man, car may be a piece of shit, but mine still runs like a top. 1988 pontiac lemans 1.6L 4cyl. bigest repair to date: the water pump went out in 2000.
my friend had one of these "things". it was a piece of shit. not a real GM car. if it has a pontiac, chevy, buick, or GMC emblem on it, it damn well better be American.
Yanno..., I knew about 3 people back home in my hometown who's sister had one of these, lol. Out of the 3, only one of the sisters still has hers and she bought brand new in 1988. Apparently she's had no car trouble outta of it at all and loves that car to death since the day she bought it. I believe hers has around 325,000 miles on it and it still runs like new. All I can say is..., you go gurl!
my coworker for some odd reason had one of these... a car was never something she spent money on (unlike every other person working there). it was the biggest POS on earth, you could hear her coming before you saw her.
holy crap,,i posted 2 years ago when i had 270,000 miles on mine,,i still have it,runs great, still on the 2nd clutch,3rd set of tires,bu tthe paint is wearing away.i have 273000 miles on it now,as i dont have the need to travel far and guess what,,my 9' surfboard easily fit in this car.i laugh at all the people who spend,30,40,50k on cars, suvs.this car still gets 35mpg and handles corners and accelerates great when going on the freeway for a 4 speed.try to find one for sale! very hard, goldmine!
Well I OWN one of these "POS" cars. And for me IT IS NOT A "POS" CAR!!! like 7FP3 said "..., it was really an inexpensive car to travel from point A to B." It really is I use my Le Mans LE for delivering pizzas and hey at least I do not have to "gas up" every day before going to work.
In Europe this car was called Opel Kadett. It's a legend. It was a very cheap and fiability car. I owned a 1.6 LS 80 HP from 1988 to 1994. I put more than 200,000 km to it (130,000 milles) and I sold it to a friend who still has it today. He gave it to his son (when he got his driver license) and this car has 380,000 km today. It has never had any problem.
Oh dear Lord. I owned this POS car from 1988 to 1992 racking up 83000 trouble plagued miles. I cried tears of joy when I was able to trade it in on a 1992 Probe. I did have a lot of good times in this car, lotta good (and bad) memories. R.I.P. Blue LeMans.
I'm sure this car has it's own qualities as a subcompact, but I find it disgraceful that Pontiac chose to put the legendary LeMans name on it. My cousin had a '73 LeMans that would've devoured this car like a Scooby snack.
Probably, but I owned a Lemans from 1994 to 2000 and put 300 000km to it. Beside the usual wear like changing oil, coolant, tire, timing belt, brakes and mufflers, it was really an inexpensive car to travel from point A to B. I never changed the clutch nor the engine. Most of my travels was on country side road where there was a lot of steep hill and where the roads were really damaged. Funny to drive, giving a good ride and a good handling for the price paid. I really miss it.
I apologize for badmouthing this car. Honestly I think it was a great seller for the college student, young adult, etc. I guess it was exciting in its own way.
Wow, it wrap up everything I would have said! Lol. Thanks. By the way, for a little car, I still remember that it was very roomy, I'm 6'3" tall and ain't got no problem to be comfortably seated in the front bucket seat. Thanks again for your comment.

@greg112358132134 you sure that is the cars fault or maybe it has a lot of miles on it or even (gasp) the previous owner did not take care of it?

This was just basically a unexciting Daewoo. Trans Am's and Fieros are way more exciting than this crap.
