OR, if you skip the ECU entirely, and run a switch to the VTEC Solenoid, and 2 other wires, for battery and ground, you can engage VTEC even while idling (which sounds like a drag car). if that is all, i'm done dealing with stupid fuckin people.

@MrWickedOnex3 Unless you wire it through a switch by going directly from the solenoid, and running a positive and negative and ground the the vtec solenoid to a switch. then you can flick the switch even when idling. i have seen it done yo. and was goin to do the same with my crx but decided just to get the VTEC controller. and way i don't have to engage a switch or button when i want it to kick in. the guy i got my headers from showed me how he did it.

It pushes hydraulic oil to the locking pin from the high profile cam lobe of the valves. In order for this to happen, The engine has to be warm, and it has to be moving which is sensed by the VSS, and the Oil Pressure sends signal to the computer to push the oil to the locking pin which makes Nice sound and More Air/Gas pushed in and faster exhaust released. @forever1def Your thinking of V V T-I or i-VTEC.... U see honda didnt start controlling valve timing until the K-series engines and the R series engine, until then jus valve lift was controlled. At a certain RPM the spool valve is opened and oil pressure is sent to the lock pin, which locks in the rockers on a higher profile cam lobe. How ever Vtec was also used for economy as well (Vtec-e and the Accords only ran on 3 valves untill Vtec kicked in).. O fyi I'm a Honda Tech, so yea...

@forever1def O and getting back to the variable valve timing, I believe Nissan started that with either the RB engines or the VQ engines....Im not sure which came out 1st, I think they both were released around the same time. Also Toyota followed Nissan afterwards.....Yamaha and Toyota had a joint project where Yamaha supplied Toyota a 20 valve head, that was the beginning of V V T-I ...That Engine was the 4A-GELU ( One of the greatest engines of all time u ask me,but im also a Toyota fan, lol)

All the Honda's have V-TEC's. some you can hear like mine, and some you can't. the only engine swap that isn't V-TEC is the B18B. it's just a DOHC from the DA9 Integra LS, GS, and RS models

the DA9 is now my moms boyfriends car, and DB1 is my moms now, they both have B18A's in them non-vtec. i've got a 1st gen CRX Si(86) wtih a built EW4 american version engine. it does it like in the vid lol. i love it. but the tranny blew because of all the power. and i've got an 88 EF8 as well with a spoon sports shortshifter, shift knob, Brand new coilovers(not installed) and a ton of new parts.

I've got 2 in real life.. a 90 4 door DOHC, and a 93 Hatch DOHC. on the game i've got like 7 JDM style. i don't build for speed, only what i feel like. i've got 1 thats completely maxed out for parts, but the most i build is for play and drag. and drift. I don't tune for top speed.
