5a is what you see JonRob doing on this vid (Yo-Yoing with a counterweight attached to the string.)

4a is when the yo-yo isn't connected to the string. (off-string yo-yoing)

5A is freehand where the yoyo isnt attached to your hand, your using or holding a counterweight which you can use for stuff on the yoyo

4a is where the yoyo is off the string and you can throw it up and whip catch it in the air and stuff.
