I just found out who victor bailey is through bass player mag, I got curious and youtubed him and this is the video i clicked on and I am now adding it to my favorites, I got to check out his albums, he's my new favorite bass player
thanks but i wasnt really intrested in a new bass i have a decent one from a starter kit, works for me. i find it odd that before you really touch a bass you get a really nice one. Anyways why have a good bass if you can't play it? i shall practice even more :)
I'm guessing his parents have lots of money, but either you can use that as fuel. Like I use the fact that when my band teacher asked me what I wanted to do with bass and I said go to the top by playing with lots of different people and have a great solo career, he laughed at me.
Well he is a ass, and does not matter now since I have gotten a lot better since then. I take lessons with Adam Nitti since the clown he recommended me to take lessons with was a waste of money.
This is sick nice groove and Vic i actually liked the singing it just made the solo seen more human and emotional. Bailey you the man thanks for pushing the bar. one of Berklee's finest.
Damn Victor, you don't have to defend yourself. Not only did you play with Weather Report, but Miles Davis! Hey, whatever you play will groove. To hell wit um!
This is Victor Bailey. Two things.1-Lenny White played his own groove cause that's waht we do.OBVIOUSLY he could play what was on the record.Two-forget my singing I'm not a singer,I'm just telling my story and sometimes I need to scream and shout to do that.Peace Victor B
it doesnt matter what you do... i love you in all of your totality! The Low Blow masterpiece is one of the records that kept my jazz fusion radio show number one for FIVE years straight in Atlanta.
Vic - you don't have to defend anything Unfortuntely there will always be naysayers and they can't touch your playing or groove. I'm a bass player also -All Due Respect to you and I loved what you did on Birdland.
I Think that´s Lenny White on drums, he´s great, played with Miles Davis, RTF, Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Freddie Hubbard, Buster Williams, Marcus Miller, Herbie Hancock and many more... i think he´s playing the part he wants to play.
Ummm he would be the guy playing the bass in the video... You know Victor Bailey, the guy who played in Weather Report after Jaco left. Not to be confused with Victor Wooten who plays with the Flecktones. Unless you were playing on one of Vic's songs "Where is Paco?" ;-)

This is a great video, and I'm glad someone finally put up some vic on here. My only problem is that he leaves out some of my favorite sections of his songs.
his one of my favourites, together with richard bona (though they are very different). i especially like victors timing. his rhythmic feel is very individual.

Don't worry about that just keep practicing, and save some money to afford a new one that you want. I can tell you some great basses to buy.

Then again, I suppose it's difficult for most drummers to keep up with the recordings of omar and dennis.
