It did slide sideways for a considerable distance I think might have completely stopped. For some reason the throttle still seem to be wide open, I do not know if it was part of the test or if the pilot forgot to do a shutdown. He may have been concerned about getting hit by the fuel tankand forgot about the throttle.
Doesn't really matter what Bush flew, it just struck me as funny that this might have been an example of Bush's abilities. The plane in the montage is an F 104 Starfighter. Not sure Bush could handle this hot little fighter.
Like flyboyII the plane had a high center of gravity and the arrestor gear/net was jammed into gear, it looks like after the plane change direction that the force on the gear was mainly only on one side. It looks like a got a little bit of a running start after reversing directions and about the same time it ran off the edge of the runway the arrestor gear snagged on one side of the landing gear. It looks like it was a combination of several factors.

I think the "the challenge of flight" videos were released after the government lower it's standers on the freedom of information act. I think I got mine just before the government lowered its standards.
