive..

you might have as well said: "Punish those who achieve. Punish them until they die. Punish achievers until the until there is no incentive for anyone to be productive in this world." That's basically the sentiment that conveyed by this comment. Its detestable and evil.

@ryaneGT Who might have well said what now?

CEVOrion 2 years ago

NASA is going to die, the military industrial complex will live on. Nobody will do anything.

Top scientists and engineers gonna be jobless. Great plan! Give jobs to average Joe and fire some of the great geniuses....

I find it sad how NASA has to resort to public relations to keep the program running. Our scientific endeavors should remain funded, the advancement of humankind should be on our list of priorities as a species instead of trying to convince our society that it should be.

NASA, nor its contractors, had nothing to do with this video. This was a personal thing I put together because I am passionate about it.
