It was released. I paid to watch in Columbus, MS. It was ok, but with his passing so fresh on our minds, it was hard to see anyone portraying Bryant in a movie.

You're right however that after it's (short) theatrical run, the Bryant family bought the rights, due to their unhappiness with the final product, and that's why it has never been released to video/DVD. Oh yeah, and Gary Busey was drunk through the whole shoot, and the movie was horrible!

Guys, just cut the barners loose. They spend most of their time flaming Bama forums and watching Bama videos. You have to have some sort of tradition in order to be able to respect tradition, or a man like Coach Bryant. I guarantee you every one of these barners know more about Coach Bryant than they do Coach Jordan (whom I also have a lot of respect for). It is just sad for their own team.
So...Bear Bryant has been immortalized on film at least 3 times, in "The Bear", "Forrest Gump" and "Junction Boys". There are others, I'm sure. Not to mention the great scenes from "Crimson Tide". The Bear is the greatest! He gave the state of Alabama so much to be proud of! Roll Tide!
