suppose napoleon's marriage was in fact a happy one. i think one can tell by the fact provided in this video that it was napoleon who proposed to her at a time when he was still not the prominent napoleon as we know he would become. the fact that he chose her by his own will instead of let's say some rich courtesan trying to marry napoleon the emperor makes a world of difference because from now on no matter how high napoleon gets josephine would be forever be the one napoleon sought after
I am an American and I hate the rep we have as being "stupid" and believe me most of them are. The Man only teaches us what they want us to know. The few of us who actually want to know have to go to other measures. Sometimes I wish I was European :(
@kindthrone if i was a powerful leader i would never marry, just run around doing every hot woman till my penis falls off! or atleast choose a better woman
Doesn't matter the American Revolution would have never been possible if it wasn't for French aid that bought all the cannons and gunpowders and extra troops for the colonists
the woman at 02:28 has the most annoying screeching banshee-like wailing voice I have ever heard. Napoleon is great though, and the narrator is passionate when he speaks.
@SUpersaiyajinjerkbag the ideas that made american revolution possible were inspired in the ideas of Voltaire, Rousseau, and others, who happen to be french
@JonathanDLynch of course iam not saying that 100% of American opinions are uninformed , iam only exaggerating cause most of biased opinions on my videos are American ones.
@CaptainFluffy6644 You can single out Americans as many times as you want but the truth of the matter is that the majority of the worlds population are handicapped of intelligence.
Napoleon was a true GENIUS and when not involved on military campaign he often had his nose buried in books. He once told his foreign advisor Talleyrand that the only thing he truley feared was "stupidity." He smartly took advantage of many rich officers being executed during the French Revolution (which took its cue from the success of the American Revolution a few years earlier). He was a true believer in the Revolutionary ideals & saw his taking control as preventing the "return of kings!"
He "started off" as one, however he lost faith in the corrupt men who were in charge of France's new democracy & justified his taking of power because of this. However, like many leaders before him, once he had unlimited power, he stopped listening to the advice of those around him, & his ego really began to take over! Sadly, this is often the case with many of history's greatest men. So your right, in the end, he was not a democrat, eventhough he began as one. He was still awesome though!
The difference between great and small men is that great men know that power is relevant to ability and genius, thats why there were no democratic philosophers thats why great men never believed in the rule of the mass
You're right, ability & genius do create power, however power is not dependent on those qualities. If that were the case, we would have a lot of great men today & we don't. Unfortunately, power today is held by the international financial elites & their connections. Of course Napoleon didn't want the ignorant masses to run the government! He was trying to be an example of Plato's "benevolent philosopher- king" who controls a nation while also protecting the rights of individual "citizens."
You're right, its ashame there aren't any true geniuses like Alexander, Caesar or Napoleon around nowadays. Unfortunately with modern technology, such men would have the power to enslave or snuff out the entire planet on a whim. Its irrelavent anyway, the men with "the money"(the true power holders nowadays) want mediocre leaders not geniuses, this way the "status-quo" isn't upset & their money & influence is always safe!
Napoleon was the man of destiny 100 years of his time. That was a great leader and making his own luck not like a wiseman. The FACT is Napoleon came from nothing and changed the world for the better he done so many GREAT things
26 and a general, no wonder we don't have any bright leaders nowadays, you can't have any influential position until you are odl an tired, and oyu have to obey the "system" which forbides any big changes.
Little bastard was the precursor to Hitler! Ask the Haitians what he thought of liberty.

I recently found out that this was not the case. I could be wrong, but I think it was Napoleons incompetent generals who were mistreating Haitians.

Why would it be ridiculous for an American to comment on Europe?
Do you imagine that 100% of Americans have uninformed opinions? Surely you can see the problem with such hasty generalizations.

@JonathanDLynch no one wishes americans are stupid
everyone would be absolutely thrilled to know the world's biggest superpower was a country of intelligence
alas, many of us have been disappointed so often that we have simply given up any hope of stumbling across intelligent americans
forgive us for generalizing, but the world is simply too immoralized
